  1. I wish. Also remember a nighttime home game in 99-00 (I think against Bradford or West Ham). The ball was hoofed (and I mean hoofed) into his face. He went down for a second, but whereas us mere mortals would stay down for a while holding our face, he leapt up, shook his head to get rid of the cobwebs and sprinted off. What a guy... He was often ridiculed for only managing goals against Hull, but as Dave points out, he made a very important contribution that season. Fowler was out for virtually the whole season and Owen was another long-term absentee. So Camara and Meijer were the main strikeforce for alot of games- including the win at Highbury and draw at Man Utd. Also remember he had a good game in the memorable 3-1 home win v Leeds (Murphy & Berger piledrivers). He also got the crowd going when he came off the bench, and I remember him inspiring a late winner at home to Newcastle late that season. Although we missed out on the CL place that season due to a terrible finish, I still have fond memories of it. Gerrard and Thompson were becoming regulars in the side, Camara scored some brilliant goals, Berger was on fire, H & H made us the meanest defence in the country. And Mad Erik provided the entertainment!
  2. Proud to have 'Meijer 18' on my treble season shirt- still yet to see another like it.
  3. Would be a good time for Spain to finally realise their potential in a major tournament. Let's face it, anything beats supporting England (and I am English despite the location)
  4. Got 4 for the Apollo. Never seen them in the flesh, but the gigs I've seen on MTV looked awesome
  5. The ecru one is getting embarassed by PSG (minus the Carlsberg sponsor)
  6. By the way- how poorly prodcued is the new away shirt? Terrible plastic badges and it feels so cheap.
  7. Why would we be wearing the away shirt against Spurs?
  8. Says he who has a pic of Rob Jones wearing the worst away kit of all time!
  9. Argentina & Spain wore Le Coq at Mexico 86.
  10. It's all our fault- if it wasn't for Heysel they'd be used to dealing with these big European ties
  11. Anyone remember Bukta from the 1970s? Quality. Or how about a nice bit of le coq sportif
  12. Can't believe Kenyon sat in a restaurant opposite Lyon's ground and called them demanding a meeting to discuss Essien. Made up that Lyon stayed strong and told him to do one. I hate Kenyon almost as much as I hate Rio Ferdinand, and that's saying something.
  13. Ciise. He is so cocky and arrogant that he knows he'll score.
  14. Afternoon folks. Does anyone know if all ST holders are to get new fancards for the new swipe-card entry system? It's just that a few of may mates have had new cards and I haven't! Cheers
  15. The star signifies 10 championships (Juve have about 25 titles now). Milan & Inter both have one star. Have you noticed how England and Celtic both have 1 star on their shirts? Signifies the 1966 world cup win and the 1967 European cup win. I hope we don't go down the route of living on past glories like they have.
  16. Yeah I saw Jordan too. Good on him for planning to sue them.
  17. It's an unfair comparison. Nunez was never the £3m/£4m player we were led to believe. Those figures were made up to make the Owen sale look like a better deal for Liverpool. And for the record, he contributed more than GH's three signings in the summer of 2002. That's not another dig against GH, it's meant to illustrate that Nunez wasn't all that bad.
  18. Anyone see Howard Kendall on SSN last night? I don't need to tell you what he was moaning about, but it involved the years 1985 and 1987 and a certain UEFA ban.
  19. One of the defining moments of that season was the cup game at Chelsea. 2-0 up at HT & ended up losing 4-2. Our defence (apart from Wright) and GK were abysmal (Scales moved to Spurs late 96). Our central midfield also needed new faces- Barnes, as much as I love him, was past it and Thomas & Redknapp weren't really on top form in 2nd half of that season. Still some good games and great attacking football (5-1 v Chelsea, winning at Upton Park, Highbury & WHL), but they ran out of steam.
  20. The obvious floors in your last peice are your spelling and grammar.
  21. Yeah Johansson was well funny! Did you hear Carra in his interview "I can't see the word 'winners' on this medal. I thinkn they've given me the wrong one". Class
  22. Anyone who went to EVERY away league game this season deserves a sainthood, never mind a European Cup. Top man.
  23. I think the key point is not to have any regrets at the end. If each player gives everything and plays to the best of their ability, then we'll win.
