  1. He's really a centrist politician. You can't deny he pumped money into public services like schools and the NHS, minimum wages and gay rights, but he also wanted people to be aspirational and even lurched to the right on ID cards (Freedom of Information seemingly a bigger regret than Iraq). Some truth in what he said to Marr in naively trying to please all the people when first in office.
  2. I did see it paraphrased that he believes Labour should have room to manoeuvre and fight from the left, right and centre. Pragmatic I suppose. The titbits have been quite interesting and you can see on foxhunting how he's tried to remain libeeral but carry out PLP policy. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the Brown household.... (like Blair I didn't have high hopes for Gordon either)
  3. My mam said 'I'll kill you' maybe 100 times... but I dodged her culinary assassination attempts.
  4. Some allege Hague is gay/bi? That must measure 0.000000000001 on the shockometer.
  5. No. Sort of low-budget Lotr meets Witchfinder General.
  6. Thought NHS was a good idea and I'm unsure how medically skilled the 111 staff will be. Apparently 1/4 of callers required hospital or a doctor and personally if I was seriously worried about somebody I'd ring 999 rather than risk it. The problem with many comdem proposals is that these are hastily thought out cuts with half-baked replacements put in place.
  7. Never struck me as the type for developing youth and I think his view at Liverpool is short-termist (wise as it's not the board but the fans that'll turn on him). Hope not as there's been years of squabbling and a few quid thrown at the academy. Chelsea managers seem to have the same problem, attempt to develop youth and it'll probably cost your job.
  8. Can't see the kids getting a chance under Roy.
  9. *sigh* Could and should feel angry but it's so effin demoralising you just wait for the next kick.
  10. It's an odd situation where the Libs seem to defend Tory policy even more staunchly than their coalition partners. Coalition puts up strong defence on IFS report
  11. Kenneth Huang's non-bid exposes the poverty of Liverpool's options - Telegraph
  12. I tend to agree that if a buyer is convinced he has the resources to buy the club he'll go straight to Broughton rather than having to whip up a bit of PR to paper over the cracks.
  13. No, you may have seen more robust haggling at a second-hand car dealership, and his website may look like it was coded by Dave Usher and so what if his proof of finances were the word of Jim Boardman and somebody called Bamba... surely you'd sell your house to Kenny Huang? But yep, it strikes me that his bid was similar to that of L4. Scratch the surface and there's fuck all to pin your confidence on. Next bidder please.
  14. Another hour, another Anny Road piece... http://www.anfieldroad.com/news/201008213931/reds-still-held-to-ransom-by-outrageous-asking-price.html/
  15. Aye, I've no idea of the sums but when would the be the ideal time for a bidder to strike to get the best deal? Now or sit tight until October?
  16. A companion piece, cept it looks a tad liable, no doubt from the same Huang source: Anfield Road » And then there were none.
  17. You believe QSL could run Liverpool FC? Go to their website and revel in their undoubted wealth and professionalism: About QSL Sports
  18. I tend to follow your sceptical line and Jeremy Paxman's maxim: Why is this lying bastard lying to me?
  19. My main objection to today's Times stories would be that Broughton must come out and name bidders (which would upset many interested parties) and give greater transparency. This isn't the Liverpool way and the board should just quietly go about their business.
