  1. I sympathise with you, but having read around on the matter articles, inculding this news story, seem to indicate that the club broke the rules. Doubt you'll win your appeal, but good luck coming back from the double relegation.
  2. Wouldn't be a World Cup without this sort of thing. I think the difference is they keep increasing the pressure of the ball, which keeps it the same weight but means it moves around more. Still, everyone has to play with the same ball so if it's rubbish or not, all teams will be at an equal disadvantage.
  3. Not sure why people are so worried about Heskey, up front we're pretty much fine. However, as this World Cup 2010 blog points out we've looked shakey at the back in the last two games, Ferdniand being muscled off the ball by a man half his size was a particular worry. Wouldn't fancy us to beat the Germans in the last 16 if that's what it came down to.
  4. Not Premier League class. Needs four or five chances to score and he won't get that many in the top flight.
  5. So Broughton basically said pretty much nothing about Torres other than refusing to say he won't be sold. What's the fuss?
  6. Bobby Charlton, 1970. It's got to be. Some of these run him pretty close though. I wonder who will have the worst haircut this time around - David James' has always been dubious.
  7. If Qatar (or anywhere else new for that matter) gets the World Cup before we do I'll be fuming. Nothing against those places, but the fact we haven't had it for 44 years is a bit much. Even France is getting another major tournament despite having only hosted one 12 years ago...
  8. The current affair goes back to basics, which is something I quite like. However, the Italia '90 strip was of its time and brings back so many memories, some good, some bad. I can't believe that this writer has picked the 1982 England strip over the red 1966 shirt, in this list of the greatest ever World Cup kits.
  9. Seems to be the case if Corinthian models are to be believed? Did anyone collect these? I remember being rather underwhelmed by them as a kid - they never seemed to look like the footballers in question. Probably because their heads were too big for their bodies I guess.
  10. Anyone else know how Peter Crouch managed to pull this stunner? I guess money talks, huh? Some guys get all the luck :wallbutt: Seriously though, I am looking forward to the World Cup as much for the WAGs as I am of seeing England charge to the Final.
  11. If only they'd acted sooner, it would have been nothing more than a brush with death.
  12. Hardly. It was the sort of childish repsonse you'd expect from a footballer. Still, he is shit mind.
  13. To be fair to Carragher, he's done what pretty much anyone would have done. As this World Cup squad preview points out, he's pretty much nailed on to go to South Africa now, so he's come out of international retirement for one last shot at glory. And he's got to piss off Garry Neville in the process. Double result.
  14. Some truly dreadful computer games on this list. Has anyone ever played them? I have only played on the O'Leary one and reckon it was a bit like Villa under his stewardship.
  15. I was thinking about this the other day - how some of the world's best players may not be at the World Cup. Some countries have such a wealth of talent that they won't have all their best players there whilst we also have North Korea and New Zealand at the tournament whose players will hardly set us alight. I think the case of Karim Benzema is a case in point - who features in the World Cup Reject XI best team. I think it's a shame that he won't be at the World Cup - he has had a disappointing season but I think he could have stepped up at this tournament and propelled France into the latter stages of the tournament. Now, I don't see how the French can even qualify.
  16. Yes, because mass protests, boycotts, sit-ins etc worked really well at Newcastle and did a lot more than just make their fans a laughing stock. The yanks have said they'll sell. This will take time. We have to wait for now.

  18. My surprise package is Paraguay. As this World Cup group preview points out, they're In a group where their only real rivals are an aging italy side. They could be in with a chance of a little run if they manage to top it.
  19. I'll be amazed if he's still there in ten months, let alone ten years. The bloke that's paying him must have more money than sense (or is very good at lying about how much Adams will be being paid.) Home with his tail between his legs by the end of October.
  20. I have seen some bad ones in my time but this motley crew are hopeless. Has anyone seen any more ridiculous ones?
  21. Silvio - not least because he played guitar in the E Street band...
  22. Anyone seen much of this? There's a few examples on Football 365. I'm not going to pass comment on the sentiment (other than to say I don't think the media has an agenda against Rafa - they're just filling pages). But signing them "THIS E-MAIL IS BEING SENT BY A GENUINE LIVERPOOL SUPPORTER. ANY E-MAILS RECEIVED THAT DO NOT CONTAIN THIS DISCLAIMER ARE MOST CERTAINLY NOT"... I mean really...
  23. Yeah... I remember the good old days when people would get a player's name tattooed on them just before said player moved on. Those were the days, I tell you. Once knew a Bolton fan who had Dietmar Hammann's face tattooed on his back.
  24. I think Harry is massively over-rated as a manager, his transfer record is pretty poor (how much cash has he splashed to get fourth and there's still a tonne of deadwood knocking around). As for last night's game I was shocked how negative Mancini was. As this City versus Spurs review points out the away side were allowed to dominate for large periods. The cautious approach really doesn't work in the Premier League. Also, have you seen the sides they might have to face in the qualifying round? Lyon are in there, Sevilla too and some other really good sides. Even if Spurs do make it through the the group stages they'll get shafted - they'll be unseeded and could face a nightmare group.
  25. How is it "nailed on" drugs related? Ever heard of Sudden adult death syndrome? Besides, if all these footballers were dropping dead from drug abuse it would show up in an autopsey, wouldn't it?
