  1. They're proof you don't need to win trophies to be a Winnie but they are a Winnie.
  2. There's no denying they're very good and they'll be near the top in the coming years. In games where they aren't cruising to victory they get desperate though and their crowd panics. I felt it was on the verge of happening in our league game there until we gifted them a goal. Last season's run in from them was horrific and their run of 1 win in 7 in all competitions before Christmas showed that they still have it in them to let the pressure affect them. They only started to play well again when they drifted from the top and the pressure eased. If they lose to City they definitely have it in them to blow up again.
  3. Arsenal look very good at the moment. The pressure is off and we gave them a huge confidence boost when we lost at the Emirates. When the pressure hits they'll crumble again. Just like they did at Christmas and in the run-ins last season and the season before. They're just not facing any adversity at this point in time due to a spell when they're playing brilliantly coinciding with tough fixtures. When they feel that adversity they'll panic again as they always do.
  4. Switched it off after the first 5 minutes. The lack of effort from Sheffield United was embarrassing. Just have to hope we can make up the goal difference deficit from tonight when they come to Anfield next month.
  5. Just thinking that if I was drawing up a list of characteristics for my ideal United manager it would be something like this: Defensive minded Tactically inept Unambitious Poor in the transfer market Poor people management skills Dull Arrogant Unlikeable Basically a set of Hodgson's skills and he matches them. Hope he stays for a while.
  6. Midfield has been too slow and safe for me. I'd get Szoboszlai on for some energy and risk taking. The front 3 haven't been great but they're barely getting the ball. Bradley hasn't been his sharpest so I'd probably take him off and move Gomez to the right with Macca at 6.
  7. Thought he deserved his own thread as the other young lads all had one. His performance in extra time on Sunday was exceptional. I'd go as far as to say I thought for that 30 minutes he was the best player on the pitch after a slow-ish start when he first came on. There was a stat floating around about how he touched the ball twice as many times as both Enzo and Caicedo in that time and the things that stood out to me where that he was always available for the ball and that he used it really well. He just brought a calmness that was way beyond what you'd expect of someone that age. Time will tell on his level but there's definitely potential there.
  8. The only way I'd be doing those off the record interviews if I was Bayern would either be with Xabi's consent (which I think is unlikely) or in the knowledge that it's a no lose way to destabilise Leverkusen. I can only see them choosing the second option if they think getting Xabi is low percentage as they'd be trying not to piss him off otherwise.
  9. They have a more recent update saying he's waiting to see if he can play next Sunday. They're just repeating random Twitter accounts and putting their stamp on it for clicks. There's nothing more to it than that.
  10. Does that DavoCKop fella actually know anything? The article is non-committal. Basically saying it's potentially that but not known. I definitely followed him on Twitter at one point and stopped. If I remember right I think it's because he was putting clickbait headlines up.
  11. As someone else said this wouldn't be last match but could be second last. Imagine a scenario where we won the league and relegated them in the very last top flight match at Goodison Park.
  12. It was my kids that initially motivated me when I first lost weight. My then toddler saying innocently that I looked like the Fat Controller off Thomas the Tank Engine made me realise it was time to do something about it. Good luck. With a bit of motivation and discipline you can do it.
  13. About 7 years ago I was 17 stone and lost 4 stone in total over 9 months (probably one more than I should have). I kept a very strict diet for 6 days a week for 6 months (150g carbs, 50g fat, 100g protein), got to the gym 3 days a week for a mix of weights and cardio and took up running twice a week. With the running I went from barely being able to run round the block to doing 50 minute 10ks within a year. My fitness stayed really strong up until covid. I couldn't find the motivation to work out at home when the gyms closed and never really got back in my stride with the running after being really ill in the initial outbreak. With not exercising I couldn't find the motivation to eat healthy too and broke all my good habits. I've done a lot of weight training in the last 2 years but diet discipline has been off and I'm back up to 16 stone now. I had surgery late last year which stopped me working out too but I'm now on week 2 of the same regime I followed back in 2017 and already feeling good and as motivated as I was back then. It's all tough at the moment while I find fitness again but this flab is going for good this time.
  14. It wasn't his fault she didn't like smints. For him to have got a result there would have been utopia and there can be no qualms with his performance in defeat whatsoever.
  15. He was far from our worst player yesterday although he was poor. I do think he is our biggest question to answer though. He's capable of doing things that nobody else is and brings genuine 'wow' moments but for 2 years now my eyes tell me we look a better team overall when he's not there. He lacks the discipline (and maybe even appetite) to play right back and doesn't have the energy or awareness without the ball our current midfield set up demands. If we shape the team around him he'll be the star but overall as team we may be worse off.
  16. Alisson didn't kick the ball away because Virgil got between him and the ball so he ended up kicking Virgil. Had Virgil dealt with the ball as he should have done then they don't score. It's why he could be seen saying sorry to Ali afterwards. For the 3rd Virgil is also way too casual in closing the ball down and then deflects the shot when he reacts late. On the first there's a few things wrong but Virgil charging out into midfield and leaving space behind him is one of them. Alisson's had better days but this was on way more than just him.
  17. Exactly my thought. We were poor but they aren't a mentally tough team and their crowd get edgy. I think we'd have nicked it if we hadn't gifted them it but that 2nd goal got them all up and we lost our way completely.
  18. We had a definite one not given at Stamford Bridge this season too.
  19. De Zerbi's results against shit teams who play a low block worry me most. His teams get ripped apart on the counter by them often and he'd face that a lot more here. I also see nothing in how Thomas Frank sets Brentford up to make me think he'd work well here. He'd need to set us up in a way he hasn't got the experience of implementing. The way Brentford play wouldn't work here.
  20. If they both get the same deduction they'd only be two points behind Forest and Sheffield United and only four behind Burnley. I can see them making that up easily.
  21. I think Forest getting a points deduction with them would enable them to stay up if they do get more taken off them. I do fancy Luton to stay up at this point but Forest look so bad I can't see how they stay above them.
  22. This was already a near impossible thread to masturbate to. It's not getting easier.
