Tim is actually a decent person, he never says no to autographs and is happy to pose for photos when spotted in sydney. Even though he plays for the other side, he makes the trip to play for Australia and has my respect for that. It's not as if he acts like Joey Barton.

For what it's worth Rash, the substitutions he made were probably going to be the same even if we were 3-1 up. I don't think he surrendered it just seems he stuck to his game plan, that said we should have battered them with the players on the pitch anyway.

Torres made me wee.....*embarrased* Hobbs didn't let himself down, some nice passes! Lucas very composed. Gerrard was immense. Hyypia still has cojones! Very pleased!

You could kinda half tell that Gerrard really rates him as he sat back on a number of occasions allowing Lucas to move forward and do his thing. He isn't afraid to stick his foot in either! much respect!

Couldn't agree more :thumbup: Any win would have built up our confidence however the 8 goals will fire the lads up even more. I doub't we'll see the same team but I think we had a great balance of attack and defence and if we keep to those same lines I think we will be fine. Are Kuyts days numbered? It seems that everyone who he is paired up with always plays crap.

:thumbup: Yep totally agree, had we attacked from the start we could have had over 3 goals, sure we would have conceded one or maybe even two goals but we still would have come home with the three points. But then I look at it this way, it might be better to improve week by week gradually gaining confidence rather than go all out and maybe getting raped which would set us back even further.....

It was in a period when we were searching for that goal, if we can't score it from close range then why not have a go from far out. I don't think he was right in having a go at Masch, he should at least be up in Riise, Kuyts and his own ear for their wastefulness.

I thought we played a lot better today than in any of our previous matches, we actually passed the ball around even though a lot of the times the ball went backwards but at least it wasn't to any of the opposing players. So in terms of ball retention I think we were much better. As Nick said once Kewell and Crouch came on we looked very good. Taking off Yossi was a mistake, it should have been Kuyt. Crouch needs to play, it's there for everyone to see that Dirk is struggling at the moment and now is not the time to play him in 17 consecutive matches until he scores a goal because it will be to the detriment of the team. His first touch is still extremely poor. All in all I thought we played ok and it was an improvement to the shit I have been watching over the last few weeks. Personally at this stage I'm not worried about the championship, I just want the team to keep improving its style of play and hopefully the results will come with it.

Percentages mean nothing really if you aren't doing anything meaningful with the ball.....so many loose passes......no one making runs etc etc.....it shouldn't be about that last flick, it should be about moving it around being patient....we always hurry the passing....i mean we have 90 minutes to score a few goals.....

We were neither dominant or dominated in the midfield, defensively Masch and Gerrard were taken out of the game as the spurs kept booting the ball up to Berbatov. As much as Rafa likes to maintain the "shape" of his team it's not conducive to players wanting to run slightly out of position to receive the ball, it's more a case of the passer needing to find a team mate rather than the other way around. I feel that we are lacking that movement in the midfield because of the strict positional discipline that is adhered to and is probably the reason why we only see quick mostly long passes made upfield as opposed to short passes. It's kind of like counter-attacking without really countering any sort of attack, I remember Babel saying in an interview "we make three passes then shoot." There were a number of times when Pennant went down the right wing and on most days he would have three options - cross, play back to right back or play the square ball to the CM's. The last two options weren't there so he had to cross and at times they were awkward crosses at best. We played a much more expansive game towards the end hunting for that last goal as it pushed the spurs back and we were effectively playing three at the back. What was noticeable I think was that Mascherano saw a lot more ball and was playing it around like Xabi, because he had more time, and he got a lot more confidence, started making runs and had a neat shot which just evaded the right hand post. Basically he was co-ordinating everything as opposed to the previous 80 minutes when he was just sitting solid cutting any balls that were played through and not doing much else. Maybe I'm just talking shite, but I really think we need a lot more movement out there especially in the middle of the park. If we had more movement, our ball retention would be better and we wouldn't be defending as much. Perhaps we need players who are better technically on the ball.

Thought Voronin played well, he kept the ball well, hussled and seemed more comfortable with the ball at his feet than anyone of his team mates.

So if I came from OZ and had no connections in Liverpool, would these be the tickets to go for?
