  1. The latter YEARS? Can't agree with that. The last year, maybe, but the previous season was one of the most exciting times to be a Liverpool fan in a long time. A genuine title challenge, a European Cup semi-final, playing good, attacking football, smashing teams, decent teams at that like Villa, United, Real Madrid and scoring 4 or 5 goals in the process. Would hardly count that as dismal. Don't let the poor last season cloud your judgement. Onwards and upwards? Really? Fair enough, sack a good manager who until last season has pretty much consistently qualified for the Champions League and replace him with a better manager. However, the state of the club means we will not attract a real top name manager so it's going to be a case of replacing like for like or even for a worse manager. Granted, apart from one season, Rafa hasn't really delivered what most fans want, which is a genuine title challenge. Sadly, quite a lot of that is down to the financial power of our rivals, who can shell out money left, right and centre, whereas Benitez was on a tight budget, making his signing more open to scrutiny. I mean, look at United. They've just spent £8m on a relatively unknown Mexican striker, who has the POTENTIAL to be good. Benitez wasn't afforded this luxury. Pretty much every signing he made had to be good. He couldn't gamble on £8m players with potential. He was having to pay £8m (if he was lucky) for first team players. So, in summary, look at the bigger picture before saying that Rafa leaving is a good thing. Anyway, if someone like Martin O'Neill or Roy Hodgson equals onwards and upwards to some people (as that's the only calibre of manager I genuinely believe we'll be able to attract) then so be it.
  2. So Israel are right in this. Surely that makes the people who have come out and condemned these murderous actions liars. For example, that renowned lying bastard, Archbishop Desmond Tutu. You couldn't make the Israeli version of events up!...........Unless your name is Mark Regev or Lipi Zivni. I'm watching the coverage on Press TV (Sky 515) for a more balanced point of view than Sky, CNN etc. Some of the experts are getting rather passionate about what has happened.
  3. Yes. Agreed. However, I can't see the Americans being absolved of any causative effect in this. They've already shown historically a complete disregard to civilians in armed conflict - Hiroshima, Vietnam. Now add Fallujah to the list.
  4. I'm not sure on the exact position, but it looks like the US will never be brought to task for their part in this. Apparently, the use of white phosphorus is illegal under international law only if it is used as an offensive weapon. Obviously, the yanks will hide behind the "we only used at as an illuminative device to flash out the insurgents, Siree Bob" argument. Also, would the use of white phosphorus as a weapon would constitute a war crime? Would such a war crime be judged and subsequently punished by the International Criminal Court? It just so happens that the US boycotts this court and therefore would not recognise it's jurisdiction. Shocking.
  5. Not to worry - found it by typing "birth defects fallujah" into Google. Who'da thunk it? Seem highly coincidental that sharp rise in defects in direct correlation with the use of white phosphorus, for "illumination purposes" apparently. Can't believe America haven't been held to task for this. Well, I can actually, but that's a different story...
  6. Dennis, any links for the original source article for this? Not doubting it's authenticity, would just like to have a look at the article. I remember seeing pictures on an Italian website (possibly for Rai Uno - Italian TV channel) showing the effects white phosphorus used by the U.S. Forces had on bombings victims. Not pleasant stuff.
  7. - QUBO GAS - This stuff is quite funky and the prints are affordable.
  8. About a year or so ago, there was a good documentary on Channel Four about Chinese contemporary art. Some really good stuff. I'm a particular fan of Zhong Biao. Can't be fussed posting pics, but worth doing a google image search, in my humble opinion. Good shit, but can't by prints anywhere and i'm lacking the hundreds of thousands of pounds to buy an original, alas. You can't go wrong with a basic Rothko either, in my opinion.
  9. Who is this Pandevgivesitaway player for Inter who keeps getting mentioned by the commentators? Weren't we linker to Pandev? Glad we never got him. He's abysmal. Cue second half of Inter shutting up shop after 10 minutes of the second half has gone. Not the most inspiring of finals and can only see it becoming less entertaining second half.
  10. Montserrat Lombard is amazing. I think I might love her. Geeky chicks rock.
  11. With all due respect, Ken Bigley contributed to his own death. People were warned that Iraq was not a safe place for Westerners to live and work in. He failed to heed these warnings in pursuit of a quick buck. Sad what happened to him, but he should have listened to what he was told. Like it or not, the UK are signatories to the European Convention on Human Rights and have we are simply not allowed to deport individuals to a country where their article 2 and 3 rights will be breached, irrespective of their criminal conduct or, in this case, suspected but unproven criminal conduct. As some have said, I'd prefer our intelligence to be watching this person like a hawk to prevent any terrorist attacks and think that this would be easier if he remained in the UK with his liberty in effect removed from him by way of control order.
  12. Can't be fussed doing links but: Van Basten Euro 88 Overmars for Barcelona in Champions League against us. About 20-30 passes Carlos Alberto for Brazil in 1970 World Cup final
  13. I'd like Fulham to win, preferably with Danny Murphy or Simao scoring first, Forlan scoring at anytime and with Konchesky getting the first booking and Baird to be booked at anytime. Haven't had a bet on the game though.....
  14. Is it just me who thinks she has a degree of bangability about her? Should be in the milf's thread.
  15. Does anybody else think Martine McCutcheon has a look of Noddy about her?
  16. I think I might have a slight newsreader fetish. Emily Maitlis is looking decent too. Couple of decent ones on Sky too.
  17. She'd well get a 12% swing on my poll.
  18. I'm new and don't know how to embed videos (and can't be arsed reading how to at the minute) Musically not my cup of tea, but that little smile at about 1:36 in.....:wow: Lovely. I'd happily marry her and pick sick out of her hair after a drunken night out.
  19. I actually enjoyed watching the way Spurs played tonight. Lots of pace and directness in the right areas, namely down the wings and had a real go against Citeh. Was impressed with Lennon and both Bale and Assou-Ekoto. Also, Crouch played well. Redknapp knows how to play to Crouch's strengths. One thing that would piss me off with Benitez's tactics when Crouch was at the club would be how he'd have out and out wingers on the pitch when Crouch wasn't playing, but would play people like Benayoun and Gerrard on the wing, players who would generally cut inside, when Crouch did play. I'm in the pro-Rafa camp (or maybe the can't see anybody better and realistic at the moment) but think his negativity has contributed to us not getting fourth place this season. I think Spur's performance tonight backs that up. Put's our 0-0 with Citeh, with zero attempts on target, to shame.
  20. Fabiano and Villa for me, with a few quid e/w on Crouch and Kaka as outsiders.
  21. He's selling his shinpads on e-bay. This is the clearest sign yet that he will not be a Liverpool player next season. MENS UMBRO SHINPADS on eBay (end time 10-May-10 19:43:46 BST)
  22. Re: Benitez comments on Allardyce. Yes, he did say something after we played Blackburn. However, the BBC article quoted clearly says Benitez "retorted" so it was obviously in response to some off Allardyce's usual nonsense. That's the difference, as Wenger made his comments off his own back to tell us all what a terribly, raw and unfair deal Arsenal get when playing against the big, rough boys.
  23. This is true. I've just tried to order one for my little cousin and was told the same thing. I asked for Mascherano 20, Gerrard 8 and Agger 5 instead and they told me to hang on in respect of these two. They did say to me I could have Bramble 39, Taino 41 or Vennegoor of Hesselink 74, but told me not to mention this to anyone.
