  1. I was referring to his ability as an individual to maintain and control the desired style of play of the team (the manager decides this), most prominently in evidence with his last club. My opinion is no one player can fully control the tempo by themselves, the team needs several, ideally all, of the players in the team to be utilising the same style to properly effect the tempo of the game and combined they control it. Some players are not able to play this style, the ball goes to them and they lose it, don't use it effeciently or the fluidity of the move slows down when it goes to them. I was making the point that, as a team we will be looking to control the tempo of the game and Adam as a player, is capable of fulfilling his role in this.
  2. Very pleased with this signing. Wide range of passing and quality from set pieces. He's a player who can control the tempo of play, and given he is coming into a team looking to control the ball and therefore the game, this is an important attribute. A leader (winning teams have a variety of them) who will be determined to prove he belongs at a top club. Seemed very keen to come here, which is essential. Think he will make a quality addition to the squad and gives us more strength in depth. Plus, we win things when there is one of us Scots in the side!
  3. A quality player who offers alot, especially going forward. Has improved significantly and is working hard to develop the defensive side of his game, to his credit. Playing on the left side will have put him out of his comfort zone and made him think more about his positioning, thus his awareness and defending overall has improved. He will get even better.
  4. Sometimes our captain's aim can be questioned, his integrity and desire to do his best for this club should not be.
  5. Samuel L Jackson and Francis Begbie Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chewbacca
  6. As a fan, one of the things you never want is to cringe when your club's manager is interacting with the press. Never any danger of that with Kenny, his media handling is reassuringly first class.
  7. Just to confirm, got a response from FourFourTwo. Apparently, the red jacket worn by Andy Carroll on the cover was specially made for him and is therefore not for sale.
  8. Apologies if the details had already been put up. In fairness, I did have a look for it before posting the thread, but did not see anything, hence I went ahead. Thanks to everyone who posted. WaltonRed - The article says that Andy Carroll is sponsored by Umbro and to visit Umbro.com. I couldn 't see the jacket from the cover on their site, though some similar. Didn't see any other buying information in the magazine itself, so I have sent FourFourTwo an email asking where specifcally the rather fetching item can be purchased from. I will post any response I get.
  9. They call it; doing the poznan, on account of them seeing the Lech Poznan fans doing it in their Europa League match. Whilst the Poles do it regularly during matches, as a form of celebration, several teams in Europe have done it through the years. Apparently, the first time it was done (of note in any case) was by PAOK fans in the 80's when they were beating Olympiakos and wanted to demonstrate their disgust towards them. So, perhaps somewhat predictably, it initially started as a derisory gesture towards the opposition. I'm sure we will soon see the back of it...
  10. Thanks for posting this. It is brilliant to see the positive progress being made. Continuity throughout the club makes it so much more likely that talent will make it into the first team. The improvements being made are due to a long term winning formula, so things will get even better...
  11. As a general rule, I tend to agree unwaveringly with melons of any description... Anything that can reduce pointless bickering on this site should be utilised where possible. For the record, most brains do also come with an in-built ignore function as well.
  12. A romp, and a comfortable one at that. Some superb team play decorated by some delightful individual performances. It's 5, but it could be more.
