  1. Spot on. With Man Utd faltering, City, Chelsea and Everton having new managers and Spurs having been pegged back after the Villas Boas business, this is the season for us to take back that champions league spot, to attract better players in the summer and to earn more money - all things which will make us a stronger club with a better chance of winning more trophies and not just the odd FA cup every few years.
  2. F**k the defence, who needs it. I think it's been apparent for some time that deep down Rodger's doesn't really give a sh*t about the defence. He pays lip service sometimes. And at the start he was all about passing the ball around and controlling games. But that's all out the window, we're just going to out-score everyone. You score 1 we'll score 2. You score 2 we'll score 3. It's madness. And I love it.
  3. I've got Supercup Football. I must dig it out and have a game. Always preferred it over Subbuteo.
  4. I don't care, I'm laughing while the going's good. It might change in a few months, so why miss the opportunity? They're the Costa Conchordia. The passengers are abandoning ship and the man in charge has lost it. And who cares about Torres? He was the perennial substitute in those euro cup wins - everyone knows it. He knows it. Bit part player. Those medals are worthless.
  5. He's the gift that keeps on giving. Long may he reign.
  6. Liverpool Football Club - overachieving at fourth place in the league. Pretty grim.
  7. I think Mignolet's okay, and hopefully will improve. The last two years Reina looked like someone who'd had his arms amputated with the number of shots he seemed to be letting in (saying that he wasn't getting much cover from our soft centre.)
  8. I hate cup matches at Anfield. I get embarrassed by a lot of the non-regular fans who treat the game like a pantomime. Some of our fans make me cringe. I much prefer away games.
  9. Even before I had a season ticket, and ever since I gave it up, I've always found it pretty easy to get tickets for most matches. I honestly don't think there's as much demand as people think there is. You can only squeeze people's bank accounts so much before they make the decision to spend their money on something else (like I did). Funny - I honestly always thought preference was given to overseas buyers for tickets as they'd spend more money at the match than local fans. The club doesn't need local fans, they don't spend enough at the ground.
  10. The two most expensive football teams that have ever been assembled, and that's the standard of football served up. Sh*te. Boring sh*te.
  11. Isn't that what our captain Steven Gerrard is supposed to do?
  12. You knew from two minutes into it what kind of afternoon it was going to be. With our run of injuries (like all teams have) I think the squad is already starting to limp towards the finishing line. Put in Agger, Sahko, Enrique and Allen and it'd be a much stronger team. But that's football. Shame we couldn't have brought on one of our recent signings for some inspiration. Oh, hang on....
  13. I'm not sure which is the least likely to happen of them. Ian Ayre's been looking down the backs of the sofas in the executive lounges for our transfer fund. That and some magic beans he was given by a mysterious stranger one night.
  14. Rodgers should have given Chelsea a right volley of abuse after the Eto/Mourinho/Suarez incident. Would have been nice if he'd have told Mourinho to keep his mouth shut.
  15. I can see this thread becoming the most popular in the history of the internet. Also, we won't get into the Champions League for another ten years. By which point it'll have been replcaed by a European super league. Which we won't be in, either.
  16. Exactly. I'm happy for them to get a couple of wins here and there to keep them around 7th/8th for the next few seasons - a few games of dross followed by some minor wins which offer a tantalising glimpse of hope. Hope that will never materialise into anything. No european football. Rooney and Van Persie will have already seen the writing on the wall, they'll be gone in the summer. I hope they get through the next champions league stage just so they end up against someone really good - I can see a couple of 4-0 and 5-0 drubbings for the Moyesiah. It's the beginning of a long slow decline.
  17. I thought Aspas was non-existent. That's not getting on his back, just what I saw. Same for Sissokho. I'd much rather we had Borini and Wisdom playing (though I understand why they're on loan). I'm not sure Aspas would get in the team for anyone in the top half of the league. I don't want to see any first teamers in the Oldham game - we've got too many injuries and some players need a rest. This season is all about getting back in the champions league, we can worry about the FA cup another time. Kids and reserves against Oldham please.
  18. Didn't Borini cost £11m? That's not a small amount of money. I'm not saying he wasn't worth a gamble, mind. He's probably on about £30/40k a week as well (I've no idea, just guessing).
  19. He was, twice! Can you imagine if Suarez had made either of those two "challenges" on Terry or Eto? He'd be in stocks outside buckingham palace now.
  20. The terry grapple on suarez, the cahill slide on suarez, the eto boot on henderson, the eto knee on suarez. A farce of a game. They were told to go out and rough us up, and they got away with it. Terrible refereeing. I'm worried about our injuries - gerrard, sturridge, enrique, flanagan, allen, sahko. Henderson isn't 100% fit, kelly seems perpetually unfit. That's eight players. Our squad is threadbare. Top four was there if we wanted it this season - I'm not sure the summer signings have helped.
  21. Hoddle's still got a terrible mullet.
  22. Litmanen. I know we bought him - and then hardly played him. Never understood it, he oozed class.
  23. I'm hoping the injuries force a decent and solid formation on Rodgers. It could also generate a bit of a backs to the wall mentality from the players who get the chance - we haven't seen that Liverpool in a while. With the right results we could enter January flying.
  24. I always thought he was more skillful than sterling and should have had more chances than him. He always seemed to have a classy way of playing - hopefully he'll make improvements and come back a more rounded and better player. We're short on quality in depth.
  25. I was thinking more Barry who seems to be holding them together in the middle. I suppose he might end up at everton though, depending on wages etc. Not Barkley to Man U - I doubt he'll want to move to a championship team next season.
