  1. He also put that senile twat motson in his place on five live on monday night. Motson was seriously trying to argue that Liverpool are no longer a bigger club than Chelsea because we haven't won the league in 20 years. Aldo hit back by saying that we won the European Cup 6 years ago and that it doesn't matter what Chelsea does, they will never be Liverpool. Top stuff. Even Steve Claridge (who I normally can't stand) was sticking up for us.

  6. there's been some utter dross when it comes to sitcoms on the bbc over the last few years. the green green grass, goodnight sweetheart (or anything involving nicholas lyndhurst), jam and jerusalem etc. there was also an awful sitcom which had jasper carrot in it (i can't recall the name). my family was bearable for a coupe of series. now it's outstayed its welcome by about ten years and 15 series.

  10. Honestly it beggars belief, it really does: ....................... Four months after he arrived at Anfield, Roy Hodgson will finally have the chance to show Liverpool fans he is a good manager. If Hodgson didn’t appreciate how big a job he was taking on at Liverpool, he does now and it is massive. He came in as manager and he’s had a really tough time. Results have not been good, which he must partly be responsible for, but there’s no getting away from the impact the problems off the field have had. John W Henry coming in to replace the disastrous Hicks and Gillett, who were big cowboy hats and no cattle, will lift the cloud which has been hanging over Anfield. As far as Hodgson is concerned, this will be day one of his reign at Liverpool. I know you can’t ignore Liverpool’s poor results, but now Hodgson will be able to manage Liverpool without worrying about what is going on in the boardroom. The Kop were calling for Kenny during the defeat to Blackpool, but Roy Hodgson has not become a bad manager in just seven games. Everything must be kept in context and this is the worst Liverpool team I can remember in a long time. People talk about Graeme Souness’ side in the early 1990s, but this is worse. With a few notable exceptions - and everybody knows who I’m talking about - the team is way short of quality. Most managers tell their chairman they need two or three players to complete their team, but Roy needs six or seven. January is going to be very important for Liverpool and they have got to try and get some better players in. The good thing for Hodgson is that Henry has shown with the Boston Red Sox that he understands the need to speculate to accumulate. He understands the need for talent in a squad - or roster as they call it over there - and how you need to constantly improve your playing staff. In that sense Hodgson will be given a chance and now it will be up to him to show what he can do. Of course, football is littered with examples of managers who have failed to survive a takeover, but I believe them when they say Hodgson will be given time. People like Christian Purslow and Ian Ayre, who appointed Hodgson in the summer, will probably still be on the board and they will not want to get rid of Hodgson so soon. The ball is now in Hodgson’s court and he has got to engineer an improvement in results. If not, then he knows what will happen. I know some Liverpool fans have their reservations about Henry and are thinking ‘oh no, not another American after Hicks and Gillett’, but this guy looks different. I have great faith in Martin Broughton and he wouldn’t be doing this deal if he didn’t feel it was in the best interests of Liverpool Football Club. He will make sure there are guarantees written into the contract regarding paying off the debt, buying players and sorting out the stadium. After Hicks and Gillett, this really is a new era for everyone at Liverpool Football Club. Are we really that bad? Do we need as many as 6 or 7 players? How is this different from last season when the then manager was facing same problems? Mark Lawrenson column - Roy Hodgson can't wait for his Anfield reign to begin once the Liverpool takeover is complete - Mark Lawrenson - MirrorFootball.co.uk :wallbutt:
