  1. I think mostly it's because they rarely take things seriously until they have to. There's enough serious shit goes on without dragging it into the downtime you get. There's no need for bonding sessions with those kind of lads, they all know what they have to do, and they all know to watch each others backs. We mostly do other places, but I know a few lads that work in Asia. It's a pretty small world in that line of work.
  2. Partner in a private security business. Used to be sole owner, but it was too much. Not exactly Blackwater (thank fuck) but along those lines.
  3. Working with a lot of ex forces types means this kind of bellendary doesn't even come close to getting off the ground. Usually the only thing that happens is a massive pissup when we get back from whatever hellhole we've been to. Pisses me off that I have to pay though, what with being the boss and all. I dislike the corporate types with all the management lingo they throw around in an effort to sound like they know what they're talking about, best thing to do is earwig on them and then shout out "BULLSHIT BINGO" occasionally. It usually has the desired effect.
  4. We all want to win the league, but building a team takes a bit of time, especially on a budget like ours. Rafa was a big fan of the Rinus Michels way of doing things, but it seems BR has a different approach, and I like the way he has gone about things so far. We've had a few fuckups and teething problems, but it's not the end of the world. (a lot of IF's in this part) If we can get our business done early, IF we can get a solid pre season, and IF we can make a good start to next season while waiting for Luis to come back, there's no reason why we can't push for a top 4 place next season. In turn, this would allow us to strengthen again, and then push on a bit more. It might take a bit of time, but I have confidence in BR.
  5. Did the same to lampard as well (who I think is a bit over rated) and is one of the few players I've seen who has marked scholes out of a game. Yes he's had a tough season, but fucking hell, those injuries would have finished a players career a few years back. Every team needs a player who does that job, and hopefully Lucas will be back to his best next season. Having said that, a bit of competition for his place would do us no harm at all.
  6. First things first, it's not just BR who buys our players. He might have the final say, but the committee he wanted and apparently works best with, will have a pretty big list. Hopefully we can get most of our business done early The defense is a concern, but the reality is that we only need 2 CB's at most IF Coates is sold. The reality is that if we can continue our form from the 2nd half of the season, and pick up more points from the "top" teams, then we are in a very good position for getting into the top 4, at least. If we hit our stride early, and build confidence, then there's no reason with the right players brought in why we shouldn't be in the mix.
  7. Because BR might want the strikers to actually move around the pitch and be comfortable in more than one area, y'know to stretch the opposition? It's something you really should have noticed, or were you too busy counting allens backwards passes so you could post more spurious bullshit stats?
  8. I expect more from a player with 34 international caps. Downing has always been mediocre and has flattered to deceive at every club he's played for. He should be at his peak now, which says pretty much everything.
  9. Never underestimate the toughness of Brazilian players. Most of them grew up playing street football, and the Brazilian league isn't a place for shrinking violets. A classic example is Lucas a few years ago - when fellaini smashed him with an elbow and split his cheek, Lucas bounced straight back up with every intention of going for him. Notice as well when there's any ructions on the pitch, Lucas is often the first one there, and not to break it up either. These lads are proper tough little fuckers. Mess with them by all means, but expect to get some back as well, as Coutinho showed with first ben arfa, and then debuchy, both of whom seemed to think he would be a pushover.
  10. 1) They used the club lawyers who had been with us for years, and sacked the useless fuckers shortly after. 2) Tell that to the people living around the stadium who are holding out for more money. 3) They hired Brian Barwick. 4) anyone who has joe fucking cole as an avatar is clearly a cunt who knows fuck all about football.
  11. I'm having a great laugh here at all those getting their knickers in a twist over what is basically, fuck all. These people attend the same events, the same conferences, the same seminars, but our "supporters" don't want them to talk to each other. What a fucking joke it is that people are more concerned with "looking bad" in front of their mates than they are with the club progressing. The very same people who moan that the owners know nothing about football, but when the owners try to gain more knowledge by speaking to some of the most experienced people in the game, they are somehow "betraying" the club. The reality is that despite what some fucking idiots think, ALL of the top owners, managers, MD's, CEO's speak to each other on a regular basis, and so fucking what if they do? At the highest levels people talk, exchange ideas and yes even pick each others brains. You can bet that despite all the pissing and moaning we have seen this week, ferguson and fat sam, AND wenger and gollum had a drink and a chat after their respective matches. And despite all the media shite, I expect BR and Rafa will have a drink after the match this weekend. It happens all the time, and none of those involved would have climbed to the top of their profession if they ignored other owners, managers, MD's, CEO's etc So get a fucking grip and stop fucking whining about how "embarrassed" you are just because our owners have a chat with people from other clubs. The club is more important that some fucking dog ends ego, and what is TRULY embarrassing is the cunts moaning about their mates taking the piss as if that is more important than improving the club on and off the field.
  12. I've seen a lot of posts on this site saying we need "major investment" I have 2 words to say to that. Dortmund. Klopp.
  13. I agree completely. Just another storm in a teacup for those who live their lives looking for a reason to get their knickers in a twist.
  14. Exactly. Seems that some people just wait for something to come up in the media so they can slate him. Personally, I don't really give a fuck. I've kind of got used to his press style, and his honesty is refreshing.
  15. I think you're wrong there. He did good work in the commercial department and IMO that's where his talent lies. As MD he is out of his depth though, I am always wary of people who don't stick in a job for more than a couple of years. It smacks of "getting found out" to me.
  16. At his very best he's an OK player, which says it all really. I don't rate him, and never did. He's a one trick pony without a trick.
  17. It's true. Not sure about the sending polaroids to dead relatives, but there were plenty of pictures taken, as well as some taking "trophies". "he's not gonna miss them, is he?" was a standard "joke".
  18. Been there, and it's not a pretty place. Cold and windy as fuck, but the locals are nice enough. The islanders voted through a process of self determination that they wanted to stay with the UK, that's good enough for me, and it should be good enough for any other fucker who believes in any kind of democracy. At least I'm not a reservist anymore though, so that cunt cameron can't call me up in the event of war.
  19. I'm not sure what it is about the words "long term plan" that people don't understand. So, I'll make it simple. It means that we build and improve year by year, season by season in a sustainable manner, both on and off the field. Of course FSG have made mistakes - show me someone who hasn't. But at the same time our commercial revenue is growing, and growing. When we match that with increased capacity, which in turn means more commercial deals, we will have a club that not only runs a sustainable business model but also one that can really compete for the top players. Think of it as building a house - do you start building walls and a roof before you've laid the foundations? Of course not, that would be silly and everyone knows it. Turning our club around is no different, unless you want a many city/chelsea prefab.
