  1. To quote a letter written in on another football website this morning... "I don't care if we have to stab a baby to get a goal at the moment"
  2. I agree that nobody really picked up on the Reina thing and everyone was after Rafa like rabid dogs. That's because its a pointless exercise trying to bury bad news with something so trivial. It was a pathetic attempt that won nobody over. And yes I'm being negative at the moment - any Liverpool fan who feels positive at the moment has his head buried in his colon.
  3. What's the betting that Torres, Dirk or Yossi come out in the press this morning (or maybe in the next few days) with some utter drivel like "I wan't to stay at Liverpool for the rest of my career". It happened with Pepe after the Fulham game on the weekend. I may be a bit cynical and mightily pissed off at the moment but I reckon when the PR department reconvened for work on Monday morning this is what happened. PR assistant: "Jesus, that was a shit result against Fulham, and Carra and Degen getting sent off too - Rafa's gonna get a right kicking in the press this week, Ian" Simon Cowell/Ian Ayre: Don't worry about it - it's all in hand - I rung Pepe this morning and told him he's going to issue a statement saying how much he loves the club and wants to stay for ever - he's sitting in a bath of yakult being spoon fed caviar out of a young live sturgeon by a team of virgins shipped in from outside of Merseyside so he honestly doesn't give a fuck what we print. And don't call me Ian, it's Simon. Now we're all but out of the CL I'm awaiting the next bit of "positive" news to eminate from the club in a vain attempt to offset the absolute complete depression that we're all under. Who do you think it'll be? Lucas? Vorinin?
  4. Marlon King's agent on 5 live last night.. "He'll be devastated, sitting in a cell with someone tonight. But he's a grown man; he's been there before and he'll take it on the chin." Can anyone think of a better final line than that?
  5. Fifa have announced their shortlist for World player of the year. It amazingly does not include Ryan "but I've been playing for ever" Giggs. On a sidenote it includes Terry, Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney. Oh, and nando has slipped in.... Full list of nominees... Michael Ballack (Germany), Chelsea Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Juventus Iker Casillas (Spain), Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Real Madrid Diego (Brazil), Juventus Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast), Chelsea Michael Essien (Ghana), Chelsea Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon), Inter Milan Steven Gerrard (England), Liverpool Thierry Henry (France), Barcelona Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden), Barcelona Andres Iniesta (Spain), Barcelona Kaka (Brazil), Real Madrid Frank Lampard (England), Chelsea Luis Fabiano (Brazil), Sevilla Lionel Messi (Argentina), Barcelona Carles Puyol (Spain), Barcelona Franck Ribery (France), Bayern Munich Wayne Rooney (England), Manchester United John Terry (England), Chelsea Fernando Torres (Spain), Liverpool David Villa (Spain), Valencia Xavi (Spain), Barcelona

  7. Yes we won nothing over last few years but last year mancs had Ronaldo and Tevez - this year they don't. When Chelsea were winning they had Mourinho. This year they don't. Strengthening is very important if you are absolutely sure you need it, and without it you have no chance of winning anything. Strengthening is vital when you can identify areas where you are just not good enough. Strengthening also brings in an element of risk. You could replace Kuyt on the right wing with a more highly rated winger like say Robben in his prime. However that does not guarantee that Liverpool will be a better team with him in. Maybe Kuyt's work ethic along with his knowledge and experience of our current system is a better option. Look at the big money players who have moved clubs and should have improved things but actually didn't, and maybe even ruined things. I'm thinking of a certain Irishman. Our rivals are in varying periods of upheaval. We are not. Our rivals need to change things around just to maintain the same levels as they have done in the past. We can maintain the same level by doing nothing. Should we be rocking the boat by bringing in new players who could possibly lessen our effectiveness, at a time when sitting still just may be all that's required?
  8. I don't agree that we have the best squad in the country - united's bench at times last year was frightening plus they've got some potential coming through (gibson, macheda), which is more than I can say for us. What I DO believe though is we have the best first 11 (especially now the ladyboy has gone from the Mancs), along with the best tactician in charge, even if other parts of his management skillset could do with a bit of work. The games against the big sides last season also support my views. I fancy us against ANYONE in a one off. As long as United don't replace Ronaldo with Messi, bringing in any new players however good they are will not make them anywhere near as effective as they were last year, at least not for a while, until they bed in. If they bring in big signings, it should cause them enough disruption in terms of finding new systems etc. If they don't bring anyone in, well, theyve just lost 2 great players in Ronaldo and Tevez. We need to take advantage of the fact that we have a settled first 11 playing in a system that everyone is happy with. For the first time it is not US who needs rebuilding... The Mancs have lost 2 of their best players, and Chelsea have a new manager, who will have his own ideas and could be as successful as Hiddink, or maybe as unsuccessful as Scolari. Whichever way you look at it, our main rivals have massive questionmarks over them. Please God let Xabi and Masch stay. Then, I think we're in the driving seat with a first team that finished just 4 points off the pace, who are settled and comfortable playing in a successful system the works for us. Our main rivals will NOT be settled, and hopefully not very comfortable for a while. We need a good start. This is our best chance. It is ours to lose.
  9. OK. The season just gone we finished 4 points shy of united, and didn't get Torres and Gerrard playing together enough. At times the football we played was breathtaking. Best I've seen us play since late 80s. We also have a manager who made mistakes which cost us the title, however he made less mistakes than in previous years - every year I see progress in not just the team, but in Rafa himself. Mancs had Ronaldo out for a bit at beginning of season, and had the lesser teams and match officials rolling over to have their little hairless bollocks tickled by Sir Alex. The Mancs COULD have a big whack to spend, but there's no way of knowing how much Glazers will release, and ever then, if any new players will actually improve the team, especially if said new players actually mean they end up playing a new system, which takes a bit of getting used to. So, if we don't buy anyone this year and mancs have lost their best player, plus it looks like the may lose their ugliest and hardest working player, all things equal, would we beat them to the title as it stands? I say yes.
  10. It wasn't just the rat - it was the fact her mouth opened up three times the size to eat it. And this was pre-CGI. And remember that girl getting knocked up by one of them and having a green rash spread around her neck. Then the birth scene where this lizard crawls out of her chuff on it's own. And then the "hold on, it's twins" and they deliver a normal baby. And just when you think it's all ok it open's its gob and a forked tongue comes out. I don't think there's ever been a better moment in telly than that. Lost and Heroes can fuck off.
  11. looking back at my last post that's possibly not the best comment coming straight underneath the title "I worry for my kids"...
  12. I live in Skewen now. They all look like her. Anyone north of Brecon is a scouser and anyone east of Bridgend is English. That is all.
  13. Living in Swansea's great. It's like Cardiff but the smell is a bit better. And we've got Catherine Zeta Jones. And Bonnie Tyler. Now if Bonnie was on the front of "Heat" talking about the credit crunch I'd probably take out a subscription. Because with a face and voice like that she must be some sort of business genius to have a number one hit.
