  1. It's about being pragmatic and getting the most out of your available resources. Unfortunately this for me is the single biggest failing of our manager exposed through a lack of experience. Fine with me that our manager wants us to play like Barcelona, a desirable long term objective. Good management however is about delivery in the here and now as well as building for the long term.
  2. It would be nice to beat a side in the top half of the league. Rodgers is a limited and inexperienced manager out of his depth firmly establishing us in the bottom half of the league.
  3. He only won it finally on goal difference with by far and away the strongest and most expensive squad. How much have City spent if you include wages over the last four years? £500 million? £600 million? Given the amount they've spent he's doing the bare minimum in reality and I assume he'll be replaced in the summer.
  4. He'd improve us simply by us only having one real striking option. If the rumours are true about salary demands and position in the side then no thanks. I'd prefer Walcott given that he can play in multiple positions and I actually think he might be very effective played as a striker.
  5. Pretty much summed it up. I'm going to set myself a challenge over the next few months of trying to spend a single day without hearing, reading or watching a single mention of the royal pregnancy. It's going to rely on a very isolated caravan in the woods.
  6. I'm not quite sure what Rafa's upto? In the space of little of a week he's failed to win any of his first three games whilst taking a swipe at a former favourite manager and unofficially announced that the likes of Cole and Lampard are not having their contracts renewed. Given that irrespective of next summer situation he's going to be relying on the remaining spine of the Chelsea side which they haven't even begun to replace, it does appear a bit bizarre. I'm quite sure the likes of Cole and Lampard are really going to put in the appropriate effort for Rafa.
  7. A successful transfer window in January where we bring in a couple of additions that genuinely add something would be a big step forward, not necessarily big money, big name buys either. It would be great to see that our scouting system isn't painting by numbers for once.
  8. Good to see him back. Looks a much better side that with Shelvey and Lucas in.
  9. The odds on Avram Grant being 'caretaker' by Christmas will have shortened considerably. Having an 'interim' manager rarely works, does he really have any authority with the players? I assume the players really won't be too arsed and we all know how easy it is for a team to get the manager sacked. Add to that the toxic hatred from the supporters is going to be seeping through the club. I know getting sacked by Chelsea is hardly a mark against your CV but if he's shown the door after only a handful of games then I suspect that's basically it for Rafa as a top flight manager. Mind you he must be absolutely loaded after payoff's from us, Inter and potentially Chelsea?
  10. Ooop another Torres miss. Just wondering how long Rafa will get? Given Romans form a bad run of 6-8 games usually sees you out of a job even for a popular manager?
  11. Yep very simple, direct and effective.
  12. Agent Rafa is doing his job well.....
  13. Bit of a race to the bottom though this isn't it? If it's going to be a remotely meaningful comparison then Rodger's will have to deliver a 2nd half to the season as strong as Kenny's first half. Equally Rodgers hasn't had to deal with the impact of losing Suarez for eight games or the whole effect the Suarez saga had on the club. Comparing selective runs of matches across seasons has very limited meaning. All it really shows is that our current manager has not as yet managed to arrest the decline from the 2nd half of last season or over the last three years. Personally I'm dubious of whether he'll ultimately be able to do it, I'm happy for him to have the time to find out. We've got an inexperienced manager learning on the job. The question is simply does he have the talent and will he be able turn the situation around quickly enough to offset the inevitable further decline whilst he gets up to speed? We have to be prepared to buy into the one step back two steps forward argument.
  14. Not a bad call this, decent quality streams and covers all the matches. Pricey though.
  15. Yep disappointing but I assume there might have been a clamp down? LoF had been deteriorating for quite a while and the change to Bitscores along with the closed subscription was a pretty sure sign the end was near. A few posts on the internet seem to think it will reappear under a new domain name, I doubt it though. It's been utter pants for the last few weeks.
  16. We are dealing with a manager whose definition of success from his own experience is 11th place. If we get into the top half at some point it's definitely going to be time to release a dvd.
  17. It's based on the theory of us apparently needing to take a huge leap backwards whilst our manager works his magic or learns on the job depending on your point of view. In reality we've been a team in decline for four years on the pitch and a significant step backwards in the league this season will make it even harder for Rodgers to deliver next summer especially given our owners new found love for 'organic growth'.
  18. Just as long as he doesn't describe it as a magnificent performance. No defeat is magnificent. I do wonder if our manager assumes that style points are awarded at the end of the season rendering the requirement to actually win a match secondary?
  19. How the fuck did we not get something out of that? Oh yes I forgot, we've only got one recognised striker.
  20. I think the problem is that FSG don't know what they are doing. At every level within our club sits someone with 'L' plates on, no track record of delivering success within football at the highest level. From our owners, to chairman, our managing director, manager to backroom staff.
  21. Just feels like a bit of a managed decline to me, not the managers fault, we cut our budget to live within our means so we can't keep up with our competitors, our squad is extremely limited resulting in us finishing lower down the league and our revenues fall accordingly. Next year we cut our budget again, less funding is available as we live within our means and we continue to fall even further behind. Repeat each season until we find a level where our opponents are in a similar position. Our expectations are being slashed season by season to fit into our annual new reality. I appreciate pumping money into a football club is a license to burn money however the reality that in order to even consider competing for a top four place the squad will require substantial investment irrespective of a talented manager. Attempting to grow organically is just as likely to lock us into a cycle of decline. Any organisation purchasing a distressed business often do so under the realisation that to be successful a short to medium term investment is often required to return results over the longer term. We're effectively hoping that a talented but very inexperienced manager can go against the curve and deliver results beyond our sustainable investment levels and the superior spending of our apparent rivals.
  22. Astounding, unpleasant and deeply, deeply stupid. Chelsea fans must officially have the lowest IQ of any clubs supporters? I can't recall ever seeing something like that. If Maureen was appointed as our manager there would be a heck of a lot of grumbling and perhaps even a few boos but I genuinely doubt he'd get a reception like that. Interestingly apart from a bit of grumbling they don't appear to be prepared to direct much of their anger at the man responsible for this situation? As for Rafa, I wonder if it's occurred to Chelsea plastic flag waving supporters that despite his faults he was simply doing his job as Liverpool manager fighting our corner and trying to gain every edge he could. I assume he'll do the same for Chelsea, it might actually be quite useful for them to have someone in charge who will stand up for the club. Chelsea has a real disconnect between the supporters and the club.
  23. He's not the player he once was, that much is clear to me this season. He's still a hell of talent to have available and capable of winning a match for us, we're going to have start thinking of side without him regularly.
  24. It's got a lot to do with the lack of media scrutiny these managers get. Compared to say Rafa and they are routinely referred to as top managers without having achieved a great deal. MoN has been shite for years.
