  1. Reading something similar with the three former hostages: two killed by a sniper, he also shot the third, who fled and was finished off by a squad of soldiers. What are the terms of engagement: "kill anything that moves"? More families mourning.
  2. Hodgson'll be all smiles this week, talking about what a great sport the footy is, how you can never take anything for granted, players giving 110%, etc. with a big grin on his beak.
  3. My announcer repeated "alert and responsive" from the Bournemouth staff doctor. Really impressed with Luton's manager--out on the pitch, getting the players away asap. Billing as well, who went to Lockyer immediately and signalled for the medicos to get out there.
  4. More than a bit macabre. The fans sat their watching someone fight for their life, or at least others fight for his life. Taking him off on a stretcher, not doing CPR that I can see. I hope that's a good sign, as they wouldn't stop until he was at the hospital?
  5. My commentary pair (McCoist?) cheering for Newcastle. I think one them broke into tears when Schar went down. Cunts. Switched to Luton/Bournemouth. 0-1 Luton. Luton look good, on the front foot, creating all the chances.
  6. For the first time in my life, I'm thinking debtor's prison might not be a bad idea.
  7. Congress passing legislation attempting to prevent the President from unilaterally withdrawing the US from NATO. Aimed not at Biden, but at Trump, of course. Passed on a bipartisan basis, not just Democrats but Republicans as well, who know what a danger Trump is, and are still unwilling to say it out loud.
  8. Ry Cooder "Across the Borderline" The Rio Grande
  9. Dortmund have lined up the bus, but still PSG create chances which they then don't take. 1-1 85 minutes.
  10. PSG spursing it up, as usual. Give it away in their own end, and now down a goal.
  11. Leao is useless. Just jogs around looking disinterested. Every match I've watched them play.
  12. So he's not the saviour after all. They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. John 19:23-24
  13. Joint statement today from Australia, Canada and New Zealand: Australia, Canada, and New Zealand mourn every Israeli and Palestinian innocent life which has been lost in this conflict and express our condolences to all families and communities affected by the violence. We unequivocally condemn Hamas’ terror attacks on Israel on October 7, the appalling loss of life, and the heinous acts of violence perpetrated in those attacks, including sexual violence. We condemn Hamas’ unacceptable treatment of hostages and call for the immediate and unconditional release of all remaining hostages. We recognise Israel’s right to exist and right to defend itself. In defending itself, Israel must respect international humanitarian law. Civilians and civilian infrastructure must be protected. We are alarmed at the diminishing safe space for civilians in Gaza. The price of defeating Hamas cannot be the continuous suffering of all Palestinian civilians. We remain deeply concerned by the scale of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and ongoing risks to all Palestinian civilians. Safe and unimpeded humanitarian access must be increased and sustained. The recent pause in hostilities allowed for the release of more than 100 hostages and supported an increase in humanitarian access to affected civilians. We acknowledge the persistent diplomatic efforts of the United States, Qatar, and Egypt to broker this pause, and we regret it could not be extended. We want to see this pause resumed and support urgent international efforts towards a sustainable ceasefire. This cannot be one-sided. Hamas must release all hostages, stop using Palestinian civilians as human shields, and lay down its arms. There is no role for Hamas in the future governance of Gaza. We support Palestinians’ right to self-determination. We oppose the forcible displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, the re-occupation of Gaza, any reduction in territory, and any use of siege or blockade. We emphasize that Gaza must no longer be used as a platform for terrorism. We reaffirm that settlements are illegal under international law. Settlements and settler violence are serious obstacles to a negotiated two-state solution. We recommit ourselves to working with partners toward a just and enduring peace in the form of a two-state solution, where Israelis and Palestinians can live securely within internationally recognised borders. We remain concerned about the impact of the conflict spilling across the region and urge all governments in the region to work towards containing the conflict. We call on the Houthis to cease immediately their attacks on international shipping and crew operating in the Red Sea. We condemn rising antisemitism, Islamophobia, and anti-Arab sentiment in our countries and around the world and remain firmly committed to combatting prejudice, hatred, and violent extremism. Every "i" dotted and every "t" crossed. Six weeks too late, but better late than never, I guess.
  14. PSV-Arse, single female play-by-play. She's talking about 30% of the time, mostly play-by-play with a little commentary thrown in. Don't know who she is, but it's perfect.
  15. Is it a .22 or an elephant gun? Because if it's the former, the hunter, and you, are going to die. If the latter, I'd go with the hunter and the 7 buffalo (Cape or Plains).
  16. What are they going to do with the duds? I'm assuming any time they sell a player with an agreement to pay part of his salary that still counts against their allowable spending? Because I can see a fair bit of that in their near future.
