  1. @Brownie on the subject of big clubs never passing up opportunities like this. That isn't true anymore and plays into what @Paulwas saying about the cheats. All the big clubs ran a mile from Halaand.
  2. We could have told Bellingham we have £150m for this deal, that's the number he's known about all along and we will save it for next year if needs be, Dortmund want £130m, the agent wants £20m, either play for free or go and get them to make the numbers work. That's not us reneging on a promise to him or even lying to Dortmund, we're officially out of any deal unless the player can get the other 2 to come to arrangement or we revisit next season.
  3. Great pod again lads, I'm now more convinced Bellingham will sign. If I'm FSG I'm fully aware of the small but vocal FSG out crowd and even more aware of the situation up the road. They witnessed first hand the power of the fans when it came to getting rid of Hicks and Gillett. I can't see Henry or Werner putting up with the shit the Glaziers do, first sign of mass protest and they're gone. With that in mind they will be all over the analytics, they will know how vocal and engaged the FSG out crowd are, if this looks like the straw that breaks the camels back then they will put up the funds. Certainly a pound shop version will not be accepted, Gravenberch and Nunes walking through the door as the alternative won't go down well. As much as we all laugh at the mancs if Bellingham signed for City and they were 16 points ahead of us in 8th place come October the banners would be out. You can't win everything, raise ticket prices and then plead the poor mouth. Jones and Trent could well be the key, if they look good enough to continue long term in midfield then a cheap right back and Bellingham has to be achievable and Bellingham on his own in that scenario would be palatable to most. There are about 45 English right backs of decent quality, someone like Matty Cash would tick the boxes. My fonal point is what is the expectation next season? Is it the 2nd transition season or is the aim 97 points again? If its the former then retaining both Fab and Thiago makes makes no sense, bank the cash and get Bellingham.
  4. On the handball, I think the reason is the ref had shafted us to that point, he gave us zero frees in the first half, including a free to Leeds when Rodrygo elbowed Fab in the face. I was waiting for a potential red card flash to appear on the screen but no, same thing with another free they got for a foul by Curtis, I thought that was going our way to. In real time it was blasted at him from 3 yards, I think it's justifiable to allow that one stand.
  5. Probably because a picture of a sad kid being ignored by Mo Salah will go viral like that Arsenal video.
  6. Leeds goal is 100% on Konate. Jones gave him the type of pass he's received 1000 times this season, he fucked it up, simple as that.
  7. Dortmunds keeper is shit. Throw in Kelleher and we have a deal, they can sell him back to a PL team for 4 times his current value.
  8. Newcastle aren't used to pressure, they had a huge opportunity to kill us off at St James Park and bottled it big style. Similarly in their next match against Utd in the final, huge game and they didn't show up. We probably haven't been paying much attention but in recent years we have had 3 or 4 teams every year all doing everything they can to fuck up 4th for themselves. Teams not used to huge games end up doing crazy things around this time of year. A big win against Forest is crucial, wipe out their goal difference in 3 days and the table will look a little scarier for them before they kick off against Spurs.
  9. I was wondering about the celebration for his 2nd goal, it was more full on than you would expect at 4-1. Turns out he has broken the record for goals scored with his left foot in the PL. Bet the mad cunt knew about it too.
  10. Southampton aren't as dead as I thought, they could get 9 points from Fulham, Bournemouth and Forest, they're fixtures definitely look more favorable than the 3 sides above them. Finishing with Brighton and Liverpool is absolutely ideal, 2 sides that will probably have nothing to play for.
  11. Relegation escapes over the years always take the same pattern, results are shit for a long-time and then the reality of the situation kicks in, fans stop getting on players backs and get behind them. They then somehow scrape a couple of home wins and win an away game no one expected. Everton have already had that happen, Leicester have kind of sleep walked into their situation, a couple of big wins are long over due for them. Forest look fucked looking at their fixtures. Leeds beat us tomorrow and they're as good as safe, they won't though.
  12. I wonder how much Brighton would cost, 600m do it? Just buy them, take Caicedo and McCallister, throw in Mitomo and Ferguson and the sell the club for 500m.
  13. Super Frank first manager ever to lose 2 home games in one season to Brighton*. 14 defeats in his last 17 league games. * my own stat, probably true.
  14. Fulham at home was 3 points virtually everyone had them pencilled in for. Newcastle, City and Bournemouth the only 3 home games they have left. Even 7 points from them won't be enough unless they reverse 3 years of away results.
  15. Nah he would just be a cunt. Milner might be able to slap some sense in to him, kick the Chelsea out of him but I doubt it.
  16. Keane is the King of the grudge. He's always been complimentary to Klopp and this team until the day Klopp at go at him for describing our performance against Arsenal as sloppy. He called us bad champions the first time an opportunity arose and has generally been getting stuck into us since. It's not for the cameras, he's just a bitter man.
  17. Rice as the right sided 8 could do an excellent job. He's an engine like Gini, could get up an counter press on Mo's side and still be back covering for Trent. He is a cunt though, proper Chelsea whopper him, he'd be kissing the badge and deleting West Ham from his Instagram before the ink was dry.
  18. That can be true but doesn't explain the public withdrawal. We could easily have let the player know privately that it's a non runner, the numbers don't work. The fans will know its not happening when Nunes and Caicedo are unveiled. If both Madrid and ourselves are genuinely out then the only club to benefit is City, another thing that makes no sense.
  19. If we actually want Rice or Caicedo for example, it makes more sense for there to be a perception we are still after Bellingham. Publicly pulling out of a race we where never officially in reeks of a negotiation tactic. Dortmund will be wise to it but if the player really wanted to come here then it's a tactic to put pressure on him to put pressure on them. I may be last man standing here but I refuse to believe we are this incompetent.
  20. The ref can simply pretend to not see the guy if he knows he's taking the piss.
  21. Enjoyed that again. You's didn't touch on why the players can only play with the fans involvement. Paul has mentioned tonnes of the times the tactical requirements to be a Klopp player, particularly a midfielder. Those 2 things would be interesting to discuss, why do we need the fans more than other teams and are Jurgens tactics so special we can't move away from or only sign very specific players. Tactically we're not as fluid as the great teams of the past, Mo is an issue on this as he's essentially a right sided wide forward who limits the amount of formations we can play. Another aspect you didn't touch on is the impact on Robbo if Trent becomes another 6. City and Arsenal both become back threes when their fullback head into midfield, in our case we would be losing our 2 biggest goal creators over the last 5 years in exchange for what? Just buy a midfielder that brings the stability we need and leave the fullbacks run rampage up the pitch. Finally the biggest fundamental difference I have in opinion is what we learned from that. The concensus was nothing, I completely disagree. I think we learned we can still play when the attitude is right, we were aggressive in everything we done from 40 minutes on. This wasn't like the Utd game, this was against a proper side and we smothered them and ran riot, we tackled hard and often, how many times have we done that this season? City at home is all I can think of. My young lad played in an u9 tournament on Saturday, he plays in the first team at that age but was giving a dig out to these lad who play 3 or 4 divisions below. Chatting to the coach after the 2nd game he asked me my opinion on the difference between the 2 sides, ability wise not a great deal in it but the main difference was they are Liverpool 2023 compared to 2019. This side was all about checking to see if the lad on the ground was OK, would they like a cup of tea while they're down there, would they like Alison to say a little prayer for them (remember Jesus was basically dead on the ground for a few minutes in the reverse fixture)? Nunez has been castrated since his red, it's only Robbo and Milner that ever leave the foot in, the 2019 version while not dirty had Sadio, Gini and a younger Milner who you knew where coming back for more, that's all this needs, aggression and plenty of it will sort all our problems.
  22. Hovland should join LIV, he's great for 54 holes.
  23. Last hour today was more like it, like the rest of the them the penny seemed to drop that he's allowed use his physicality, much more aggressive in everything he done and suddenly he looked decent again.
  24. Seriously pissed with Klopp. That selection at Chelsea was all about numbers, nothing to do with the shite served up at Bournemouth and City. Trent Virgil and Mo don't deserve to start this game, it's not a real squad when players are guaranteed a place. The dynamic can't work and you end up with this.
