  1. Has the transfer window being extended for them??:lol: Everton were important to us from 1985-1987. Now they're an irrelevance. Someday, I hope they will be relegated, and play teams at their level.
  2. The title in 1990 was much closer than the 9 points in the end. A loss at Spurs, and a cup semi-final loss were big blows and could have torpedoed the league campaign. But we got a late point at Arsenal and good wins afterwards. Even then, with 10 minutes to go at home to QPR, the Villa result wasn't going our way. But they imploded in the remaining minutes and we won it with a week to spare.
  3. You have to laugh at that one. In the old days, players ate burgers and chips, now they eat pasta and rice. In the old days, we studied teams with videos, now it's all done on a compact disc. Modern football is all so unfair. :(
  4. Everton struggling is Everton's problem. Nothing to do with us.
  5. Notice the phrase "league position" is missing.
  6. The Torjubel and "Call/Response" PA technique for players, really get the crowd going, and there is no better place for fans than the Bundesliga. The fan is put before everything else, whereas in the EPL, he is an afterthought amongst boards and administrators.
  7. Agreed. He was no Sami Hyypia, but at least he did a good job. Unlike others still here.
  8. He scxored 7 goals here. Easily would have scored 15+ that season, if he was given the chance. But we know what happened instead. To rub it in, he was denied a championship medal too at the end of the season.
  9. It happens in every ground in the Bundesliga. Every club has it's own "Torjubel", a 30-second music piece after every goal scored at home. Some other countries do it too to a lesser extent. It's excellent, and the stadiums are wall-to-wall noise and atmosphere every game. Contrast that with the EPL, where stadiums are mostly like libraries, for all bar the big games.
  10. I agree with you, but in most "modern fans" eyes, 4th is great and 5th is nowhere these days. The squad still isn't good enough for the title. It can't beat Sunderland at home, and still has the likes of Poulsen and Ngog. But at least we were top this weekend. Albeit for 2 hours, but still 2 hours more than last season.
  11. For us to play France, he'll score our goal, and they'll need to find another handball-loving cunt to stop him going to the finals. Any takers? Banging them in already across the pond. Only 21 minutes needed this time. Almost as long as some of his LFC appearances.
  12. 1st win there for 11 years, and a famous one. Took a while but we wore them down in the end, and Arsenal got a taste of their own medicine in the move for the second goal. Exeter, Bolton, and Stoke coming next. Lets see if we can beat all three with full (or as close to) strength sides, before we go back to London and play their neighbours. Watching Kenny's goal celebrations is like watching them from 1977. As ecstatic as ever. Makes a pleasant change against what we had to look at for 6 years.
  13. I'd be more likely to rant, about how the fuck he got in there in the first place. Send him off to the corner to hang out with the rest of his prawn sambo scum. If he doesn't like it, he's free to fuck off out of our ground anytime. Sorry, about Ngog. If he plays against us next week, that's our defending sorted out for us.
  14. Usually hate these kos, but happy to get this trip over with asap. AGENDA: League Game 2/38: v Arsenal (a) KO: 11:45 GMT/12:45 Local 20 August Host Broadcaster: BSKYB Web: Streams Haven't won there in 11 years, but they're probably at their weakest now in all that time. Still, a hard task awaits, and I'll be happy enough with a point.
  15. Rafa ruined many people's time here. Keane was just the latest at the time. His move helped so much, that we had one injured specialised forward left for the run-in, and fell short by 4 points. At least Keane will have a job to go to on Monday Morning though.
  16. The full force kung-fu kick was 20 times worse than a clip on the ear. He'll get a fine at worst, and that'll be the end of it. Sky were going mental over the ko time all night, failing to realise that Spanish football is used to late night kos. Better that, than having to go to a game at 6am for a Saturday/Sunday ko in this part of the world.
  17. The tackle was made and the punishment given. That should have been the end of it, but Barcelona had to re-run the HT brawl last Spring. Players/subs/coach/staff/stewards, the lot. Some of them honestly should have joined Marcelo, but of course no ref would dare send one off in that place, against Real Madrid. He'd never make it home. They won a friendly with barely 3 attempts on goal, honestly who cares? The whole raison d'etre of those cunts is anti-Real Madrid, so that'll keep them sweet until the next meeting there in the spring.
  18. Shouldn't make any difference, Ireland play 2, at most 3 games, during the American close season. He might miss the February friendly, but that's about it. Trap wants him, because he's scored 51 goals for his country, more than any other player in UK and Ireland. He sees the value he brings to the team. Shame others haven't, but they don't have the amount of success and trophies Trap has either.
  19. Barcelona still can't beat Mourinho when facing 11 players. They have failed to win 4 of the last 5 Classicos. If they hadn't got Pepe sent off, it would have been 5.
  20. And now you see why I wasn't full of confidence going into the season. I don't buy the "tiredness" excuse. If the players are tired now, how tired will they be when they're playing hackers in dirty mudbaths in the winter? We got everything we wanted yesterday. Home game, mediocre opposition, good start, early goal, early penalty, second half into the Kop, and still couldn't win the game. Carroll is looking more and more like a square peg in this team, and a very expensive one at that. Next week is the last chance for the team to gel together, before they're all "rested" for the League Cup. New year, same policies, same results. Frustrating.
  21. Funny how everyone remembers that, and not the goal he got to get us a point out there. :whatever:
  22. ...after scoring 3 goals in his last 2 games. His time here was the most shameful treatment of a Liverpool player by any coach in living memory. A political football from the time he arrived until the time he left. He's one of the top goalscorers at international level, and still has a lot to offer at club level, even if it has to be in another league.
