  1. Don't usually mind Maddock. He's certainly alot better than most of the red-top writers. And to be fair to him, he's usually spot on with his comments (IMO). McGovern is a funny guy. If it's tips you're after though, he's probably not your man.
  2. You just need to ask yourself where he was playing during our 11 match winning streak and you have your answer as to what his best position is (he was playing RM by the way).
  3. Not only did he win a world cup on his own. He won Serie A for Napoli on his own too. Then he discovered cocaine...
  4. That queue was unbelievable. Have got into the ground in plenty of time on previous visits but left it til 3.45pm this time- finally got in with about 10 mins of the game already gone. Their new ground looks pretty impressive though...
  5. Am I the only one who thinks this continual Djimi-bashing is a joke? Don't get me wrong- he's not my favourite player and I don't think he's ever been good enough for the first team. However, he was a big part of last season's success and certainly doesn't deserve some of the abuse he's taken recently.
  6. Bitterness oozes out of his every word. Number of CL winners medals held by Djimi Traore= 1 Number of CL winners medals held by Everton FC= 0
  7. I can't see Crouch and Fowler working when they don't have an ounce of pace between them.
  8. I also have a funny feeling that Morientes could prove a few people wrong on Wed. Personally wouldn't start with Crouch. Fowler and Nando for me.
  9. The thing about Fowler is that he needs a good consistent run of games before he starts firing (always has done). He hasn't had that yet, and by the time he has, it could be too late for him to get that contract extension. Hope not though. Not sure what to make of Cisse. Something tells me that if he got a consistent run in the side (up front), he could start scoring regularly. But it would appear that Rafa has already made his mind up on Djibbers. And on what we've seen so far, the right decision is probably to get rid whilst he'll still command a good fee. Don't want another EHD on our hands. Some of Morientes' touches and link play takes my breath away. And I agree that he mostly works his socks off. However, the stats don't lie and there's no hiding the fact that he's been a big disappointment. I feel that the only way he'll save himself is for him to shoot us to FA or European Cup glory. Based upon the limited ability that everyone knew he had, Crouch has been a success. When I say 'limited ability', I mean when compared with strikers playing at the very top level. Do not necessarily see him as a first-choice long term, but I reckon he's got a big future at the club.
  10. We still won that game so it didn't matter so much. Great chip though!
  11. Could have a huge part to play in the next 3 months- especially in Europe. Has played relatively few games this season too- so should be nice and fresh. Along with Gerrard, looks our most likely source of goals.
  12. Actually bumped into ex-Hollyoaks and now Holby City megastar James Redmond at the Strokes gig in Bristol last night. Season ticket holder last I heard.

  19. People look back on previous World Cups through rose-tinted specs. Argentina were a one-man team in 1986. Brazil may have had Zico and Socrates in 1982, but they had possibly the worst Brazilian striker of all time up front (Serginho). In 94 they had Romario but little else of note. The great German teams- you could possibly call Matthaus, Beckenbauer and Gerd Muller great players. But apart from that? Klinsmann maybe? Granted, the days of Brazil 1970 are long gone.
  20. Owen. He'll be fresh after his injury lay-off and should get the best service of his England career.
  21. Up there with Back to the Future in the favourite films of my childhood years. And as you say- Morita stole the show. RIP

  23. Yeah I noticed that. But were they the genuine article? The ones I saw yesterday had five stars under the liverbird (which the players' ones obviously didn't). I've ordered one, but will be returning it if it's not the same as the one the players wore (which had the Champions league logo under the liverbird). Also saw a bloke wearing the new CL shirt yesterday, which I also thought wasn't out yet!
  24. I was (un)lucky enough to be at the Cottage on Saturday. And I'm sorry, but the team was almost entirely to blame for this defeat. The first 45 minutes was one of the worst team performances I can remember under Rafa. At the end of the day, Rafa can do little once they cross the white line. The team he put out was a strong one, but they let him down badly. The only player who probably wasn't worth a starting place was Josemi, and even he has shown some signs of improvement this season (although I admit he was truly woeful in this game and overall doesn't look up to it). Look at the attacking players who started: Cisse, Morientes, Kewell, Riise. With Alonso and Sissoko sitting just behind. These players should have been ripping Fulham to shreds from the first minute. But Riise was terrible, Morientes was anonymous and Kewell, although he wasn't as bad as all that, didn't provide a great deal. Sissoko's passing was erratic. The only players to come out of this game with real credit were Carra, Hyypia, Alonso and Cisse. Rafa sent a good, strong team out and they didn't do the business. So in my book, the players should get the majority of the blame.
