  1. If the story is true, it would make more sense for me that Hodgson (knowing they want him out) would leak it as a parting shot to the owners (which would seem to be working if the responses on here are typical), than NESV, the consumate PR people, acting in such a cack-handed manner. Then again, if the story is true, and if it was leaked by NESV, I still don't see how they have created a situation by leaking because, again, Hodgson (and the players presumably) would've known beforehand that they want him out pronto.
  2. Assuming the story isn't a load of speculative bollocks, I wouldn't be surprised if the source was Hodgson himself.
  3. "Obviously it's somewhat disappointing to lose so emphatically, but if we're going to get thumped 7-0 then knowing it was to a quality side like the one Sir Alex has assembled does make things somewhat easier to bear, as I'm sure those Liverpool fans will understand."
  4. Always good for a laugh. 'Fit & Healthy', 'Charismatic'. Fucking Hell.
  5. I've tried resisting from commenting on Roy's comments (though fuck knows they haven't filled me with confidence) but, seriously Roy, you can fuck right off if you believe you've done a satisfactory job so far. Right now we're entrenched in mid-table mediocrity, the squad is worse for the signings he's made, the football veers from absolute shite to merely boring, players feel isolated and unwanted, others are played out of position, our tactics are wholly negative, an away draw is considered a good result - and yet, according to Hodgson, everyone bar himself and the tea-lady at Melwood is responsible for our problems. He's right in one respect though: there is plenty of work to do - it's just that there's more work to do since Roy came in and put his own unique stamp on the club.
  6. Hey guys, let's stop the bickering. It's Christmas in a few hours, when we unite as one and celebrate the birth of our Saviour, who rose once before to deliver us from eternal damnation, and will do so again.
  7. '...and now they're petitioning the owners to get him back!'
  8. It's disagreeable to the owners and their management structure, and, unless we campaign to get shot of them and get in some new owners who'd accomodate Rafa's 'vision', that's all that matters in the final analysis. Besides, I very much doubt there's a manager in history who's been given everything he wanted; it's just that, more often than not, we don't hear about it because they keep it in-house and get on with their job.
  9. I've already said why I don't want to debate it - it detracts from the reason I gave as to why I don't want him back. Even if you convinced me that Rafa was superb the last time around, it wouldn't change anything now. Now, can someone tell me why they believe Rafa could operate successfully under our new regime given Rafa's constant demands for more power throughout his career, and the owners stated intention to limit a managers power? Because, if they can't, then how can they conclude that he should come back now?
  10. Nope, because I'm not getting into a debate about Rafa's previous reign on this thread. These debates never get anywhere IMO, and it's irrelevant to the reason, above any other, why I don't think he should come back now.
  11. It's a decent defence of his previous reign here (although I would take issue with parts of it), but it dosen't even touch on the reason that I and others have gave for why he shouldn't come back. Even if the overwhleming conclusion was that Rafa's time here was an unqualifed success, that still dosen't change one salient fact: that we have new owners who have a different way of managing a club and who would offer whoever their manager is less control than Rafa had before - and God knows he wanted more control then.
  12. "Aye, and check out her tits Brian. I grabbed a wee look when John bent down to do his laces up."
  13. They will be when Tom Werner comes out and says that Rafa's not the man to move us forward...
  14. Have to say I'm surprised that, on here especially, a majority of fans want to give Rafa another shot at LFC. It seems to me that many of those who voted 'yes' looked at the question as 'would you rather have Rafa here over Roy?' and voted on that basis. That, at least, would make sense and be in keeping with the tedious 'debates' surrounding both of them over the last months, although I don't see why so many fans believe the only two managers in club football are Benitez and Hodgson, and that any criticism/defence of one is inferred as a criticism/defence of the other. Anyway, bringing Rafa back would be a disasterous decision IMO, one which would make my faith in NESV's judgement fall through the floor. Although I wanted him out by the end, I never had the same resentment for him that others do, and I genuinely wish him all the best for the future, but he's shown time and again that he struggles to work with people, and has no qualms about mouthing off to the media when he dosen't get what he wants - which is ultimately total control over every footballing decision at the club. NESV, both in what they've said, their record in the States, and in appointing a DOF, want management by consensus. Whether or not you agree with this aproach, it's as clear as fucking day that Rafa dosen't. The idea that he could work with Comolli is ridiculous IMO.
  15. Roy's nose-picking methods have translated from Halmstads to Malmo, to Orebo to Neuchatel Xamax, to the Swiss national team.
  16. I'd be surprised, and dissapointed, if Kenny was happy to see the Liverpool manager use his and the previous manager's name like that to score points with the press - regardless of whether or not Roy was telling the truth.
  17. I want Roy out, but I voted no because I think it's a fucking embarassment that fans are sending polls to the owners about the manager.
  18. "The only people we hate more than the Scum are the fucking Carrapologists. Scousers."
  19. I'm no expert on Man U's finances, but as I understand it, the debt in question (the £220m PIK's debt) is the Glazer's own debt anyway - not Man U's. There's also speculation that they're paying off this debt (their own debt) by loaning against the club - which would then put £220m on to Man U's books. If so, their debt's just increased by nearly a third overnight.
  20. Time to crack open that special bottle of bubbly I'd been saving for Thatcher's death.
  21. The success of the internet campaign (not that I think the 'Dear Mr Hicks' vid had any effect, although Jeffries obviously does) in helping get shot of G&H has proved to be a double-edged sword. Now, it seems, some fans feel justified in doing similar whenever things aen't going they way they want. What next? An internet campaign to oust Hodgson's successor when he drops Carra? An internet campaign to oust Hodgson's successor when he dosen't drop Carra? The circumstances which led to the previous campaign were truly expectional, and called for expectional measures: the club itself was in real danger of going out of business had G&H remained. As frustrating as Roy's tenure is, it just dosen't compare in scale.
  22. 'No fucking lie John. I walked in, and she's sat like this on the sofa, her gash showing and everything. I sez to her "fucking hell love, what if Wayne comes home?" But she just smiled. Have you met Waynes missus John?'
