  1. I think the peak of Henderson hatred was reached last night when someone wrote in one of the threads that the captain has been a coward for the past few years. And the person didn't even dial back on that claim when called out for it.
  2. We did eventually score from a corner to win the game and you're still having a whinge. This is after the previous game in which 3 of our goals came from corner kicks. What more do you want? We consistently have one of the best records at set pieces every season. Even if we took a good corner kick every single time, it still wont lead to a goal every single time because the odds are heavily against it happening. Only 4% of all goals scored by teams come from a corner kick. The opposition are allowed to have tall players or keepers, who are good in the air and well placed to deal with even the best of deliveries. Many football fans just cant seem to deal with this simple concept.
  3. Elliott retains the ball better than any of our other midfielders bar Thiago. He is usually quite positive with his passing and shows a lot of energy winning the ball back too. He is by far the best of the bunch we have available in midfield at the moment, creatively and defensively. Dominated the game yesterday in a way Jones or Keita rarely ever do.
  4. I noted that too. I'm shocked there isn't a Twitter campaign going yet.
  5. Henderson had a brilliant game at Goodison last season with a goal & assist iirc. And the season before that, he scored a last minute winner there which was ruled out by one of the worst VAR calls in recent years. So yeah, Henderson's recent record at Goodison means it would have been great to have him available.
  6. Spot on. Conte, Rafa or Mourinho would have been calling them out explicitly for being the tight fisted cunts they are. Scott Scotty Parker even did similar with Bournemouth's owner on Saturday. Lost his job for having the audacity. I dont think FSG have the balls to sack Klopp if he mouthed off publicly though. John Henry would be posting daily apology videos if that ever happens.
  7. Injuries happened and then a Keita contract situation developed. I'm sure you are aware of these things. And I'm sure you know a manager is allowed to change his mind when things changed and he feels the need to ask for a player in a position which he initially thought would be ok. Is it too much for him to ask FSG to dip a little deeper into their loaded pockets? Furthermore, Klopp was hardly going to come to a press conference weeks ago when everyone was fit, and start naming some of his midfielders as completely useless.
  8. The own goal simply wasnt offside according to the current rules. It's a shitty rule but other goals have been given in similar situations. It's not as if VAR and the ref decided to give the goal for the laughs. They had to because that's the way the rule is currently interpreted. Not sure why it is being insinuated we lost the CL due to a similar thing though. Unless we have a definitive angle which confirms Vinicius was offside when he tapped in the cross.
  9. Top, top "Bournemouth fans deserved to have their faces rubbed in it" analysis. Cheering Man City goals while your team is being smacked all over the place? So stupid. A pity Carvalho didnt get the penalty he should have. He did get fouled for the first incident and landed badly. I just reckon VAR didn't want to hand us an easy chance to break the record & probably because of pity on Bournemouth. 9-0 is still a fantastic result either way. John Henry escaped mention in this report but he'd better not be thinking the performance and result means we dont need a new signing.
  10. It's easy for the banter crowd to point at Mane's absence being a factor. But our fans should know better. Our last 2 wins at Old Trafford featured Mane being benched. Mane being gone or Salah's new salary aren't the reasons why our wide forwards are too wide. Klopp actually mentioned in an interview that he would prefer Diaz closer to the box but the player himself likes being wide most of the time and that the team is getting used to that.
  11. This was a great podcast. You guys certainly weren't hysterical, considering the fact that it was recorded shortly after the game. I listened to a couple other Liverpool podcasts right after the game elsewhere and there was no sense of perspective applied. Firmino is in decline and would comfortably be our 5th or 6th choice when everyone is fit and firing. He would still be capable of some moments of quality but we shouldnt expect many instances. Van Dijk and Trent need a reality check. Fabinho & Hendo need to do better. FSG need to loosen up and back the manager more.
  12. I wasn't surprised by what Van Dijk did. There have been numerous examples of him not being aggressive in closing down immediate threat. He was doing this kind of thing before his ACL injury, so we cant really use the injury as an excuse for his "cautious defending". Good to see Carragher highlight it and the recent examples including the non-defending van Dijk did in the lead up to Madrid's goal in the final. We need him to cut that shit out. I believe Milner would be telling him off in the dressing room much more strongly about that Utd goal.
  13. I'm having a hard time believing the lines drawn for Arsenal's 2nd goal are accurate. I would have expected the lines to run somewhat parallel to the 18 yard line. Unless the groundsman at Bournemouth has drawn up the wonkiest penalty box in the league.
  14. Yep, this is the closest Klopp has ever come to saying "give me some proper spending power, you tight cunts!!"
  15. Noticed that it is now officially called "Player of the Match" award and no longer "Man of the Match".
  16. Great pod. Had to chuckle when Dave was praising Suarez for never getting red carded while at Liverpool. Find someone who loves you unconditionally like Mr Usher loves Suarez. Ha!! Yeah, Suarez didn't get caught by refs while on the field but he did get long bans for naughty behaviour. Hopefully Nunez doesn't go biting people as soon as he returns from this 3 game ban.
  17. Kostas can be forgiven for being really poor with his crosses. He has been out injured and lacked match sharpness. I do think we need to talk more about Van Dijk and his tendency not to fully commit to closing down an opponent running through on goal. There is a theory he prefers not to commit in such situations because our defenders trust the goalie to have the angles covered. However, van Dijk is the one who noticeably does it. Gomez in that situation would be getting really close to Zaha to put him off as he shoots. Van Dijk speeds up and then slows down, allowing Zaha enough time to slot it. He has been doing this often. Also did similar in the CL final vs Madrid when instead of going to close Valverde down, he runs in a straight line and allows the cross. Then stuck a lazy leg backwards to try and block the ball. It goes through, Madrid score. We need him to be more proactive in closing down in those situations.
  18. I am one of those who voted no to signing Nunez. Thought he was too raw and we could have tried to find a better fit with a player like Nkunku. Alternatively, I felt we could just have kept Origi if a tall, strong finisher upfront was what we needed for certain games. However, I have seen bits and pieces which suggest Nunez can work long term for us if he develops rightly. Part of that development would need him to be calmer in certain situations. Klopp"s track record suggests we'll get the best out of him if Nunez himself shows the right attitude to learning.
  19. Of all our forwards, Mane was always the most likely to get sent off for petulance. He didn't deal very well with being provoked too much. Klopp on more than a few occasions had to sub him off just to prevent him getting a red. If Nunez needs anyone to emulate regarding not being provoked into a rage, it'll be Salah. Gets pulled, kicked, put into headlocks and just gets on with his game.
  20. Yep, I usually like reading books from players' perspectives. I just don't see why an assistant manager is releasing an "inside LFC" book while he is still at the club, when the manager himself has never done any book of any kind. I reckon Klopp would have had to give permission for certain bits to be in there anyway, so maybe Ljinders isnt giving away as much in the book as imagined. I'd just rather he curbed his enthusiasm a bit. He can't hope to be a successful manager at a club of our size if he doesn't rein in the David Brent aspects of his character.
  21. This. Absolutely this. He talks too much, gives too much away to the media in press conferences. And I'm still annoyed he has already released a tell it all book. How many assistant managers have ever done that while still at their current club? I absolutely believe he would agree to an Amazon All or Nothing documentary if he ever became manager. I just don't see the appeal people have for him. He is a good coach but it would quickly become a cringe fest if he ever became Liverpool manager.
  22. Judging from the theory presented before Salah signed, I wonder if Jota asked for 300k a week seeing as Salah is now on 350k.
  23. Not criticising you for being excited about Ljinders book, Dave. However, I'm not a big fan of Ljinder's tell it all style. Yes it's good for us to have an occasional peek behind the curtains but I'm not sure it's advisable to provide an all access book to our tactics and decisions at this time. Maybe a few more years down the line when Klopp is getting ready to retire. I like the Kenny Dalglish management model of knowing when to give away as little as possible to the media or wider world. Klopp also has the balance just right. But Ljinders loves to talk as much as possible about what we do. I know he means no harm and is just an enthusiastic person though.
  24. I don't think he even has a 20 goal season in him for us. He would always be a threat and he'll facilitate many goals but he hasnt showed us the natural cutting edge to consistently stick the ball in the net. His finishing often lacks finesse and it can be a bit predictable. I reckon he'll still be a fine player for us though because our other attacking players would have a greater output when Diaz plays.
