  1. the sad thing about the lack of protest is how what was a stronghold of socialism and union activity can become so apathetic about the strength of the people as 'customers' rather than employees any fan action would have a massive impact - the business can't exist without customers - the problem is the mentality which says there is nothing 'I' can do, or 'somebody else' would take my place - exactly the same arguments used about strike action by those not brave enough to act - although they are always happy to take the rewards that come truth is if the fans did act as one - gillette and hicks would be gone tomorrow - the fans who love to claim how special they are are - simply aren't up to it
  2. Given the fall out between reo-coker and O'neill is nobody interested in a cheap reo-coker allegedly 3.5 m in january? was an excellent kid seems to have let it all go to his head but a very capable player when on his game?
  3. I'm not sure what type of deal this prince could come up with? If Purslow is right then we owe 245m to the banks and the two were forced to put in additional sureties/guarantees etc up to 60m in addition to whatever they initially put in as a 'deposit' - so effectively the club would be 'worth' approx. £300-350m???? The 'prince' is saying any debt has to be reasonable - so presumably he means Gillette can't take all the money and run or it could just be his get out of jail free card or the start of negotiations. But 350m + profit and its damn near twice the value they paid for it. Can't see how Gillette can negotiate on debt as its shared with Hicks and any LFC profit will go to paying off that debt - no point in owning half the club just to pay off somebody else's debt - so all that can be done is paying off Gillettes sureties and giving him a profit and we've just switched from one debtor to another? then there is the rather large sticking point that your partner would be Tom Hicks...... anybody that stupid? and if they are then that aint the best recommendation for being our next owner
  4. Johnson the winger at Boro? Richards and Michael Johnson from City provided their ego's could be accomodated? quite like Noble at West Ham but not sure he'd improve us same with Cattermole and Gary O'neill - good 'squad' players though Reo-Coker has usually played very well against us .... why do most of the english players come with a shite attitude.......... Like Martin to take the 2nd choice keeper slot and Kelly to get some games - shame we let Spurs take naughton and walker from sheffield
  5. What little I Know about Saudi There are several thousand princes - those in line for the throne get to be called Royal highness those who aren't just get called highness The current King has about 20 brothers the youngest in his 60's all could potentially be King but its not thought likely considered a backward step Next in line are the sons and grandsons of the current king - which is about another 100 - fertile so and so the king - although probably just a dozen are thought suitable candidates - all of these get the tag royal highness all the other sons and grandsons are also called 'princes' but - the lad linked with us is potentially one of these or an even more distant relative from branches even further back - all of these beauts get called highness - Given the royal family has an estimated wealth of 1,000,000,000,000 - thats a million million - even little fish could be exceedingly wealthy but the chances are the lads just a humble multi millionaire - but he would have a lot of friends............ maybe redzawi could shed some light on where the lad ranks in the scheme of things some of the more powerful princes aren't in line for the throne in fact it sometimes helps to say you aren't interested...........
  6. weird - I've been thinking the same thing not sure about the 'end of era' stuff but the season itself - the player performances, the ridiculous antics of superstar players, the money, the owners, - something isn't right this season and I dont know what it is - from finishing second last year its all unravellled, the players themselves instead of looking intense and believing seem to be completely aimless even Carragher's spirit looks like something is missing - all started with a pointless pre-season and its eemed to carry on - didn't turn up at Spurs or had already lost before we kicked a ball.....mugged some crap teams played four decent teams and lost to them all - can't put my finger on whats wrong but something is...........hope it gets put right soon
  7. not sure you can blame the centre backs for getting pissed off when both full backs and both defensive midfielders went awol - wouldn't matter what the offside rule was either when your 2 on 2 and have the ball in space and with time - if they could pass we'd have been truly mullered think they did to us what we used to do when we thought the opposition were better than us - early pressure, get them rattled, hopefully score and then hang on - the surprise was rafa didn't see it coming or if he did he picked the wrong team and played the wrong tactics - think we'll spank them at Anfield however badly we played I'd still say Rafa was to blame - if he gets credit when we win and beat good teams he has to take stick when we lose against inferior opposition - everybody makes mistakes just wish he's fessed up to it - when he said he wanted to stop them playing in between the lines didn't realise that meant not having any
  8. never say never They could open the border to Mexico, invent a cure for cancer and admit that the moon landings were a sham whilst opening up the X files and coming clean about Roswell............... oh you mean stadler and waldorf.................
  9. Still think its a reasonable question Why do we have 40 reserve players? Even McMahon sounded a bit bemused by all the players he had to use during preseason. I know it could be as simple as because we can afford it and competition is good but the likes of Darby and Spearing aren't going to get any better sitting in the squad or playing in the stiffs - they stagnated last year and will again - if they are just to make up the CL squad then thats a travesty - Kelly looks better than Degen (but so do I and i'm nearly drawing me pension) and to be more of an athlete than Darby and is at least a year younger El Zhar I still dont get - decent player but not good enough and at 24 he isn't a kid to be 'developed' - Hammill would look to be the better option in that respect even if he has the stamina of stephen hawking - I suspect a good 10 or 11 need to leave on loan or out the door just to make the stiffs 'manageable'
  10. I think our weakest position is left wing - bring in a match winning left midfielder as per John Barnes and you could make do with less quality up front - they would pull the cover wide leaving more space Rafa's other option is not to go like for like - how could you find a player capable of covering Torres who would not be demanding games every week? - and even if you did you would soon be struggling to somehow fit both into the team and detracting from one or the other so I dont think we will be looking for an out and out top quality striker- Rafa's pursuit of Silva would support this argument - we already have Babel, Kuyt, Ngog who can play up front - If he goes for a real quality wide man then its likely that he'd want a player whose good in the air and capable of leading the line on his own - strong, decent link up play, but above all a good finisher capable of finding space in a crowded box and with the knack of being in the right place at the right time - Kuyt is the closest fit, neither Babel nor Ngog have shown any great heading ability - this would fit with his style at Valencia with Mista being fed by three quality forwards - a superb winger, a clever central player and a hard working but productive right midfielder
  11. What a bunch of hysterical bollocks on this thread - Moores made a massive fuck up Moores has naively followed Parry's lead probably because he was his friend and he trusted him but most likley because he knew he didn't have the brains to think for himself - blaming Moores is like blaming a dog for licking its balls - he sold the club for less than its real value to two people he never should have sold it too - does anybody really think this multi-millionaire actually did it for an extra £8m - somebody whose life has revolved around lfc - really? small minded , easy excuse its clear he believed the two yanks hook, line and sinker - he believed the bollocks about no debt, he believed the spade in the ground - he believed because he wanted to believe - he wanted out from a jon he knew he couldn't do - he was mugged - we were mugged what was he then supposed to do? he'd sold the club he had no say - any power he did have was in the board room and as far as we can tell - he tried to protect lfc as best as he could - which wasn't very much - what will be interesting is what if anything happens next I can't see beyond the fact he's gone because Parry's gone - he can't handle the americans on his own and he can't trust them as far as he could throw them and ffs he wants to stay life president of a club he's supported all his life - what a bastard So then all this bile and shit is because he's thick and he trusts his friends - christ thats probably most of the people on here - he wasn't clever enough - got ripped off by three blokes who are - full stop
  12. Metcalf went to Wolves the others have been announced as released but i haven't seen anything on the Swiss kid Kasami but you are right no sign on the offal youth profiles
  13. Never understood the bitterness around Owen - he said he wanted to leave , said he'd never leave on a Bosman - he didn't do a macmanaman - he was crap in his last season anyway and was playing in a crap team using crap tactics - so he went to Real Madrid because he believed he'd become one of the Galactico's - he failed - when he returned he didn't bend over backwards to get back to Liverpool big deal - we sing you'll never walk alone but as soon as we dont get it our way we forget pretty fuckin fast - disgusted with those minority of Liverpool supporters who don't have a clue what genuine support is - we are supposed to be special unfortunately we have small minded bitter tossers just like every other club
  14. hope he's improved because he was so shit Chelsea wouldn't even play him against us and he was subbed at half time twice when they did - mugged by the silky skills of Riise and Diouf........... looks good going forward, but when he's defending he looks like he loses 3 yards of pace, positionally is all over the place - can deliver a good ball and beat a man though - couldn't see him doing well in the tactical stuff in europe odd one for me - Micah Richards was a £25 million pound player 2 years ago - if somebody could get his head sorted he still could be a superstar and he'd be the best right back in the prem and be playing in the world cup next summer....he'd also make us very dangerous from set pieces - great leap given he isn't the biggest
  15. hope he's improved because he was so shit Chelsea wouldn't even play him against us and he was subbed at half time twice when they did - mugged by the silky skills of Riise and Diouf........... looks good going forward, but when he's defending he looks like he loses 3 yards of pace, positionally is all over the place - can deliver a good ball and beat a man though - couldn't see him doing well in the tactical stuff in europe odd one for me - Micah Richards was a £25 million pound player 2 years ago - if somebody could get his head sorted he still could be a superstar and he'd be the best right back in the prem and be playing in the world cup next summer....he'd also make us very dangerous from set pieces - great leap given he isn't the biggest
  16. His advisors could also work out Torres's injury record, that we rotate heavily that we also protected Bellamy - a player dogged with injuries everywhere except playing for us - that we are probably the biggest and best club he could still play for -
  17. obviously missing something here with the Celtic abuse - number of Rangers followers presumably......... For me Celtic and Rangers are 'big' clubs - their support alone merits the tab - however Strachan, Walter Smith, Mcleish, O'Neill - these are not good enough managers to make these clubs any bigger or better- Mowbray is the same - he might win domestic honours but so what -he doesn't look to have anything 'special' - his tactics are standard stuff, , he looks like a decent, honest bloke who will motivate certain players - how he'd handle the super ego's of genuine 'superstars' I don't know - does he have any talent at picking out cheap talent that can progress - not really - does he have knowledge of foriegn markets to pick up quality players or the pull and reputation to get them in - again no Does he have european experience or has he handled a 'big' club before - both no Will he be able to attract the best of the celtic talent from scotland or ireland - possibly given the prestige of Celtic - could he get that talent into a unit - possibly if they are all young eager to please - but you're going to need a few homegrown superstars and a great youth set up and scouting system - is he the guy for that, does he have experience of doing that - not that I'm aware of and it takes time to put in place Celtic should be looking for something extra - someone with vision and talent - someone with an international reputation earned through experience - someone who can transform the club into one of the top 20 in europe on a shoestring - should be plenty of those around
  18. just seen on the BBC gossip how Ageuro could go to United - couple of years back he was linked with us and claimed he was a Liverpool fan - it would be disapointing if he ended up there...........unless he was rubbish
  19. United have still to sell and then spend their £80million Chelsea will be strengthening and their manager may or may not be the liability that Scolari was - if Hiddink had been in charge all season we could easily have finished 3rd. City will be buying everybody with a pulse Arsenal were crippled with injuries at the start of last season and their kids are all a year older Spurs under Redknapp from the start of the season would probably have finished 5th We need to strengthen where we are weak - another forward option, a top class left midfield and potentially both full backs, we also need a 4th centre half Torres and Gerrard could miss more games next year than this......
  20. cheers - hadn't seen the Cooper kid until the final - might explain why he came on and kicked everything in sight Robinson looked very composed for such a young kid - maybe just too young to be scared but he did well and looks like he's got a decent frame, pace and height
  21. What about Robinson and Cooper two schoolboys who played in the final - I thought robinson particularly did well?
  22. your right they are far far dodgier - some of their 'titles' and cup 'triumphs' are a joke
  23. think a couple of people have touched on it - in that confidence is the key - can't realy judge him until we've seen him play his proper game - the question is Rafa going to be able to give him that confidence or is the lad going to do something different to make himself more confident - Dossena has clearly not settled and has gone the easier route and asked to leave - not sure but I think its been difficult for Babel not least because i think he's one of only a couple of guys in the squad with any strong religious beliefs and that might be making it difficlut for him to integrate and feel part of the 'team'
  24. I think Spanish teams have the right to negotiate separate Tv deals in England its done on a league basis -
