  1. These injuries are probably going to fuck us long term but all the more reason to carry on and get these beat. The ref Is a cunt but that’s not anything new.
  2. Yea Lucas is a decent shout. I think the Italian league suited him anyway and that was especially true after that knee injury took his athleticism down a notch from what it needed to be as a premier league regular. Hard to say we missed him as Henderson basically took on that same role but I always rated Lucas. Will always wonder what would’ve been if that goal went in during the derby when Phil Neville decided to play keeper.
  3. Still using the old "B Team" excuse. Clueless twat hasn't learned a thing, but of course with his outstanding record in his 47 year career why would he bother changing?
  4. Thought it was Martin Broughton that lined up Hodgson, not that I really want to absolve Purslow of his decisions regarding the football side of things.
  5. I think Diaz absolutely chose not to pass to him, and I also think it was a bad decision by Diaz but to be honest I expect Diaz to generally take one touch to many. I suppose it's possible that he somehow thought Darwin could've been offsides though. We'll never know if Darwin would've scored from that particular moment but the player in Diaz position should be making that pass 100% of the time.
  6. The national side and media vitriol surrounding his place in it is definitely something I hadn't ever considered. Very good point and adds some perspective to why he seems so intent on the position change. Fair enough that he'll believe he can be the best in the world there. I don't see it at all based on his overall workrate over the last 12+ months, granted I don't know what Southgate is asking of England's midfield at the moment, that shit would've never flown in a Klopp midfield though. I suppose we'll have to see what the new manager thinks over this coming summer, whoever that is.
  7. I see the same thing with Trent although I'm sure he also wasn't completely match fit on Sunday. Whilst he's maybe never been the most technically sound defender, particularly in terms of positioning part of which is down to how we play, he used to sprint back and make a nuisance of himself. As a 1v1 defender I don't think he's as bad as many make him out to be when he's not just made a lung busting run to cover the space. The issue is that he doesn't seem to want to do that anymore and he also doesn't seem to want to bomb up the wing anymore which is odd because his crosses are amongst the best in the game today but of course that's part of why we shifted to the inverted fullback role for him. That role also makes it easier for him to get back defensively but depending on who else is on the right it either sacrifices our width on that side or as we saw a lot last season it pulls Mo wide and therefore away from the goal. Neither of those are ideal, fortunately we bought Dom who can/will provide that width himself but when he's out we're stuck trying Gravenberch, Elliot, or Gakpo there and all of those have their cons when asked to do that. I've said it before but somehow Trent seems to have become convinced he's better off trying to be an above average midfielder than being a world class fullback. It doesn't make any sense to me and it especially doesn't make any sense to me in this team under Jurgen Klopp who's always prized industry over creativity/freedom from the midfielders during his time here. I'm honestly not even sure what the best way to use Trent in midfield would be. Off the top of my head I'd say in a double pivot with a real destroyer type like Mascherano was alongside him. Is that really the move he wants to make though? Maybe it's just me but playmaker style Defensive Midfielder doesn't seem any more glamorous of a role than swashbuckling fullback.
  8. Just saw some ESPN FC clip where the headline is that "Arsenal Tore Liverpool to Shreds". I didn't bother watching to be fair (it's about 20 minutes and I can't be bothered at this point), but watching that game I think we played shit, truly, but I wouldn't say we were torn to shreds. It could've gone that way in the first half, but we somehow ended up level, as Arsenal did what they do and didn't take any other chances they created. I know horseshoes and handgrenades and all that but the way the game was going in the second I don't think we end up losing if not for the huge VVD Alisson double fuck up. We had finally started to get a foothold in the game. Arsenal were looking as if they were more scared of losing than they were of drawing, and then of course with Konate's sending off we got done on the break by a solo effort that still needed a deflection to beat Alisson because we were still actually trying to get back in the game. This all with us having to change our gameplan at most a day before with Dom's injury resurfacing and Bradley's personal tragedy.
  9. When I read the thread title the 4-0 against Madrid at Anfield immediately came to mind so I'm going with that one. Never got near us the whole match. A shame that team didn't make the final that season.
  10. I thought he was going to drop him stone cold stunner style, wouldn't have minded myself but I can't imagine that would have gone over too well with most people.
  11. I would've definitely taken a draw once I saw the team sheet and that first half performance. Especially the way they conceded our goal, it would've really done a number on Arsenal's mentality I suspect. The good thing though is that they might actually show up when they play City now. assuming they don't fuck up on their own before then. As for us, well we just have to take this one on the chin and perform up to standard for the remainder of the season. We're still head of Arsenal on the same amount of games played, and it's hard to say it makes the City game more important because we were already going to go for it against them at home anyway.
  12. That's the fucking RedCafu you're talking about.
  13. I hear you on the similar timelines, but having Leverkusen where they are in the Bundesliga is a lot different than winning the league at Rangers in what has been a two horse race since I started following football 24 or so years ago (fuck that makes me feel old), other than when Rangers got relegated for whatever it was they got punished for. I always thought Gerrard was stepping up too early in the first place, but I think a natural progression from the Scottish League is the Championship at best and you could honestly make a case for league one even. I don’t know what kind of football his Rangers side were playing because it’s not an easy league to follow in America and I couldn’t be bothered to find a stream, at Villa though he went full pragmatic shithouse and it went predictably bad for him after not too long. I would imagine he wouldn’t try that here but since he’s not been anywhere of note since then it’s hard to say and on merit he certainly hasn’t shown he deserves the opportunity as a manager. As far as who I want to take over Klopp’s position, I simply don’t have enough knowledge on the current state of football managers. Of the “Big Names” only Ancelotti and Zidane move the needle for me, the former having just re-upped with Real Madrid and the latter seemingly only interested in managing if Real Madrid need him to. Everyone else would be an unknown at a club like Liverpool, so that’s what makes me lean towards Alonso more than any idea of his style of management, football, or his current resume.
  14. Got the news 3am my time today as I wasn’t sleeping, hit me like a kick in the balls and certainly didn’t help the night’s restlessness. I’m gutted like the rest of us. Finally got around to watching the full announcement and presser. Can’t say it’s made me happy with the decision but it did help me to understand it better and see his perspective. Think it says it all really that even when he’s saying something you don’t want to hear you can’t help but listen to the man. Commanding presence, humble personality, and from what I can tell anyway compeletely honest about himself. Hopefully the team grab as much silverware as possible and send him off on the biggest high imaginable. He’s going to be a tough act to follow for whoever takes over his position but his attitude about the situation inside the club makes me cautiously optimistic that we will get it right.
  15. Toney moved the ball twice before the kick was taken. Forest's keeper should've adjusted but it doesn't make it better that it was allowed to stand.
  16. Been saying this the whole time, I think Salah not being around has something to do with it too. He knows now that he has to score whereas when Mo is here he can always defer to him.
  17. Condolences and I’m sure he is my friend. The same to rest of y’all have experienced losses recently.
  18. Real Madrid 3-1 up on Barca now, Vinicius hat trick (one pen). They've got Endrick on the way, and are obvious favorites for MBappe but at some point where in the fuck all of these going to play?
  19. It's accepted in the world of football that Courtois had the game of his life, even Madrid fans think so.
  20. We outplayed that Madrid side and everyone that's not biased towards those cunts, or against us, saw it at the time. We just didn't finish which is basically what happened today with Arsenal.
  21. Konate's 24, will be 25 this year. He's pretty much just breaking into his athletic prime. I think his fitness will be better going forward. Agree that's he's world class on his day, you can see why we bought him for sure.
