Was reading in the press here last week that Carvalho has his heart set on playing for Portugal but selecao have shown zero interest in him so far.

Isn't the homegrown thing more about having several years youth development at a UK club rather than what national team you play for? I think Lukaku, Pogba, Suso and Januzaj plus others count, so I don't think it matters which country Carvalho opts for, he'd be fine anyway.

'Homegrown' suggests the player must be English - but in fact it is a player of any nationality that has spent at least three seasons training at a professional English or Welsh club before the age of 21

Yeah I realised as soon as I'd said it but couldn't be arsed going back over it so just moved on.
