  1. It's about the money! Carroll would not be a bad player to bring on to change a game, but he's too expensive for that role. His value has probably peaked too. A few good games including one for England have added a bit of gloss, but in truth he's not got good enough technique for a top class striker, and nothing else is good enough for a starting spot at LFC. By selling Carroll we obtain funds for new signings and remove one of the most expensive earners from the wage list.
  2. The FA has taken action on Twitter statements in thevpast!
  3. It will be interesting if the FA charges BOTH Ferdinand and Terry for bringing the game into disrepute. The Suarez incident was triggered by Evra's sexual slur against Suarez's sister. I don't see much difference there from Ferdinand's reference to Terry and Bridge's girlfriend. On this basis it's logical (and just) for the FA to charge the French Asswipe. Dont hold your breath.
  4. I don't hold with bitterness either that's why I enjoy the fact that Owen's career has been total shit since he turned his back on LFC. He left us first (for a chicken-shit fee) for money at Real Madrid. He got the money but lost his starting role. When he had the chance to come back, he selected Newcastle because he was afraid Real would turn LFC's bid down and he would miss his England chance benchwarming in Spain. But he fucked his knee, then he fucked Newcastle. I think Fergie signed him hoping to piss us off! Low risk with high potential return but in the end, Owen didn't even manage that, except when talking to the press! No way would he be welcome back
  5. Someone who isn't 21, or playing in a team that never has nor ever will win anything, or has been the top scorer in the reserves, or being watched by David Moyes or Mark Hughes, or is African and has the same name as a good player at a different club!
  6. I dont know much about him but last season was Pepe's worst since he joined us.
  7. Good guys usually win in the end! Evra is most decidely not a good guy. His previous tells you that. Now his club are for a replacement - avowed Liverpool fan Baines. Poetic justice!
  8. The "unsaid" inference, one avoided by the magistrate, was that Ferdinand was trying to "entrap" Terry and put him into a situation similar to what Evra (with the support of Man U) did to Suarez. It looks like Terry sensed it and met it head on. What the FA did in Suarez' case was give carte blanche to anyone to play the race card and put the burden of proof on the accused ( which the FA did with Suarez) What this judgment has done is to state that the burden of proof should on the accuser and that simply using the word "black" is not significant. The context, the intent, the motive are important. Liverpool Police - not the softest of institutions - deemed Suarez had no case to answer. Rightly so. Their decision is so much wiser than the idiots in London who decided to prosecute Terry. Pity that they did not. Suarez would have been found not guilty and it would not have taken four days. Alas, LFC underestimated the FA's zeal to make an example (with no foundation) of Suarez and the feeding frenzy unleashed by the media. The FA is now in a really difficult position. Can they impose a sanction on Terry? In my opinion, No. How could the FA assume to punish Terry when a greater did not? If the FA does not punish Terry, how can its actions in the Suarez case be "safe" to use a legal term? Answer, the FA overreacted in the Suarez case to justify its own "racism" programme and to appease the lobbyists with their own causes. In my opinion, the FA will NOT take this matter further, but will issue a statement supporting the magistrates decision and condemning racism. If LFC were interested in justice, they should ask for the Suarez case to be reviewed. But they won't. It makes commercial and football sense to move on. If I were Luis, I'd want my £40,000 back! But thankfully I'm just a passionate Red fan, and a passionate believer in justice. If only Suarez had been heard by the British Justice System, his reputation would be intact. But the contemptible FA intervened and sullied him but more so themselves. Their campaign to impose PC policies on a national institution has failed its test. Whatever you think of Terry, he has paid a huge price. And so has Capello who had the balls to stand up to the FA pricks. The big winner here is British justice. The list of losers is long. Terry, Capello, the two Ferdinands, Suarez, LFC, a posse of gutter journalists ( most of whom had ready made articles to crucify Terry when he was found guilty) Probably more! But I feel good about this verdict. I wont tolerate racism. But I'm pleased that this court has emphasized that a high level of proof is needed before the stigma of "racist" is applied to anyone.
  9. I'm not a fan of Terry but I hope he wins this. I don't buy that what Terry said was a whole different level because he used the word "black". For Ferdinand to say he found it hurtful when he didnt even hear it. WTF? This was two guys engaged in common abuse; there was no greater hurt one, no one's job or home or voting rights were affected. The injustice of the Evra verdict (and LFC's poor handling of the the matter) still affects us, as it should! What Suarez said was nowhere near as vehement as the exchange between Terry and Ferdinand. If Terry is acquitted, as I hope he will be, what does this mean for the FA? Will they apologize to Terry, Capello? To Luis? No.......they'll adopt some line about fighting racism. Racism is evil, but denial of justice is much worse!
  10. The timing is interesting! I think not signing Sigurdsson is great news for Shelvey, and in the circumstances, for LFC. He's gotba great future ahead of him
  11. It's not actually going to raise any money, because it will be used to repay the same amount of debt. The benefit being that interest on that debt will be eliminated. Additionally, if the offering is over subscribed, it will lead to a bigger share issue to remove even more debt. At this moment it's hard for me to understand why an investor would buy into this but that depends on the asking price.
  12. IF is reserved for bitters! He is thebmost valuable player on our books, Suarez included
  13. The Liverpoool Way! I'll certainly only believe it when he says so!
  14. I really think we've dragged our feet because of the situation with the "on loan" players. If we are destined to have both Cole and Aquilani on the books, it makes for a crowded and expensive midfield array. Personally, iI find it hard to see what he'd add next season and Id like to see Shelvey given more playing time. We need to add goals otherwise we'll repeat last season.
  15. He'd be wight! The Press has been monumentally unfairbto England. These tournaments are Cup football, not exhibitions. England were unbeaten and had a solid foundation at the back. Some of the choices upfront were poor - Welbeck was never a threat on the break, and Carroll was uncomfortable in a counter attacking role. Milner and Young were good defensively but poor going forward. Adam Johnson and Defoe would have been better options, but overall,an unbeaten England went out on penalties to IMO the best team in the competition.
  16. We only want players who want to play for the Red Shirt. Clearly there's a character question with him, so let's move on. I couldnt see where he would play anyway, weve got a boat load of midfielders - especially if Cole and Aquilani return. Anyone got any news on Lucas? Is he back from Brazil?
  17. There are two things that seem to have been missed here. First of all, since when does a manager have an obligation to discuss his selections in public? Hodgson was in a tough spot from the outset and picked his team, because that's his responsibility. He spoke to Ferdinand. That should be the end of it. The far greater "wrong" IMO, is the public carping by the Ferdinand clique. It stems from the arrogance culture that runs through Old Trafford, as if that club and its players have a divine right to special treatment. Following the arrogance is a deliberate campaign to inflict discomfort on the England manager - actions grounded 100% in disrespect and disdain. No player has a divine right to be selected, and certainly no player has a right to undermine publicly any manager trying to win a trophy for his country. The moral compass is totally on Hodgson's side in this, as time will tell. The bankruptcy in ethical and moral terms that is characteristic of Man U is coming into greater and greater focus. They believe their chant "we do what we want" Well not anymore as far as Roy is concerned!
  18. I want us to play to win every minute of every game. I don't want any opposition player to be faster or more aggressive than us. I want to outpass, outshoot, outrun, outwork every team we face. Dreaming? No, I've seen it done and we can do it again.
  19. There was speculation that Rafa would get a big job in Spain this summer, and still might if Mourinho goes to Chelsea. Logic says he is by the best qualified and the best motivated. but my mind (because it's old) goes back to Bill Shankly when he was at Huddersfield. If we can find a diamond in the rough - a motivator, a tactician, a man with an eye for a player - that would be the best choice. Of the young ones, who is there? Martinez is the best if only for the players he's helped become great - Valencia, Baines,
  20. I agree it's a crass and stupid conversation to hold in public and an EPL Manager should know better. For that alone he should go. As far Sam suing, I hope he does. It will be interesting to hear what comes out in court. Sam has sailed too close to the wind and (apologies for mixing metaphors) has certainly some skeletons in his cupboard.
  21. I really think that Martin O'neill has a lot to answer for. Barry wanted the move, but the collateral damage caused by ONeill's intransigence was first Alonso and finally Rafa. And of course, Villa lost Barry anyway and ONeill quit.
