  1. Long shots are the worst aren't they? It amazes me how they control the ball when there is so much distance between cueball and colour. I have always struggled when playing on long shots. And short ones. And every part of the game actually. Ronnie powered through there. Fabulous 106 to go 12-8. Think Carter knew once he went 11-8 down it wasn't to be.
  2. O'Sullivan looking solid here. Superb moment in the first frame of this session when Carter, after O'Sullivan potted the cueball, opted to put the Rocket back in. Essentially it was a long, tricky red to bottom right and Carter was laying down a challenge to him saying, 'pot that'. O'Sullivan nailed it. Frame over. Great game this, Carter came back well to make it 10-8, but it's back to three in front for the Rocket now.
  3. None of them, not the ones who are out, or the ones remaining, can touch O'Sullivan. The man was born with a cue in his hand. I've often thought that opponents don't beat the Rocket, he beats himself. If his mind is elsewhere then opponents can capitalise. If he's focussed however, he's untouchable.
  4. Carter back to 6-4 and looking great to make it 6-5. Cueing nicely. O'Sullivan with some unforced errors.
  5. Currently watching the Bingham/Davis tie. 4-3 although Davis in with frame chance to level at 4-4. Some really poor play from both; untidy match with Davis in particular showing some less than tidy positioning. Roll on Ronnie and Carter...
  6. Brilliant film. Funny, whip-smart and bounces along nicely. I wasn't bored for one second; a perfect "switch off" film, great to forget about everything else for a few hours. This film is popcorn cinema and doesn't demand much in return for the fun. Downey Jr is just boss in anything he does. Paltrow, as annoying as she is in real life, is a very good actress and plays her part well. Cheadle doesn't completely convince me as the military man although he has an excellent rapport with Downey Jr. Kingsley stole the show for me. Acted everybody off the screen for the (relatively brief) time he had. Highlight of the film for me was firstly the cutting putdown of the little lad's daddy issues by Stark (hilarious) and then the novel way Iron Man takes down a helicopter outside his house. I won't spoil it but it certainly tops the Die Hard 4 scene where Willis uses a police car. Oh, and the barrel of monkeys sequence was boss.
  7. A wonderful woman and mother. Inspirational, courageous, brave beyond belief. Her tenacity helped bring about what happened in September last year. She's with Kevin again now. RIP.
  8. First: Definitely Maybe Best: too hard to pick. At a push, I would say The Masterplan. My favourite compilation is Queen Greatest Hits II. Most surprising: This Is The Life - Amy McDonald Last: Jake Bugg
  9. Eloquant and moving. Much respect to him for that.
  10. Richard "the Lionheart" I of England has a statue of himself outside Parliament despite only spending 6 months of his ten-year reign in the country and he couldn't speak a word of English.
  11. Jackson was on fire there. Superb stuff. Nice to see some in the Labour party still have some backbone. And agree on the Bercow bit; hilarious that. "You come into my fucking House...?"
  12. William Hague has justified the money spent on her funeral by "reminding us of the tax rebate she secured for us from Europe, some 75bn, so I think that puts money into context" Dome-headed, ridiculous-voiced cunt.
  13. Some thoughts: 1) I love this thread. It's ace. 2) "The lady is for burning" is up there with the very finest tags on this site. 3) The football will be interesting this weekend. So much to look out for - will the FA try to enforce a silence or black armbands? Will players choose not to wear them if so? 4) I am officially on a live televison self-imposed ban because I do not want to see the heartless fucking cow being canonised by cringe-inducing, self-serving, limelight hogging politican/celebrity/media whore voxpop bullshit.
  14. It ain't no Ship and Mitre. I was expecting more variety in beers and lagers given the talking up people had done about this place. However. About four choices available. One of which was Heineken. In the Ship and Mitre, there is a Carling tap. But it is alone in the corner, left to rust and mope away from the real drinks, the properly nice ones. But in the Bierkellar regular lagers are given pride of place.
  15. If they did, would they consider taking the north of England with them? If so, I'm all for it. Free of the Tories? Yes fucking please.
  16. The new Santander advert. Mainly because of Rory McIlroy's sinister-as-fuck, stalker/serial killer apple eating bit.
  17. Funnily enough one of his videos is about how he was (ironically) approached by the BBC to do a reality show and the clip ends with him shouting "THEY WON'T GET THE TAXI DRIVER!!"
  18. Concert for George is a fucking triumph. And Joe Brown nails I'll See You In My Dreams. Brings a tear to the eye every time. And Clapton's While My Guitar...is outstanding.
