  1. To the tune of Brown Girl in the Ring (I think that's the title) Jor-dan Henderson, tra la la la la, Jor-dan Henderson, tra la la la la la la, Jor-dan Henderson, tra la la la la, He looks like a giraffe when he runs (runs, runs!) If you watch him lolloping about when he sprints, it works.
  2. I'm going to go against the grain here and say I'd start Suarez and Sturridge so that they can continue to work on their understanding. Then hook Suarez at half time or latest after an hour, hopefully with the game sewn up. I'd start Borini too for the fitness. Jones Flanagan Carra Coates Robinson Allen Shelvey Suso Borini Suarez Sturridge Sterling to come on for Luis ASAP.
  3. Seconded. Comes across as quite likeable too. I'm sure that opinion could change next Sunday though. I usually avoid watching Stoke, so I've not noticed it for a while but they are clearly letting their grass grow long. I suppose its not that different from us watering the pitch or Arsenal having a wide one, but because it's Stoke I don't like it.
  4. Fee agreed, according to sky sports.
  5. Glenn Whelan got away with one there. Personally I don't understand why he didn't own up and tell Sgt Webb to send him off. That is the work of a cheat. Javi Garcia was a waste of money. Stoke are not fun to watch. The sky is blue.
  6. I'd leave him with no doubt of what at least ten times meant.
  7. The alternative to "being dealt with internally" would have been spun as "Rodgers condones cheating", resulting in us getting even less from refs. At least this way when we next get a stonewaller Friend, or Atkinson, or Probert or whatever incompetent we have in charge might just think to themselves "hang on, these lads are told not to dive, pen". Hopefully. At the very least we might get a fair crack of the whip now instead of waiting another 6 months for our next one because we have the intentionally diabolical one in our ranks. For what it's worth, I thought Brendan looked very uncomfortable during that part of the press conference. I doubt he wanted to say that, but as some people have already pointed out, there wasn't much choice. In my opinion anyway.
  8. I'm usually a bit of an optimist, but I have a bad feeling about this game. Their strengths are our weaknesses, in that they break quickly and focus much of their play out wide. We have seen our fullbacks outnumbered at times this season (at the Pit particularly) and we've been caught out on the break too many times to mention. I expect Slur will have noticed this, now that his concerns about Van Persie's near-death experience have been out to bed. I suppose the flip side of this is that our numbers at the other end play on the fact that their defence is pretty dire, and that they're not great in the middle. But I'd be surprised if we see the benefit of that on Sunday. Anyone else strangely looking forward to Slur's presser? He seems to come out with something mental pre or post match every week these days. I'm sure he'll have some sort of "beyond the pale" comment to make about the handball that never was.
  9. Quietly confident about this. Does anyone know if he can play in Europe? As Chelsea have dropped into the Europa League is he now cup tied like Luis was?

  11. Me and my brother have this discussion at least once a week. Football is shit.
  12. Fingers crossed. I avoid Bolton's games to be honest, but I remember him getting booed by his own fans at the Reebok earlier in the season after a couple of howlers. And of course he got made to look silly at the pit the other week. I just hope we get bodies in the box today and take it to them. That Chelsea result should give the players a boost.
  13. Whenever I've seen that Bogdan play he has been dire. Man of the match today, though. It is written.
  14. Would anyone mind filling me in on this? By the time I was going to football everything was all seater anyway and I've never heard this before. A google search turned nothing up to better inform me.
  15. 3-4-3 for me. Get the width from Johnson and Enrique, and get Dirk and Maxi buzzing around Carroll. Assuming Bellamy can't play of course.

  17. Copa's are quite lightweight however. Personally I prefer my boots that way, but if you're the type of centre back who's a bit blood and thunder and put your feet in where it hurts, you might find they don't give your foot that much protection. Also when the pitches get boggy, the moulds won't give you so much grip; however they are an excellent boot for this time of year and late season when the pitches can be like granite. Personally I have Copa's for this time of year and another pair of boots for wet/muddy pitches.
  18. http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugvrNw2WkIM Steve McManaman. But me and my mate used to take it in turns to be him so sometimes I was Rob Jones as well. The school wouldn't let us play with full sized footballs in the playground though so we had to make do with tennis balls. Easier for stepovers though. Although I am now 25, I do have the 2006 world cup shirt with Alonso 14 on it and wear it without fail for five-a-side every Monday. It makes me play just like him. In my opinion.
  19. Collymore Ince Babb Basically any signing we made in my mid-teens was never going to live up to my expectations as I always thought they were the "missing piece". This probably continued until the summer of 2002. I stopped expecting anything after that. I was distinctly gutted at missing out on Poborsky, but I think that he still had a pretty respectable career after he left the Mancs. Also, once upon a time when Phil Babb started every game, I was always gutted anytime we went sniffing round a centre-back and missed out on him. People like Matt Elliot were held in far too high esteem in my mind. To conclude, I am probably not a very good judge of football.
  20. I think this is is a ridiculous argument to be having. As has been said, we have had the "physical" type in midfield with Masch before, and the man in question is now plying his trade at Juve. Alonso is perfectly suited (in my opinion) to this current formation as his range of passing creates options for our pacy players further up the field(Torres and Babel, and to a lesser extent Gerrard). On top of that, to argue, as someone did, that he can't handle the battle against the likes of Bolton and Everton is to forget that when a more physical player was sent off for two yellows in a derby, it was him who picked up the slack and bossed the game (Everton at home 06). That is only one example, granted, but i don't really have time to go down our fixture list for the last 4 years and point out a time where Xabi has shone against a physical team. that is just one example that springs to mind. On top of that, it was after he went off against Arsenal at home that we fell apart in midfield. His quality on the ball will be a big factor against them in the upcoming triumvirate as well.
