  1. As good as he's been when I've seen him at Hull I don't think he ever makes it here. Deserves s chance in preseason but I don't think he has the pace, strength or workrate for a top team. He'll have a good career either way
  2. They'd get overrun these days. I'd love to see a team of the supposed 00s hardmen,Matterazi,Keane,Ramos and Pepe types playing a team of hardmen from the 60-80s with a ref from that time frame
  3. @Bjornebye @Elite @Allan @lifetime fan @Babb'sBurstNad @Megadrive Man @No2 @aRdja @Sugar Ape @TheHowieLama @sir roger @3 Stacks @TD_LFC Anyone interested in a post season draft. Not had one in a long time Thinking a combined Euros and Copa America draft Thinking 1 Player from a nation for 9 picks, and you can have 2 picks from 2 nations Must have at least 4 from each Copa America and Euros Only players in the final squads, so no start until the final squads are announced
  4. Like their weaker foot often not even much use for standing on these days. Its funny ive been listening to The Mixer by Michael Cox talking about the tactical changes during the premier league era. its worth a listen if you have a audible account and if anyone doesn't they are doing a 3 months for 99p deal at the moment so you'd get 3 audio books for 99p. Anyway, theres a few ex players and coaches that are quoted on there, and i heard recently talking about the same that todays football are more athletes than footballers of the past. Its more about fitness, strength and pace especially in the premier league than being a good footballer. I personally agree with this, you rarely see older type of players that lacked pace but could read a game. As a TV spectacle its probably better but as a game its lost something. I was watching Maradona warm up for the uefa-cup semi-final 1989 and its something else. Just a genius at work, Back when skills were a tool to beat a man, today you see far to much skills for the sake of skills, or a winger beat a man, then cut back inside to beat them again or run into trouble. Its a shame that you couldn't move these footballers onto todays pitches and watch what they would have produced. Its the same with protecting players, its gone from a need to over the top bollocks. The more they fuck with the game and the rules the worse they make it
  5. First step of the new regulator City cry to the government and they get involved and it all gets swept away. Premier league will be happy and claim the last 10 years have all been above board
  6. It looked like a bad mix of manager and some stats standings. Once Edwards took over from Comolli we looked to be doing a far better job at Reading the stats. Comolli was intrigued by stats but didn't know how to use them correctly or have enough sway to override the manager
  7. It's funny how VAR was in use for the CL game with Bayern and Madrid buy having good officials meant you never really noticed. VAR is badly used over here, its not perfect either but I'd like to see it used with competent refs. For a league that thinks itself a world wide league with the best talents not headhunting tbe best refs world wide is nonsense
  8. I don't think he's quick enough for what we want or need. Neither does he have the output to be worth the fee. 37 games(2732 minutes)7 goals and 4 assists. 0 goals 1 assist in last 11 games.
  9. About £105 if you want one of these About £1.50 when i bought on of these of a steet seller in Goa about 10 years back and i probably got ripped off for not haggling
  10. We had interest in Thuram, we went with Szoboszlai/Gravenberch instead, the other was Manu Kone. Not watched either this year though.
  11. Swapping Darwin for a 36 year old Lewandowski that is well on the way out would be stupid I did see some links to de Jong but likely just shit as no real source
  12. If it stays as is with Spurs and Chelsea and Villa beat Brighton on Sunday then a win for us amd Spurs can't get CL
  13. Can i shock you Another team thats part of the City group under investigation
  14. It is due for the summer but instead of June its July into August. So the players likely won't be ready till mid september unless you want to rush them back
  15. We can make a decent side of players that will be in early preseason Kelleher Bradley Quansah van den Berg Beck Endo Gravenberch Elliot Carvalho Jones Salah Gomez Gravenberch Doak Gordon Bajectic
  16. Boxing and all fight sports need to sort this stuff out. Garcia will still live of this as a win and it still elevates him. All fight purses should be kept from fighters awaiting the results of drug tests. If you fail it goes to your opponent unless you can prove it was a painted supplement etc. You should also be on the hook for a private class action suite from fans that paid to see the fight. And you should be banned from all combat sports for life Only something like this that would bankrupt a fighter amd stop them earning again is strong enough to put off fighters. It's harsh but it's not a game performance enhancing drugs in combat sports are potentially a death sentence for your opponent
  17. Listening to Michael Cox book The Mixer Got me thinking about transfers that didn't happen, but if they did change football history. Sheff Weds turning down Fergusons 3ml offer for David Hirst another bid failed for Brian Deane. If that happens they don't buy Cantona for 1ml and it probably changes the 90s. Di Steffano to Barcelona, suspected Franco interferences and he ends up at Real Madrid Others?
  18. ' He doesn't want to leave Inter, he has said that multiple times. Quality player though Eze i like but not really as a 10 and not for 60+ml either, he is 26 aswell so unlikely to get much better. 19 goals and 8 assists over the past 3 years isn't near good enough for a top club. Its a shame Olise hamstrings seem to be a issue, last 2 seasons he has missed 21 games to hamstring issues. But this year he has 7 goals and 4 assists in 16 games(just over 1000 minutes)
  19. This Im single but im a boring fucker and selfish with my off time. But there is no way i'd be fucking around behind someone's back
  20. Reminiscent of some of Gerrard and Torres goals that one
  21. Duane Eddy, pioneering rock’n’roll guitarist, dies at 86 Duane Eddy, the rock’n’roll guitarist who achieved solo stardom with a string of instrumental hits in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including Rebel Rouser and the theme to the TV series Peter Gunn, has died at the age of 86. The Grammy-winning artist died of cancer surrounded by family at Williamson Health hospital near his home in Franklin, Tennessee, his wife Deed Abbate told the Associated Press. “Duane inspired a generation of guitarists the world over with his unmistakeable signature ‘Twang’ sound,” a representative said in a statement. “He was the first rock and roll guitar god, a truly humble and incredible human being. He will be sorely missed.” With his distinctive sound of rhythm, hollers and hand claps, as well as a principle that the guitar’s lower strings sounded better on tape than its high ones, Eddy helped established a “twangy” rock’n’roll sound that inspired future internationally famous guitarists from George Harrison to Bruce Springsteen. He notched 16 top 40 singles between 1958 and 1963 – near single-handedly cementing the position of the rock’n’roll guitar star. “Instrumentalists don’t usually become famous. But Duane Eddy’s electric guitar was a voice all its own,” said Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, in a statement to Variety. “His sound was muscular and masculine, twangy and tough. Duane scored more than 30 hits on the pop charts. But more importantly, his style inspired thousands of hillbilly cats and downtown rockers – the Ventures, George Harrison, Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, Marty Stuart, to name a few – to learn how to rumble and move people to their core. The Duane Eddy sound will forever be stitched into the fabric of country and rock & roll.” Born on 26 April in Corning, NY, Eddy began playing guitar at the age of five. He began performing in local radio shows as a child, with a guitar style primarily shaped by the singing cowboys Roy Rodgers and Gene Autry, as well as musicians Les Paul, Chet Atkins and Merle Travis. After moving to Arizona at the age of 13, Eddy linked up with a friend, Jimmy Delbridge, to perform in local shows. They were scouted by aspiring producer Lee Hazelwood, who went on to record Eddy’s first solo single, Movin’ n’ Groovin’ in 1957, when Eddy was 19. Hazelwood and Eddy developed the distinctive “twang” style, which Hazelwood later adapted for Nancy Sinatra’s smash 1960 hit These Boots Are Made for Walkin. Though his chart success waned during the British invasion in the mid-1960s, Eddy’s style had an immediate impact on up-and-coming musicians, including Harrison and Hank Marvin of the Shadows. His music stayed alive, however, through use in more than 30 movies and TV shows over years. He reached the charts as late as 1986, with a remake of his 1960 song Peter Gunn by the UK band Art of Noise. Eddy recorded over 50 albums during his lifetime, including reissues, the vast majority before his retirement in the mid-1980s. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
