  1. I can't make up my mind about Dortmund - they look good in the Bundesliga, but in the Europa league, they were rubbish, and didn't get out of the group stage. Are they just the best of a bad lot? Barrios scores goals, but I'm not convinced by him, Kagawa, however, looks really good.
  2. Rep??? Hmmm, yeah, Johnny Rep is Dutch, but he's a lot older than 27........
  3. I thought we lived in a democratic country, with free speech. Has somebody not mentioned this to the ballbags at the FA........ ...clueless!! Try closer to home you bunch of gin drinking buffoons.....
  4. Football needs to bring in a review system, like in cricket. There's far too many shocking decisions, and nothing is done. Not good enough in this day and age. However, seeing how bent FIFA are, there's fat chance of this happening.
  5. Yes, they are. Remember 1993 and the Scum are getting beat 0-1 at home v Sheffield Weds....and the 90 mins were up. Miraculously, Bruce scored twice in 10 mins injury time...... It's been going on ever since.......personally, the majority of their trophies are tarnished!!
  6. Funnily enough, last week, either 5Live or Talksport were saying that it's because the 'lesser' teams had raised their games - that's why the League is this 'exciting'. Personally, the standard is awful......not that it'll stop Keys at al from telling us we've never had it so good!
  7. A really entertaining and well run league. How high the standard is, I don't know, seeing as Dortmund the runaway leaders have been knocked out the Europa League. Hope Neverkusen can catch Dortmund after the winter break. Would love to see big Sami win a league Title. Bundesliga - Die offizielle Webseite
  8. They've got big pockets, having just signed 2 players for the Redsox; $142m over 7 years, and $150 over the same period. If they're going to spend big, I don't want Roy having that money.
  9. I think there's too much made about him not winning a major - there's plenty of lesser players who have won, then done very little, i;e Larry Mize, Bob Tway, Rich Beem, Shawn Micheel, Paul Lawrie, etc
  10. Can't believe how bad the Rangers relief pitching/ bullpen was in game 2. Went to bed after the Rangers' 8th inning, and it was 2-0. Couldn't believe they let another 7 runs in the 8th. Think that will decide the series...
  11. A complete joke, and it was just as bad on 5Live and Talkfootball. Our sports media are pathetic....and as for Jim 'Manc' White - "Fergie played a blinder".....oh did he???
  12. Funny, can’t be a coincidence can it? Before he owned them they used to make the Post season, he took over and then they didn’t. Since losing control they’ve made the Post season 2 years running, and are now 1 game from the World Series, in fact they should have won game1. Good luck to them. As for the Stars, how has Mike Modano been allowed to go to the Redwings ? Has been with the NorthStars/Stars since being drafted in 1988. I’m optimistic about the future at Anfield, now the curse of Hicks has gone.
  13. What a performance from Cliff Lee - 13 strike outs, and he even allowed a walk, and a hit.... Can the Yankees hit back tonight? Thought it was funny that the Yankees hitting coach said they had a strategy for Lee.......
  14. Regarding the Fenway Park and Anfield comparison - Fenway is still basically the same as it's always been, isn't it? Whereas there isn't one original stand left at Anfield. I've always been loathed to leave Anfield, but I can't see how we can stay there and make the changes needed. To make money they'll want to attract families, that means bars, restaurants, shops, museums, cinemas, rest rooms, etc Making it a day out, rather than just a few hours at the game. In short, it will probably be a complete change of culture. Not sure how that will go down though. Football/Sports grounds need to be in operation 24/7 nowadays to make money - conference centres, etc
  15. I'm trying to get into the game, anybody recommend any reading? I've heard about a Ken Burns film...and I believe there are a few books comparing cricket and baseball.
  16. That was Panesar-esque....., third of the night, and fourth of the series.....
  17. Ho hum. Good old British/ English football - full of blood and thunder, commitment, 90mph, passion - oh and occasionally, skill and tactics. Isn’t it about time we slowed the game down, and played modern 21st century football? Since when has 90mph football won World Cups, etc?? Football has a duty to disarm its human missiles | Richard Williams | Football | The Guardian
  18. He'll get one, as will Beckham, and any other Manc...... Unbelievable......it really is.
  19. And he scored at the weekend with a diving header......
  20. Strange one this - there have been rumours about him for a few years, especially the Operacion Puerto scandal, back in 2006 - when he was 'cleared'. One thing I will say though - cycling gets a bad press because of it's drug problem - however, loads of other sports just ignore the problem, and make out everything is clean. It isn't......
  21. Would expect Cancellara to win tomorrow, but you never know, Tony Martin could threaten, as could the Swede Gustav Larsson. As for the road race on Sunday, I can't see Cavendish doing it - it looks hillier than they thought.
  22. We can look back on ‘ye olde days’ with rose tinted glasses – No, they weren’t perfect, but I still think football was better than, however, we have to move with the times. That was Moores and Parry’s problem – we were left behind, during the Premier league/ Sky boom-time. I love everything about Anfield – but, it holds 44,500. That’s nowere near big enough for a club of our size – compare with all the other teams who’ve won the European Cup 4 times. For me it’s a simple choice – stay still, do nothing and die. Or, make the match day an experience, a day out, etc all the modern money making racket. I hate all that modern day stuff, but we have to move on, times change, etc Saying that, who knows what will happen come October….
  23. Brave decision by Ryan to retire. However, he does rely on suitable conditions to swing the ball, and down in Australia with the Kookaburra ball, it’s not likely he’d be that effective. In fact with his lack of pace, he’d more than likely be fodder. It’s actually important that England make a good start – 4 years ago the whole tone was set in the first ball/ over.
  24. When we were cleaning up, Bob Paisley/ the club had class and dignity - no bullying refs and the FA, etc That tin pot club wouldn't know class if it hit them in the face! There's a huge difference between the clubs.
  25. Ginsoak is only mates with those who aren’t a threat. Rafa was the only one who had the balls to say it like it was. Everybody else is too scared. Why? It’s frankly pathetic, and just shows what a pathetic excuse of a League it is.
