    So Gerrard complete 49 passes & Lucas 48. Compelling. I have seen the analysis and the majority of passes with Lucas as they always are, backwards and sidewards. By put himself about more, do you mean concede meaningless free-kicks, one of his traits. Thank god for pro-zone otherwise I would not have a clue. If you want to use analysis, Lucas was the mainstay of our midfield last season, and whilst not putting the whole blame on him, was one of the reasons our football was turgid and some of the worst seen in many a year. These threads really do want to make you put your face through a wall. ;-)

    Lucas better than Gerrard tonight? Not a chance. Is not good enough and never will be. After 100 odd games, what you see is what you will get. The worse thing of all for me is that City were taking off their best players with 5/10 minutes to go, game over. It was like going back a couple of seasons where we would be beating the lower clubs in the division and taking Stevie & Nando off with time remaining. THAT is how far we have fallen.

    Instead of everyone giving Evans abuse, why not turn your vitriol on the propers cancers at the club, and I include the current board in this. We are fucked not because of Evans or Bascombe et al, but because Moores & Parry sold the club to the two biggest parasites seen in sports ownership. This might kick a few of our fans up the arse and realise that in 6 weeks, because Purslow & Broughton have not done the job they are paid for this club could go into administration, and finally do something about it. If I was SOS I would be demanding answers from the club and if a statement about the "takeover" process is not given in 48 hours, then SOS need to be vocal and hold the board to account. 6 weeks...

    No brainer for me in our current climate pre takeover. Torres needs cover and Crouch will do a job and will provide defences more concern than N'Gog or Kuyt. I'm sure this will be welcomed in the dressing room too. Wonder if Ms Clancy has something to do with this if this morning's revelations are to be believed?

    Those last 20 minutes.....I was glad my youngest dropped his 3D glasses at the end so I could pretend trying to find them for 5 minutes whilst my eyes dried up. What a film!

    Purslow's charges will be under sundries in next year's accounts..If you are talking for 2 days they would not be 2 quick conversations imo. Like I say, hope there's nothing to it.

    It has been a positive week however my concern is that RH mentioned Purslow had spent 2 days talking with Torres. If he was staying, you do not need to 2 days to confirm it. Discussing an exit strategy? Hope not.

    I was confident 2 weeks ago he was staying. My wife left OK magazine in the bog and as you do had a quick read whilst dropping the kids off and Ms Curran mentioned the eldest was starting school in September at the local school. OK, Heat, Now, the future of football rumours!

    The cynic in me believes that Purslow is putting this out there as the deal to Spurs is already done and is to prove to the fans that we are splashing the cash (wages in this instance). When Cole actually signs for Spurs he will come out and say there was nothing we could do and that as a board they supported the manager.

    So we get rid of Parry who apart from a fuck up list as long as Red Rum's knob, undermined the manager on many occasions, and his replacement of sorts approaches another club about one of their players without the coaching staff knowing. Our head of HR needs shooting.

    How many great strikers have there been in the past who did nothing all game but pop with a goal in the last 10 minutes of a game? With some of the arguments I have read today, these players would always be subbed after an hour. You do not take your match winners off when you need a goal to win a game. Let's see if he takes Torres off on Thursday if its nil nil with half hour to go. It's all about the CV...
