Hicks and Gillett Officially Put LFC Up For Sale
Njr replied to Paisley Red's topic in FF - Football Forum
It depends on how much debt there is, more debt more you pay interest, less there is for profit. Hence the comments about wanting more equity in the club. Equity is shareholders funds. A leveraged buy out uses high levels of debt which is risky and attracts higher levels of interest -
It makes sense there would be a number of idiots like me who would consider paying over the odds for the shares!

Trying to work out this summers transfer strategy
Njr replied to Rashid's topic in FF - Football Forum
It would look like Barry is a little quicker than Xavi, his one weakness which is why Fabregas is choosen in front of him for Spain. Speed is essential in the premier league. Barry probably score more goals, penalties aside.- 103 replies

I suspect he is trying to appear conciliatory with Villa fans, he has to play there next season one way or another
-
My feeling, and he didn't seem to be a bad bloke

Why is Rafa so bullish about transfers this summer?

My view as well spend money on quality on quantity -
Spot on, although Carragher and Reina have been good

Villa captain Barry told to sign for Liverpool - by his own team-mate

When you look at what we paid for Lucas and for Babel, both for promise. As Barry is a current England International £10m would be a steal, he is worth half a Hargreaves ? -
Realistically, what does the season hold for us now?
Njr replied to Paul's topic in FF - Football Forum
I agree, if you look at the start of the season we did really well, should have beaten Chelsea, but an eccentric refereeing decision counted against us. With this league it is momentum, the international break and Aggers injury cost us and we lost it. The biggest issue with Rafa is could he turn it round, the yanks issue nearly made that impossible. The major issue for me is how many players have we got that would fit into the Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U, not enough IMHO. When we settled for Pennant rather than Alves that made a statement. The side is better than it has ever been. What I am not sure is whether Rafa can make it even better or is a new man required to do that. -

The problem is nowadays £20 a season is nothing. When Chelsea started spending money and winning more games the bar was raised. The valid comparison is not with Houllier but with Ferguson and Chelsea. -
Great day to be born, my birthday as well although considerably older :-(

Why worry about when your miles away in the USA, money is money
-
We should be a little wary, very people invest in football clubs for fun, this will be business, and as such may not always offer what we as fans may want
-
And we needed a striker, could argue we still do require a striker.

I am not totally depressed, having supported Liverpool for over 40 years I have seem more bad times recently, the Souness years being the worst. The major problem we have is not having a Ronaldo, players that will run with the ball against defenders, something that will make a difference when all a team wants to do is to defend. We should get 10 goals on average from each player in midfield, that is something we are failing to do. What I am worried about is whether the problem is we are missing Paco, lots of comments were made on how Rafa relied on him.

It is interesting from the TV replays it never shows Carragher pulled him over, he might of done, Clattenburg couldn't see
-
I am not so certain, we will get injuries in the year and Crouch will play. It just won't 60 games a season.
-
I think Babel is going to OK, he is quick, strong and appears to control the ball well.
-
Agreed, he was a target man, i.e. no pace. Problem he had no touch either
-
Probably not playing Sunday
-
He has mellowed, a while ago it would have been Keane or Ince. I would have to go for the diving Cole rather than Cashley
-
The worries I have is the pressure on the player, also if he gets injured we are up the creek etc.

Have a laugh from he BBC web site "If Steve Bennett knew a bit more about the game and not the rules inside out, he'd be a really top referee. He's a manufactured referee. "The England captain Steven Gerrard is looking at Bennett and saying 'you've got to give a penalty'. "The first penalty knocked the stuffing out of us."

Nor have I, but there yank and there are yanks. With Glaser in charge a team is winning the premiership. I would settle for that.
