  1. Maybe we could buy expensive full backs like Clichy, Sagna and Evra or bring through our own full backs (Warnock, Kelly etc?)
  2. If goals and assists were what made you keep your place in the team and lets face it, they are hugely important then we should never have replaced Cisse on the right. He had pace, he had assists and he scored 19 goals in his last season with us. The Kuyt debate will rage on and on but I like others on here judge a player when the team is playing shit and not just when the team is playing excellent and carrying mediocre players like Kuyt.
  3. We've not done to well; with £10m regions wingers have we? None of Babel, Kuyt, Riera etc have inspired me.
  4. People say football is a simple game ruined by tacticians. Given that, it doesn't matter how long Kenny has been away, he will step right back in, right? His stints at Newcastle and Celtic doesn't inspire but the Liverpool version of Kenny is a different animal. I want Rafa to stay but appointing Kenny instead would definitely soften the blow.
  5. I am not in the have a go at the manager camp but saw that on Skythis morning and felt embarassed, even the words came out all wrong. Cringeworthy sort of describes it but it was meant with the best intentions no doubt.
  6. I was devastated at losing to Fulham, and I'd be devastated at losing my dad but I bet the spectrum is pretty wide isn't it? No point getting hung up on a choice of words, especially one that might just be a headline.
  7. This thread is full of the use of the word "cunt" and it started with people calling Collymore all sorts and it continued from there. This is the most aggressive forum on the internet by far but football is an emotional sport and I guess it is what's to be expected.
  8. Is this a slow death by media? First Winter then Carra, then Stevie.
  9. We have spent 100's of millions on poor players, thats what has put us behind more than anything else these past 20 years. Only Rafa has bought in real world class players like Torres and Mascherano. OK he has bought some duds but all managers do. I read somewhere that we have spent a lot these past 20 years and that can only be down to the poor buys by Souness, Evans and Houllier.
  10. Sounds funny but for us I think it can be over early doors, hear me out. When a team who haven't won it in 20 years start dropping points they then find it difficult to make up those points because they aren't use to the pressure of chasing the league title. If a team who hasn't won it ages wants to be challengers they need to hit the ground running and lead from the front like we did last year and even then we lacked the bottle to make it count when United put pressure on us.
  11. There is credence to the comment that Collymore has spoken out against the club owners more than legends such as Kenny Dalglish have but can you take any player seriously who says he wanted Rafa out for over a year? Where was he from February to May?
  12. Reina, Johnson and Torres apart, who has stood out though? Carra has been "shit" by his own standards I'd guess but the truth is the team have been poor, we don't need scapegoats.
  13. Mate, how is a young player supposed to get experience and become a better player if we throw him to the wolves on a game by game basis? Same as for Lucas, if people got off his back and let him play a run of games he might, just might get better. What are the alternatives right now?
  14. The players have let Rafa down. Kuyt and Babel are both £10m strikers and they haven't done it up front since day one. N'Gog is a promising young striker and Gerrard can also play there. Voronin had a good season in Germany so as back up they should all be doing better than they are. Nobody in the world can replace Torres in his current form so that's not realistic. Someone mentioned something about "someone inside the club feeding the press" well unless it is the players the rest all get on with Rafa or have been appointed by Rafa. Unless Purslow is being a snide?
  15. Not turning my nose up but how humiliating would the Europa league be? Those Thursday nights after a United win the night before seem like so long ago now.
  16. There is no way Carra could deck Collymore.
  17. Can we really buy the pandering to the press stuff? Ferguson has sworn at them for years and they are petrified of him. Managers are judged on results and I've seen the knives come out for Mourinho when his success slowed down. The press need to sell papers, nothing does that better than a sacked manager.
  18. This is assuming that the best interests of the club will be better managed by Mourinho/Capello/Lippi etc. There are no guarantees in with these guys either except that we will have to pay to get rid of Rafa and pay a lot in compensation and salary to get one of those guys in. Taking all that into account, the "best interests of the club" might come down to counting beans.
  19. Players like Jamie Carragher (largely off form this season) and Steven Gerrard (injured and often off form) need to have a good look at themselves before doing a hatchet job on the manager behind his back. Rafa isn't doing well at the moment and criticism is valid, snide back chatting is out of order.
  20. First post. It isn't just about what he has spent though what about the value of players? Reina, Torres, Mascherano, Agger, Johnson would cost £100m. They were bought for £55m. Not many increased their value under Ged did they? Granted there have been a lot of failures and that's what is hurting us but you can't ignore the revenue he has bought in and the value of some of the players HE bought.
