  1. Agreed that Chimbonda is deadly!and what a name! Have to say this is a really good thread! Keep it going.........
  2. To me,Maradonna,Maldini,Cruyff,Kenny,Muller,Beckenbauer,Moore,Pele, and possibly Zidane and a few others are in the league just above the likes of Banks,Keane,Schmeichael,Hansen,Gullit Rijkard to name but a few that spring to mind. Van Basten would have been in the first group were it not for injury. Best probably had more natural talent then Kenny or Booby Charlton but he didn't do as much in his career or have as much longetivity at the top level so imo i would put him below them in the second level.
  3. :D Gotta love the video of the worlds worst tackles that was going around the internet a while back.Half of them were from Mexico. They make Souness look like a ballerina!
  4. Could be wrong but wasn't one of the biggest gangs in New York,an Irish gang called the Westies?
  5. Rooney,Henry,Alonso,Ronaldinho, the Dutch, the Czechs,Lucas Podolski,Riquelme and possibly some of the African nations. Always enjoyed watching the Mexicans because they've always got great skills(Blanco) and they're dirty little snots on the field(though they're lovely people in general).Would love to see them wind up Neville with their dirty tricks! 8)
  6. Gerrard,Alonso,Carra and Finnan are all undoubtedly world class.I would say Reina is potentially world class(very close at the moment as he is one of the best keepers in the premiership imo, just behind Cech and Given),while Kewell was world class at Leeds and hopefully will get back that form. I would consider world class as give or take the best ten or so players in a position.
  7. Hibs and Accrington Stanley. Ajax are a club i've a real soft spot for,as are AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen. Also I met a load of Cork lads on holiday,so Cork are my favourite team in Ireland.
  8. It was a really shitty thing to do,but to be honest i dont think it was so much him but his advisers who just saw pound signs. The lad is very young and doesn't seem to be the brightest.I mean he joined Man United,a team which is loathed by everyone in the city of Liverpool.Thats not exactly a smart move if your'e such a young Scouse talent playing for Everton. Im just saying that Rooney gets a hell of alot of undeserved stick. His only blemish off the field is being a granny shagger.By all accounts, hes a very likeable lad.
  9. I know two of Rooney's uncles from years ago and they're both decent lads.Rooney comes from an extremely tough background but by all accounts is a decent lad also. He's a world class player yet still gives 100% in every game unlike some of the other so called talents in the United team like O'Shea,Ferdinand and Ronaldo.Face it if he was with Liverpool,we'd worship him for his talent, passion and for being one of our own.He plays with a team I despise(United) and a team i dont really give a shit about(England) but I do have alot of pride that our city has produced by far the two best players in the country. An attack like that on Rooney's background,is to me an attack on Liverpudlians.Rooney might be a granny shagger :tease: but he's not a little shit like Dyer or Bowyer.
  10. Ireland always had outstanding talents but the fact is that Charlton, like him or loath him,got your boys to a number of tournaments for the first time where they did extremely well.Having said that i agree that Bob would have worked wonders with Ireland.I mean they had a strong core of one of the greatest club sides ever, plus the immaculate Mcgrath, the likes of Bonner,Moran,Stapleton,O'Leary and Brady thrown in also. Have to say that Robson was an outstanding manager so all isn't too bad.He still has alot to give the game.Ireland seem to have a number of quality young players coming up like O'Brien,Ireland and Doyle,so his advice could be invaluable to them. Out of interest who else wanted the job.It seemed a straight choice between Robson/Staunton and Venables, once O'Neill was out of the running? If that is the case then i think the fai made the right decision in choosing a great footballing man and a man who won a 102 caps for his country over a cockney mercenary. I await a barage of abuse from across the sea. :telloff: :telloff: :telloff: :whoops:
  11. lucas podolski is going to be the revelation of the world cup i reckon.he's got everything in his locker and with home advantage i could see him being among the top scorers.germany also have an easy group and are likely to play sweden in the second round, who are extremely tough but i cant see the germans going out to them.
  12. I've seen him a few times this season and he looks ace!Id like him or else Nolan.
  13. Don't worry lads next time i meet up with old team mates for a five a side i'll sort him out!  A sly Whelan tackle! Team is Me,Kenny Aldo,Nicol with Jan as stick goalie against McMahon,Beglin,Houghton,Hansen and Mickey Quinn as guest striker with Lawro as cheerleader.
  14. Totally agree. He has no real future and he has ten times more problems than bestie because he has severe mental health problems.
  15. Not wishing to insult any Rangers fans on here but i think we'd hammer them so badly despite all the hype there'd be.
  16. Beglin was a magnificent defender but im so pissed off with him and Houghton and McMahon its unreal. They can all fuck off.Its a terrible thing to be pissed off with great players but you dont see Nicol,Rush,Whelan(myself ;) )and Kenny insulting the club especially when we are doing well.
  17. Sorry i meant the norwegian kid not Fat Frankie
  18. Thats absolute quality!Have to say I wish British punditry was as entertaining as that!
