  1. I think we know how FSG are going to fill the next few weeks to get us over the line until the window closes. They tried their best...
  2. Exactly, this is turning out to be a fantastic window for FSG. A typical net spend summer transfer window, vast amounts cut from the wage bill. They've managed to stall bringing in anyone extra to within three weeks of the window closing and the eve of the Premierships return. What's not to like? Over to Klopp now to keep us vaguely competitive.
  3. It does appear to be heading that way. Another typical FSG summer spend so far, £95 million out, £60 million in. A nice net £35 million. Lots of huffing and puffing on deals we can't quite get over the line in time. Oh well, there's always next summer for that £250 million rebuild as long as we're in the CL. I don't understand the finances but it always seems a bit odd that with one of the highest turnovers in world football we're incapable of spending at the level of many mid-table Premiership teams? What happened to the $735 million from selling a slice of FSG to Redbird? They were happy to float the idea of extra investment for LFC being available at the time. Mind you they have to fund that $1.6 billion Red Sox project they announced recently. Patience is now running thin, I suspect that'll run out completely if it turns out they're diverting any of our turnover to fund their 'other' projects. I don't even think they bother with the PR front they used to keep up, we're barely mentioned these days.
  4. He can't cope with any criticism. He'll usually resort to claims of being bullied although he's quite happy to get his elbows out when it suits him. Was it really smart of Broad to announce his retirement on the eve of the final day of an ashes test match? It's become his testimonial.
  5. Pep will follow the money and be off to Saudi sooner rather later.
  6. I'm going to guess that there aren't enough dimensions in the multiverse for that to play out. There's probably one where they're perennially mid-table.
  7. Very true but in fairness we've barely scratched the surface of space exploration. A few probes to our nearest neighbours. Given the scale of the universe it's unlikely that there won't be life on other planets even if it ends up just being single cell organisms. They'd definitely be cautious releasing this news given the impact of finding even evidence of very basic life would change our perception of ourselves. Far too many people out there believing we are the centre of the universe and were hand-crafted by a superior being. I do find it difficult to believe that an alien race with infinitely superior technology allowing them to undertake intergalactic travel in machines capable of defying our understanding of the laws of physics would then be so incompetent as to crash one of their vehicles on earth and be unable to recover the crash site before humankind discovered it. Beyond that if we believe the claims they've apparently been totalling their own spacecraft on earth on a regular basis. We're all pretty lucky to have not been personally involved in a fender bender with one of them at some point.
  8. I agree, the world has moved on, their solution is to pander to their detached and elderly core backed up by a right wing media. Demographics are ultimately against them, they've even been stupid enough to diminish their home owning core of future prospective voters. They'll undoubtedly shift to even more extreme policies. The concern is that they don't drag opposition parties with them in the process.
  9. I wonder what the price would be if they tried to come and get him this summer? Not that I'd want to see that particularly this close to the season, £150 million?
  10. The amusing thing is that at some point in the distant future we'll probably discover that there is actually a document titled 'our cartel plans'.
  11. We're screwed, through a combination of vested interest, greed and enough obfuscation to allow denial to be a believable position. It'll be far too late by the time we actually make the changes required if at all. I recall when I was studying for a masters degree one of the modules for modelling focussed on the various global climate models. Far too complex for my tiny brain, I mean fluid dynamics, not a chance. However what was obvious was the conservative nature of the variables plugged into various models. For any assumptions in the model they'd use the minimal value available given that a model that overestimates would be considered worthless or possibly dangerous. In order to enact serious change we'd need make substantial and dramatic changes to individuals lives which is just not going to happen on a global scale. The focus will likely shift to attempting to mitigate the consequences over the coming decades.
  12. It's almost as if it's a cartel and there isn't a genuine market? I always thought that capitalism and by extension unrestricted market forces eventually leads to a single market provider in the end and therefore a monopoly?
  13. It's media coverage that gets on my nerves, how about treating them as adults? It's non stop positivity, they're always brilliant even when they're shit. It goes for most women's sports coverage. No objectivity allowed. It's as if we're being forced to watch Claire Baldwin covering the Olympics.
  14. A strong breeze will take him out during a pre-match warm up.
  15. Pretty appalling this. I understand he feels he needs to ape Blair and New Labour but simply choosing to rollover every nasty Tory policy for fear of offending the core Tory vote and the media will just result in Labour becoming the Tory party in government. What next from Starmer? He'll be outlining a new Labour policy of locating gunboats in the channel and firing on those pesky immigrants?
  16. I had an antibiotic resistant bacterial infection in my left leg which destroys tissue and turns bone to dust as well as covering the leg with cellulitis which is effectively tissue death followed by my left leg being amputated earlier this year. Pre-amputation it was excruciating painful. Every time I put any weight on my left foot I could hear bones cracking and crunching in the leg as they broke. Weirdly the actual amputation just below the knee done under a local anaesthetic and the post operative recovery wasn't really painful at all.
  17. I had to check that on Google Maps just to be sure it wasn't real.
  18. Whoever it is really needs to learn that the internet is full of free porn rather than spunking 35k on a one to one webcam with a 17 year old....apparently.
  19. I hope so, bazball is great to watch but it's effectively treating every innings as an aggressive 50 over run chase. Teeing off at nearly every ball trying to hit the opposition with a blizzard of fours and sixes. A bit of situational awareness added to the aggression would make England a much better side.
  20. Yep we do, possibly being extra tight due to selling up or seeking new investment (which they'll keep)? I can see Mac Allister being our only significant signing. I'm waiting for the excuses....inflated market, manager 'happy' with the squad, lack of CL money etc. Kronke has splashed the cash with the Denver Nuggets and the LA Rams so it's no surprise he's spending with Arsenal. I always thought Arsenal's limited spending assertion was a bit overstated.
