  1. Exceptions rather than the rule though. I'm much more positive than I was about Rodgers after the 2nd half of last season. Given the position we're in it's still a big ask for him.
  2. We'll probably be announcing that we've managed to negotiate Napoli into letting us pay all of Reina's wages for the season.
  3. Cook is very conservative, sometimes absurdly so, he's got the big decisions right so far so can't really complain. It just would seem to make sense to put them in tonight for 10 overs or so. Given the total they're chasing it could make the task even easier tomorrow by picking up a couple of wickets against a side tired from fielding all day?
  4. Probably to do with Suarez being committed to the cause when on the pitch whilst Downing has routinely gone missing?
  5. Mata > Rooney frankly. I think this appears to be genuine, really surprised that Maureen doesn't rate Mata? I don't think United would have trouble fitting Mata in behind RVP, he'd be better than Rooney. I suspect United have leaked this, they just want more cash in the deal.
  6. Yes he has, do a search on google for michael owen and that rag, you don't need to read the article. A new low even for him.
  7. Sort of player we'd be attracting if Rafa was still here.
  8. Yep definitely, it's not just the lack of CL football, it's the lack of realistic prospects of qualifying, we've not even been able to mount a challenge and be in contention for four years. Rodgers lack of name for really big stars probably doesn't help but given the fact that we're not at present competing at that level it's really a moot point. Given that the profile of player we're going for at the moment seems to generally be younger up and coming players looking to establish themselves Rodgers is a pretty good fit. I still believe (probably a delusion) that for the sort of player we're after we still probably have an advantage given our cachet, history and size of club. Short of really throwing humungous wages at players I don't really see an alternative.
  9. They kept Rooney happy by paying him 250k a week. United are a side challenging for the PL and CL most seasons so it's inherently easier to keep players quiet. They effectively delayed Ronaldo's move by getting him to agree to stay for an extra 12 month in return for agreeing a deal with Madrid. This is something I assume we might be considering? I'd be genuinely surprised if he started playing silly games and went AWOL. Despite his utterances over the last few weeks he doesn't strike me as being another Tevez (who has a long track record).
  10. Agreed, selling to a club that we're trying to directly compete with over the next couple of seasons if all goes well is madness e.g. Arsenal, Spurs etc. If he wants to go abroad and play in the CL fine, I can understand his motives even if I don't appreciate him broadcasting his intentions through his native media on a near daily basis. I'd prefer it if he stayed for another season and helped us qualify for the CL. Even if we end up with £80 million through combined sales this summer we're going to struggle to attract real quality additions without paying huge salaries.
  11. If I was to place a bet, I'd say the outcome of all this will be a £40 million transfer to City.
  12. Which would be fine if that was all he said... "There have been no offers yet, but Liverpool know exactly what is going on and what I want," "My agent is in charge, he knows what I want, I am resting and relaxed. I am due back in about 10 days, on the 21st of July (a phone call could change everything.)" "It's good to know that I am still valued by teams like Arsenal. Friends call me up to ask if I am moving to Chelsea, to which I laugh." It's not as if this is an isolated statement, he's made his position pretty clear. I think it's fair to state that he clearly hasn't said he's about to join an English club but it's not something that could be ruled out?
  13. For someone as adverse to the media he does appear to have little problem priming the media on a regular basis. He's now flattered by interest from Chelsea and Arsenal? I assume they're out of the question due to being located in England? He also appears to have completely forgotten about a certain contractual obligation? If he wants to go fine, he's a terrific player and is clearly better than scrapping for 7th place. However it's about time he 'mans' up a little, put in a transfer request etc rather than trying to engineer a transfer through the media.
  14. Yep same here, I'm definitely now vaping quite a bit less than I was smoking. Have a read here for an unscientific outline of the effects of smoking against vaping. I think the fact that the nicotine is slow released compared to cigarettes is quite important. Nicotine absorption vaping vs. smoking
  15. Thanks for the advice, funnily enough dripping is the next thing on the list, I've been looking at buying a chorge. Is it worth the effort? I assume you get a much richer cleaner taste? I have to say I'm still impressed with tanks although I'm still finding much of the terminology a bit confusing, tanks appear to often be called clearomizers and vice versa. The whole vaping thing is great, it's got a real ritual about it that really helps getting over smoking ciggies. I've been smoking 30 a day for years, bought a vaping mod and haven't had a cigarette or any withdrawal since picking up a mod.
  16. Just superb isn't it. I'd strongly recommend you go for a full mod kit, there's a big difference between an over the counter e-cigarette and a full mod device. Bit daunting at first but it's easy to pick up and a lot of fun with all the bits and pieces you can put together. I've gone straight for a Vamo v2.5 for home and an Innoken iTaste MVP on the road. I've put my own coil, atomizer and tank on both. Probably the nicest thing I've ever smoked and clearly only a fraction as harmful as cigarettes however you want to dress it up. Irrespective of parts of the medical fraternity who appear to have lost all sense and morphed into the Catholic church with an absolute stance of quit smoking or die alongside the hostility of the pharmaceutical industry I can only say how I feel over a week since I last smoke a ciggy and that is 100x healthier.
  17. He kept sending private messages to everyone with links to photo's of him in an angry and aroused state.
  18. Have to say I've never been a great fan, however this summer is ace, think it's the fact that we haven't had a decent summer since 2006. There's a lot to be said for bbq's and tits.
  19. Just the hard faced nature of both of them and all politicians. They can all go fuck each other sideways. Is there any circumstance or moment where they're not thinking about their fucking careers? Personally being a politician is the gold standard for serious mental health problems.
  20. Yep made up for both of them great win, Lendl deserves a lot of credit being a man who went through exactly the same as Murray for many years being a perennial runner up before winning himself.
  21. Exactly, you need to be able to get under the skin of the very best players and Murray can certainly do this now. Still think Novak is going to come back into this, Murray was outstanding in that set because he was often losing out in the rally. I just hope Novak keeps rushing things.
  22. He's a genuine quality player now Murray, over the last 18 months he's finally joined that bracket of the top four players. Prior to last year he probably would have lost that semi-final.
  23. Yep exactly, they're still in a hugely advantageous position, you'd have to really screw it up but it will only cause a slight decline to cause panic amongst their ranks. They're already understandably nervous, if they'd brought in someone who'd actually won something at the highest level they'd be less concerned. It's going to be a very interesting season coming up for us and the Premiership in general, with three out of the top four in a state of change. Now if only we can genuinely get our act together this summer?
  24. Yeah now we know what he's been up to and particularly the use of the courts to gag the media using his children as an excuse is particularly nasty. Apparently these role models that the media seem to define are only judged for their on field activities? His eyes are too close together as well.
  25. Agree completely with this, since last summer we appear to be giving the impression of a reasonably well run club, not perfect but much improved. I rather like our transfer targets which for the first time in many years as you say appear to be researched in advance and are part of a distinct pattern. We've wasted far too much over the last few years and we're simply not in the position to buy top flight players due to our lack of Champions League football and frankly the huge wage demands. We're going to reestablish ourselves by as the cliche states, getting ahead of the curve by spotting younger up and coming players who haven't yet established themselves at the top level. There's obviously a significant risk here, a percentage of them won't work out but it's the only way we're going to be able to compete.
