  1. What is it you're suggesting? Why do you think UEM would have a vested interest in Huang's proposal? Do you have any info contrary to his that you're willing to share?
  2. I'd like to think we have the luxury of choosing between two or more potential new owners but I really don't think that's the case. If there was even just one more serious bidder, why would Gillete have had to wheel out his little pauper (relatively speaking) friend from Syria to stall Huang's negotiations? Surely there would have been no need to invent interest if there was another genuine offer on the table?
  3. Do they get constantly namechecked by their managers though? It's almost like Purslow, via Hodgson, is trying to make a point.
  4. True. But once it's reposessed your chances of buying that house decrease as more people are interested in buying at the reduced cost. If a prospective buyer really wants us, they may have to consider paying the premium to secure the deal. Having said that, for various other reasons, I still feel we won't be sold any time soo.
  5. And if we don't, or we get a couple of journeymen or young prospects, is he still as bad as Michael Owen? £5m (ish, if we're lucky) net spend is barely investing in the team and I wouldn't blame Torres if he was to go, though I would blame him, and Broughton, if he goes to Chelsea.
  6. Ability wise I don't think Cole is as good as has been made out, so from that point of view he's not an amazing signing. However, I am still pleasantly surprised at the signing as it signals that perhaps things are due for a change at LFC. I don't believe Cole would have signed for us if, in the immediate future, our chance of keeping our top players was slim, and in the mid term if there was no prospect of new ownership. Nor do I believe we were his only realistic choice, as I don't doubt for one minute that Arsenal and Spurs (particularly the latter) would have paid him as much, if not more, than us. Also, the Mancs were sniffing about for months, though I don't know if they ever made him an offer.
  7. Apparently he's gone there because he didn't win any titles at Liverpool.
  8. Does he want to leave though? Are there any quotes or credible sources to verify this?
  9. It's really not. I wouldn't have posted it, and I don't agree with some parts of it. But I'm not about to have a go at someone who spends much of his time on this forum criticising the owners and board, criticism which is plentiful in the post that you and others have taken exception to.
  10. Yes and if you've used it what you should have seen was considered criticism for Rafa and suggestions that the summer might be time for a change. Just becuase he wasn't foaming at the mouth, or using personal attacks like many idiots on here doesn't make him a staunch Benitez defender, to the point of criticising the next manager. What you would have also seen, if you really were intersted in lifetime fan's motives (instead of deciding for him), was lots and lots of criticism for the owners and board. And if you look more closely at the opening post, while it is about Hodgson, it's also ostensibly another attack in sheer frustration at those same shitty owners and board.
  11. Fucks sake, talk about devisive. Let's make this into another Rafa thread shall we? Stupid post.
  12. It's hardly surprising few feel inspired to write an ode to the man. But I do hope he does exceptionally well.
  13. Good luck to Roy. I'm not happy, as such, with this appointment as there's no doubt if the club was in a healthier position he probably wouldn't have got a look in, but under the circumstances he's a sensible choice and I am happy for the man himself. I don't have the highest of hopes about the next few years but that is not a reflection of Hodgson who, of course, I hope does brilliantly.
  14. Been waiting for the manager to be confirmed. No, I don't think we will finish higher than 7th. I believe Torres and Gerrard will be sold for a combined fee of no more than £80m and Roy will be lucky to get £30m to replace them and plug the other gaps in the team. The only way we'll finish higher, and maybe even push for the top 4, is if we are still in touching distance at Christmas with new owners ready for the January transfer window - but I don't believe this will be the case.
  15. So you don't think some of the comments I posted were personal in nature? Calling into question someone's (and not just someone, the manager of LFC) honesty and integrity, and saying you hate them sounds like personal abuse to me, and was widespread on this board. And it's far more personal and abusive than saying "Woy" (I haven't seen anything worse, not saying there hasn't been, I just haven't seen it). There's sod all wrong with people questionning Hodgson's management credentials, especially before he has taken up a post with us. If we were thinking of appointing Bryan Robson I'd be up in arms if people weren't quesionning it. If/ when Hodgson gets appointed manager of LFC and people therefore then have reason to support him, only then should their conduct towards him be judged (apart from any possible, and genuine, personal abuse, manager of LFC or not he doesn't deserve that).
  16. It wasn't to back up some awkward point at all. It was to show that some of Benitez's biggest detractors who are now telling people not to abuse Hodgson while claiming they never got personal with Benitez were as personally abusive, if not more so, towards the previous manager. When challenged, "name names" was the repeated request, eventually someone had to.
  17. Juan, I am long since over it. I said before he went that if the owners remain it would be best if Benitez leaves (and regarding the owners that sadly appears to be the case), I even argued for Roy's appointment. And I've used those same words myself "he's gone, get over it/move on" (oh and was called a Rafapologist for those very words). As I say it's not only name calling that constitutes abuse, though I agree I can't ever recall you doing that. But to suggest that not many people either made it personal, or didn't use personal remarks or accusations against Benitez is a tad blinkered as it could be argued you were one of those people. I'm not asking for a sanitised forum, I'm arguing that personal abuse/attacks were as inappropriate to Benitez as much as they are to Roy. People just need to consider what is deemed abusive, as I for one would much rather be called a "cunt" than have my honesty or integrity questionned.
  18. Just for the record, the personal digs and sniping at Rafa did not just constitute things like, "fat spanish waiter" and "cunt" etc, there was a lot more of it than that, some implied, some blatant, such as: Do posts like this constitute personal abuse? If not "abuse" then they are certainly attacks of a personal nature. If stuff like this was said about Hodgson this forum would presumably go into meltdown. edit - by the way, if you want names Juan, most of the above was posted by yourself (not the "cunt" one though, apart from the reply)
  19. What planet are you living on? If Gerrard and Torres leave then the main reason will be because the club is not being sold any time soon, and for the forseeable future will be bereft of ambition. Given that, why would the manager get a large percentage of the funds they'd generate? The whole point of Gerrard and Torres leaving will be because they see a lack of investment in the team. I'd wager the next manager would get a maximum 25% of the combined Gerrard/Torres fees.
  20. Oh well it could, or definitely would as some insisted, have been 16m.
  21. The main issue surely is Rooney publically slagging them off for it. Was he right to do so, in your opinion?
  22. I don't think anybody is saying they should be world beaters, or very few are. But there's things Capello can do which could instantly improve England as a team, and would allow their most influential players to play in a more natural role Drop Heskey. Put Gerrard on the right, Cole on the left. Play Gerrard behind Rooney. Perhaps even play 5-3-2 with attacking full backs, Barry in the holding role, freeing up Gerrard and Lampard to both attack. Yet very few of these things have been tried and tested by Capello, instead preferring to stick to a rigid 4-4-2 and relying on players/ formations which failed previous England managers - did he study how England played before his arrival? To me it looks like he's just taken the easy options and when it's come to the crunch he's been found out.
  23. You'll get no arguments from me on most of that. But I ask you, in relation to England getting out of the group, do they have better players than the other 3 teams? Surely you have to answer yes to that? If they have the best players of that group and supposedly one of the best managers in the world, they should be getting out of the group reasonably comfortably, i.e. they shouldn't be going into the final match desperate for a win. The manager has to be questionned, he is not getting the best out of the players at his disposal.
  24. There's no doubt English players are tactically and technically limited, therefore the manager needs to manage them better - and he's simply not doing that. England players look clueless, they barely seem to know what position they are playing in, there is a serious lack of cohesion, and this is down to Capello picking the wrong players, in the wrong positions and possibly in the wrong formation. These things should have been well ironed out before the tounament, instead there were (and still are) question marks over several key issues. Capello is supposed to be the creme de la creme, he is so far from that at the moment it's untrue, he is managing like a novice.
