  1. When they have worked out it will take 100m to get us back into the CL, they will sell up. Henry already said he wouldn't have bought us if it wasn't for the FFF, which he thought would let us compete. It will soon dawn on him it means nothing and they will be off.
  2. Gylifi's not American. This ones been ordered from high up.
  3. League: 7th FA Cup: QFs League Cup: 4th Rd Europa League: Last 16
  4. He may not be a 35m player, but he isn't a write-off. It was clear at Euro 2012 what he can do with the right service and motivation. Doesn't have to be a starter, but a good option to have. Or do we want all our strikers to be the same?
  5. With the exception of Aquilani, who imo has been treated shockingly and has more than enough talent to be involved, agree with you. I am increasingly coming to the view that these "we've added Dempsey to a team that came within one game of winning the FA Cup" yanks have no idea about anything. If Rodgers was 40, he wouldn't have got the job.
  6. Wenger won the French league before he upped and left for Japan, in part due to the fact Marseille were cheating to beat Monaco every year. Guardiola came from nowhere? What comparable playing career does Rodgers have compared to Guardiola? Barcelona had him in house, in charge of the B team. It was a risk, but they wanted to go back to their roots. Mourinho was a translator, but then became an assistant and a coach. Before he ended up at Chelsea he'd managed both Benfica and Porto.
  7. Would this be the same Ferguson who dominated Scottish football with Aberdeen and beat Real Madrid in a European final? Or the same Wenger who won the French league with Monaco and kept them toe-to-toe with Marseille when Marseille were bribing and doping like mad? Yeah, I can see how Rodgers fits that mould.
  8. It's an unnecessary risk when you've got people like Van Gaal, Benitez, Rijkaard, Capello etc all available. It's driven by FSG's rabid desire to have a young manager - they associate young with hungry, must not have checked the age of that guy over at Old Trafford - and they will either live or die by it. My guess is they're gone in two years anyway when it becomes apparent they will have to throw some serious money at it to regularly get in the CL. Of course, Rodgers gets my full support and hopefully he will be a gamble that pays off.
  9. They've probably offered him "head coach" job. FSG probably see manager as "general manager" or dof.
  10. Bang on. Wigan are a small club and he takes pride at developing players/managers and then seeing them go to bigger clubs - there's nothing wrong with that. And you can be sure it's helped him sign numerous players that they know he won't stand in their way. Surely we'd all rather be owned locally, by someone who went the match every week. If they had the money, of course.
  11. Why on earth would you unsettle your club and players by speaking to a club who want to speak to 12 people about the job? Does an approach from said club sound like they have faith in you and want you to build something? Or does it sound like they haven't got a clue?
  12. Don't get this rubbish about not being able to attract. It depends on how much money they make available. Almost every manager wants to manage in the Premier League. And we're still one of the top six clubs in the country, even leaning on the pessimistic side. Garcia would bite our hand off. He's losing Hazard this summer and Lille won't be able to bankroll team building in any of the ways we can. I heard all the same arguments when Houllier went. And we signed the guy who had just won La Liga.
  13. Let's have all the seats tilted up too so we can avoid neck strain.
  14. He's leaving Roma. That's confirmed. But it's one year at a difficult club. And he is schooled in the Barca ways to work with Begiristain. If we want to go down the Barca route, he is more realistic than Guardiola, and he would come.
  15. Hiddink won't leave Anzhi.
  16. What about Luis Enrique? Forget Guardiola, he wants a year off anyway. Get Begiristain as DOF and Enrique as head coach. Light years ahead of anything Martinez or Rodgers, even if he's had a struggle at Roma with Totti determined to shoot down anyone who leaves him out.
  17. Didn't he want Curbishley in 2004? And pushed for Woy. Is that the judgement we want?
  18. Neville has UEFA A and B coaching licenses. But that wasn't the reason he was appointed - it was to keep a certain someone onside.
