  1. The other thing I don't get from the bidders perspective is why bid now, surely if you wait till October you could £100+m off the asking price
  2. Is huang legit or is he a chancer? Cos surely if has cic backing proof of funds won't be a problem
  3. Being a bit of a geeky baseball fan I was reading an article by a HOF baseball analyst called Peter Gammons over the weekend and he matter of factly stated Hicks is going to file for bankruptcy ..... This may or may not explan things
  4. But where are they? I'm not business expert but with the deadline for refinance this summer why didnt anyone come in for us, you would of thought it was a good time yo?
  5. This is all well and good but are there any buyers out there for us?
  6. What didnt he say?
  7. Xabi Alonso appears ready to leave Liverpool Tony Evans, Gary Jacob Liverpool placed a £35 million valuation on Xabi Alonso last night after the Spain midfield player said his goodbyes to some members of the club's staff. However, Real Madrid, with whom the player has been linked, have not yet made an official offer. Alonso's relationship with Rafael Benítez has been troubled since the Liverpool manager began his pursuit of Gareth Barry last year. Although Benítez wants to keep the 27-year-old, there is a growing acceptance at Anfield that the player is likely to move to Real. Benítez has justified paying up to £18.5 million to Portsmouth for Glen Johnson, who has joined on a four-year contract, because the right back was English. The manager has offered a new contract to Álvaro Arbeloa, who has one year left on his deal, but is also wanted by Real. “We knew the market was going to be difficult this summer and some of it has been crazy,” Benítez said. “We could buy one more player without selling anyone.” Xabi Alonso appears ready to leave Liverpool | Football - Times Online Story coming from tony evans which makes it all the more worrying
  8. Portsmouth accept Liverpool bid for Glen Johnson | Football - Times Online Portsmouth accept Liverpool bid for Glen Johnson Window watch: England right back could be on his way to Anfield after South Coast club accept £18.5 million offer Gary Jacob, James Ducker Liverpool had an offer of about £18.5 million for Glen Johnson accepted last night. The successful bid comes after they struggled to raise the money to buy him when he was valued at about £8.5 million in January. The Portsmouth and England right back subsequently signed a new four-year contract, but his future club appears clearer with Chelsea unwilling to match the fee for a player they sold for £4 million two years ago. Manchester City expressed an interest, but have not matched the price, which will include add-ons. Liverpool will raise funds from the potential sales of Álvaro Arbeloa and Andrea Dossena and from outstanding money that they are owed from the sale of Peter Crouch to Portsmouth for £11 million a year ago. The Anfield club have expressed an interest in Micah Richards, the Manchester City defender.
  9. Its Rafa's fault! just cant get the sources these days ;)
  10. Looks like you were spot on with this info UEM Rafa's title dream already looks over because of Liverpool's massive debts | Mail Online Spokesman John Mackin said: ‘We urge the Royal Bank of Scotland, and our elected representatives, to consider the implications of refinancing Hicks’ and Gillett’s continued ownership of Liverpool Football Club. We will step up the action regarding the Royal Bank of Scotland if this request is not met.’ The Mail on Sunday can reveal that RBS have sought advice from police and other authorities about the prospect of Liverpool fans attacking branches if they did not re-finance the owners’ loans. But the threat of a boycott — or worse — if the banks do strike a deal puts them in an even more difficult position. In theory, the club have £30m left of the £350m loan facility, which Benitez could spend on players. But in reality, RBS and Wachovia will not allow cash to be spent on transfers when accountants KPMG are warning that the future of parent company Kop Football (Holdings) as a going concern is in doubt unless the existing borrowings are refinanced.
  11. Barca are class but whisky nose blew form minute one, pressing them high up the pitch was asking for trouble, players of that technical ability werent going to be phased too long as it panned out. I'm pretty sure Rafa would of got the team to defend deep let them have the ball in non dangerous areas, clog up the 18 yard box and invite Barca to go out wide and challenge them to put crosses in the box. As good as Barca are they are as close to a one trick pony there is (hell of trick mind) the longer you withsatnd their pretty patterns the more frustrated they get and less ineffectual as the game wears on. Offesnively speaking we would probably need Gerrard and Nando to be at their best but I'm sure we would of been more effective against them the the manc bastards were
