    This place on the south island was brilliant.. Went skiing in the morning (well, stood in the snow - fuckin hate skiing!), then soaked in here in the afternoon. -2°, sat in a thermal pool in shorts.

    As long as they beat us to signing them, that's all they care about. Glad they're not setting the world alight, but I think that's more down to Villas Boas than anything else. Bale papered over some serious cracks in the way he approches games, and if it weren't for some outrageous diving winning penalties (this season and last) they wouldn't be anywhere near where they are now.

    Ha ha, I wish. No, it was just last night letting hair down after a shit week at work. And no Cath I'm not showing off, just thought I'd redress the balance a bit. I have more of a laugh when Mrs Tash is in than not. Besides, she knows that when she does go out this happens...

    Mate, I actually agree with you about pensions. People are living longer and things as they are are unsustainable. However, threatening to close a refinery (when in all likelihood it'll be opened again in a month with a Polish workforce, or similar) is wrong. Just as wrong as MPs still retaining their final salary pensions.

    On paper. But it's not paid as one lump sum is it? As you say, it's spread over a number of years. Amounts like £240m only appear when bankers start looking at things to trade.

    Especially weird since closing the fucking place amounts to a difference (increase) of 8% of world oil prices. And it's losing money??! My fucking arse.     Thought that myself. Losing £10m a month but apparently re-employing all the staff on worse contracts with reduced pensions will reopen the refinery and all will be tickety boo. As if the savings on wages will amount to £10m a month. Fuck off.

    Took one of the little Tashes to see Despicable Me 2 over the weekend. I don't care what anyone says, it's fuckin brilliant. As a kids film you don't mind watching, 10.

    Anytime. Bought a mate of mine a limited edition macallan for his wedding a few years back. It's doubled in price now. Pity as he probably won't drink it. Anyway, enjoy the Lagavulin. As soon as I taste a new favourite, I'll pass it on. x

    The problem would arise if China found it more beneficial to trade with other nations. It's inevitable that China will become more powerful than the US economically, it's what the US decide to do about it. I'm not sure I'd trust them to act rationally.

    Jesus, you live in a nice village mate! Took Mrs Tash there for her birthday a couple of years ago. The food was very good, the sommelier was even better. If you haven't been, try and go.
