  1. Not sure what the Palace lad was on about as none of their players got close enough to our lads to have a conversation with them.... As has been mentioned above there was only 1,000 or so there and whilst its easy to over-hype the likes of Suso this team definitely deserves a bigger audience. I've seen every youth team we've had since about 1992 and I think this one would just about beat the lot. When, for instance, was the last time you saw any Liverpool team fielding two wingers able to dribble and cross with either foot? Hopefully, a home draw in the fifth round.
  2. Down with this sort of thing! Whatever next? Before you know it people will be saying there are sectarian undertones at a Rangers Celtic match or that Boca and River Plate don't actually see eye to eye on a number of issues. A few points to make about it: The (very predictable) one-sided reporting of the whole issue is irresponsible and helps perpetuate the problem. Unfortunately Her Majesty's Press Corps has a fair bit of previous with our Club and our City on a number of issues over a long number of years and I don't see it changing anytime soon. They need an angle into it and unfortunately their modus operandi is "its them nasty scousers again." Getting the clubs involved has been tried before - in the mid-eighties - and will not change anything. If the atmosphere at a Liverpool United game upsets your sensibilities then give it a swerve because - again - it isn't changing anytime soon.
  3. Spot on with one minor adjustment. Its not that the London opinion-formers don't matter so much in Liverpool any more. They've never mattered.
  4. Worked in a sausage factory before signing professional forms with Newcastle. Nothing against people who work in sausage factories but says it all as far as I'm concerned. And he had a boss mullet.
  5. Just back from the game (where I heard the news we've all been waiting for) and thawing out with a cup of coffee: Suso - natural born footballer. None of their lot got near him for the first hour should have played central from the start. Jon Flan - Motm These two have got to be knocking on the door come next season. Sterling - beats a man for fun and v good to watch will be some player if he continues to progress Honourable mentions for the rest in a good team performance but we should have had them buried before et was necessary.
  6. Regardless of whether there's any truth in it you couldn't blame him. The club is a fucking shambles at the moment.
  7. Jesus wept. All about opinion of course but if you can't spot the difference between Benitez and Hodgson maybe football isn't the sport for you.
  8. Keep calm and carry on. Come on FSG make the fucking announcement. If he's still here Sunday I'll run bollocko round Old Trafford.
  9. This the same source that told you yesterday Gerrard wouldn't be in the line-up and Torres would play 50 minutes, maximum? Or was that your own particular pearl of wisdom? What a twat of a night that was and to cap it our driver missed the Liverpool turnoff at that fucking stupid M6 / M58 junction rounabout thing and before we knew it we were heading back up the M6. Needed half a bottle of brandy when I got in just to compose myself and gather my thoughts. How did the cricket finish, by the way? He should never have been appointed and then the very first act of the new regime should have been a quick garrotting round the back of the changies at Melwood. Where the fuck is Luca Brasi when you need him? John Henry and the rest at FSG please don't compound two serious errors by letting this joke continue beyond today because nobody is fucking laughing anymore. Time to go Roy - the Sunshine Retirement Home for the terminally senile awaits. And please take you know who with you - you twat.
  10. Spotted in the Lobster Pot last night apparently with Diego and the little 'un.
  11. Putting aside whether it was right or wrong to move Benitez on for one minute I found the timing of it to be bizarre in the extreme given the boardroom instability at the time. Broughton and Purslow dropped a bollock in getting rid when they did, another in the choice of replacement and only managed to redeem themselves in the High Court in October. Unfortunately we are currently paying the price for mistakes 1 and 2 but as I've said elsewhere I don't expect our current manager to last through the next three games.
  12. Load of fucking shite as per. Dissenting voices were for everyone to get behind the team rather than support for the manager and a quick trawl through the forums show the manager is the one thing that all sections of the support are fully unified on. Fat cunt (Samuel)
  13. Don't think he'll last January regardless of the result tomorrow. Man Utd, Blackpool and Everton are all accidents waiting to happen.
  14. The source regarding the opening post is usually on the money so thats the team I'm expecting. No way he's resting Torres or Gerrard because one more defeat and he's out of here.
  15. No disputing it was a tremendous achievement but one swallow and all that... Everything else on his CV - in this country at least - screams mediocre at best and there is not one single aspect of the job he's done with us that is even up to that exalted standard. I have it on decent authority that he has leased his house for a year rather than buy one in the area presumably because of the previous uncertainty over the club's ownership. I would suggest that a decent manager with even an ounce of integrity would not have taken the job under such circumstances and that he's here merely to top up his retirement fund and provide endless ammunition for the club's detractors to take potshots at us.
  16. Can't see a thread so apologies if there is one. Team I've been given is: Pepe Johnson Skrtl Soto Konchesky Cole Stevie Lucas Maxi Ngog Fernando
  17. Well he's not a good manager and everytime he opens his mouth he sounds like a dickhead to me.
  18. Bang on the money. I don't see a problem with making it clear he's not welcome - a fucking ridiculous appointment from the outset and the absolute antithesis of what a Liverpool manager should be.
  19. I think the article is fair enough although it undersells the level to which our current manager is despised and the fact that my mother-in-law could do a better job despite the fact she's been in a secure unit for the last five years. Personally don't think he has any chance of seeing out the month - rather than the 50/50 Winter quotes but there you go. If Hodgson is still in charge against Fulham on the 26th expect our lowest League attendance for 20 years plus. Give it to Kenny and the lethargy currently surrounding L4 - despite a spirited second half on Saturday - will disappear at a stroke.
  20. Apologies if already posted but I'm not wading through 60 odd pages - Just passing on what I've heard from a decent source that Ashley Young is the top target for January plus one of either Suarez, Vucinic or Gomez. Unfortunately it's the Gomez from Bayern and not the Addams Family but you can't have everything. Take as you will etc but please don't shoot the messenger.
  21. If Royston's still in charge come January I expect us to put up a valiant fight against the Spennymoor Paperboys XI before going out on penalties in a third round replay.
