  1. "The comittee refused any suggestion it was a racist Gesture". Then why the fuck is he getting a 3 match ban? Fucking joke.
  2. Ashley Cole, Justin Hoyte, Ali Allidiere, Steve Sidwell, David Bentley, Johan Djouru, fabrice Mouamba. And the academies are far bigger but as I said before they were investigated by the premier league because Wenger used his own money to set up an academy in the Ivory Coast and the best of those players get moved to a belgian Club called Beveren which is were they signed Eboue from I think. Beveren incidentally was partially funded by david Dein. It's a moot point though because Heighway himself was against bringing in the foreign players. You can't have it both ways you ask who has been better i've named three clubs who have a better track record you focus on Arsenal then ask me how much bigger the talent pools are, well yes they have got a bigger talent pool I admit that, but Heighway was (and is) against any form of expansion of the youth academies to include overseas players. On a side note four of the 2006 winning team were Rafa's signings: Jack Hobbs, Godwin Antwi, man of the match in the first leg Paul Anderson and goalscorer Miki Roque.
  3. He was protected by Parry and the board it's in the article. The fact remains that in 19 years of youth development we have only produced 8 first team regulars either for ourselves or any top flight club. Two of which he more or less admitted that they were going to make it no matter what (Gerrard and Owen) and another one Mcmanaman he only spent about six months with. Do you seriously think that's good enough? If he wasn't protected by someone he wouldn't have been in a job. Look I've admitted I don't like the man because I've met him and he struck me as an arrogant egotist. But the fact remains that that record isn't good enough. Incidentally just how much money has been thrown at the academy and what is it's annual budget?
  4. And you know this how? Do you work at the academy or know someone who has played under him?
  5. No Liam Brady has control but Wenger dictates what type of game he wants them to be able to play, which in this case is identical to type of play that Liam Brady espouses. Were it does become complicated is that Wenger signs a lot from abroad and puts them straight into the academy as well as the normal youngsters scouted from the Arsenal and surrounding areas. Arsenal also have basically a second fully functioning academy on the Ivory coast as Wenger used his own money to fund it and the cream of this academy always seem to sign for a Belgian club called Beveren who bankrolls Beveren yes David Dein. I'm sure Arsenal were in trouble over this a few months back. The difference with Liverpool is that though Rafa tends to sign the youngsters from abroad (certainly since the cup defeat against Arsenal in January) he brings them to Melwood by-passing the academy. I personally believe that it 's more a footballing situation with Rafa and Heighway. Rafa wants the players to play in a certain way and Heighway is not providing players who can do the job, not that they are bad players just that it's not what Rafa wants. At the end of the day though it's the manager who has to make the final call on these things.
  6. Hi Paul it was a long time ago well before the academy but no it wasn't just being told your not good enough as in the usual sense, in them days it was the manager who still had responsibility for that. No this is more along the lines of the general treatment while they are under his care. Possibly he picked his style of coaching up from the states but I do think it's telling that people who have made it can praise him no end but lads who have fallen by the wayside and their parents seem to think he leaves a lot to be desired. This seems in general contradiction to the UTD set up which was universally praised by players and parents alike, were their philosophy is to say to the parents fom the outset that though their child might never make it at Old Trafford they will be able to make a living from the game. It's this equal treatment of lesser talents and real stars in the making that I think is their academies real strength. Whereas I believe in our system we concentrate on the cream rather than the collective.
  7. So what are you saying that it's ok to treat the young lads like shit if they are not good enough. And what does the youth cup even mean nothing, fuck all if the players he produces aren't good enough then it's a total load of arse. I'm sorry mate but in 19 years he has produced 8 players who have performed in the top flight on a consistant basis and 4 of those 8 were so naturally gifted it's untrue. and another 3 are/were at other clubs. Mcmanaman, Fowler, Matteo, Thompson, Carragher, Owen, Gerrard and Warnock Ask the parents of children who are now at Blackburns academy about his attitude or the parents who've taken their kids to Wigan. And lastly fourth hand, hardly my cousin walked because he was humiliated by him. He was 14 at the time many years ago before the academy in Kirkby and his was not an isolated case.
  8. Dear God the arrogance of that man. I knew after the interview at the end of the youth cup final it would only be a matter of time before he exploded, I didn't think it would be this soon though. Me and my dad have had the misfortune to meet heighway and a more arrogant and obnoxious man I've yet to meet. The horror stories of some of the lads who didn't make it at anfield and the callous way they were treated by him really do make you wonder. As I say these are just my experiences with him others may say he is a smashing bloke may be I just caught him on a bad day, but one comment he made in the past that did annoy me was that he learned more from coaching in the US than he ever did from Shanks or Bob Paisley. This whole article smacks of Heighway being a control freak, something which he accuses Rafa of being. I don't want to denigrate his acievements but Macca, Robbie, Michael and Steven really would of made it at any club. It's the Carragher's of this world that the academy need to be producing. That's what Rafa wants and that's what he's stated. Sorry about the rant and I know I'm biased because I dislike him I just think that that article like him is full of shit. P.S. I couldn't stand Houllier either but at least at the end he went out as a supporter and kept his mouth shut, and his press conference at the end was a credit to himself and the club. A lesson that could be learned by Mr Heighway methinks.
  9. AC Milan Vs Liverpool Champions League Final 2006/07 May 23 2007 Athens, Greece. Quite therapeutic typing that.
  10. Who were the two journo's that had to be separated? They both worked for the same paper, nearly went off in the press box.
  11. we're talking double whoppers with fucking bacon!   FLMAO
  12. I believe a lot of them have gone to EST 1892 some of them seem to be in two minds though, they hate the fat cunt for ripping them off but they can't stand Rupert or insider for pointing it out. Don't mention cults round them though, bit of a no-no that.
  13. Very well done boys well played to you all. I'm rather emotional so I'll just leave it there. Proud to be a Liverpool fan.
  14. He's not going to bed with my penis cos' Roman's already bought it.
  15. Sonny Liston. I haven't seen him fight but my Dad has said he was a fucking monster intimidated everyone who got in the ring with him. He had double tendon strength in his hands and had a fist the size of two hands. Also he made Clay cry like a little baby before his fight and had to be physically pushed to the ring nearly at gunpoint to face him bcause he was that scared. It's just a great pity that the mob got to Liston in the end.
  16. Isn't Peter Harrison Lucas Neill's agent? I wonder if Liverpool would be prepared to do business with him again after that debacle.
  17. I would have questioned it at 32-0 but not at 31. Some mighty cynical people out there if you ask me.
  18. Elias I believe is happy in his current job and I think was brought in mainly to spot young talent rather than have any particular coaching roll. Miller is I believe Rafa's choice to be the link between Melwood and Kirkby. Gary Mac and John Barnes have both been mentioned as the next academy directors. I personally believe Alex Miller will get the job and Gary Mac will take up a coaching roll at the club in place of Miller on the bench. As has been well documented Gary Mac was Rafa's first choice as reserve team coach, prior to Gary Abblett.
  19. No one but that is not the question. FortressAnfield simply asked is the number of caps a player recieves a measure of how good he is. You replied that if you only recieve none and one I'd say so. So again I ask you do you not consider Chris Lawler, Tommy Smith and Ian Callaghan great players simply because they didn't win many international caps?
  20. So by that logic then Tommy Smith wasn't that good because he only had 1 cap. What about Ian Callaghan with 5 caps or Chris Lawler with only 4 caps were do you draw the line on England caps, how many do you need to be recognised as a great player.
  21. I can't stand Maureen but that was a cunts trick by Shane Mcmahon. I mean the man was with his daughter no need for that. Typical Mcmahon Shitehouse tactic, must run in the family.
