  1. Interesting what she just said though, that she found his remarks inconsistent with someone who fired without thinking.
  2. Depends how mouthy she'd been really, jonny. You don't want to end some poor bugger who's only after your credit cards, just because she won't stop going on about that time you were rude to her Mum.
  3. This judge doesn't look the sort mate. I reckon she'll finger him at absolute max.
  4. I used to watch Brush Strokes. Elmo the fat ugly barman being a comedy counterpoint to Jacko's womanising ways. This was another favourite of mine as a child:
  5. Sorry to hear times are low for you Bob. Keep on keeping on mate, best wishes.
  6. Who's saying shit about my family and where are my fucking glasses?
  7. My idea of heaven that, writhing on a live US TV sofa intent on keeping job and face intact, with Tyson giving me those sort of looks and calling me a rat piece of shit. Some guys get all the luck.
  8. Eating Tunnocks wafers until you got such a sugar rush you fell out of a tree?
  9. Would that angle be looking at him dead on with an unencumbered view of his whole face? If so, its not just you.
  10. Read an interview with that Mark Williams-Thomas guy earlier. Supposedly he's had unique access to Tackleberry and his family, and "genuinely" believes he's an innocent man who's utterly filled with remorse for his 'mistake'. As someone who's found that Pistorius's defence would require the suspension of disbelief on most strands of his evidence to believe it, I was interested to read that The Blade Runner had told him he wasn't concerned with what the judge decides in the coming days, as no punishment can ever be as great as the one's he's imposed on himself, by losing this person he loved at his own hand. Immediate thoughts that his trial conduct couldn't have looked less like someone in that frame of mind had he rolled around in the sewer to try and free himself, difficult to shake off right now.
  11. Didn't mean missed the stadium, mate.
  12. Galloway's efforts in front of the Senate will gladden my heart until the day I die, if he'd never done anything else and whatever he may be accused of I'll still always give him credit for that. His zeal and outright relish to get stuck into them, and not be preached at by such a mob, showed a lot of the right stuff in many respects. If he is a hypocrite he was in fine company there, and gave no quarter where many would have gone for Blair style piety over invective. As with others I don't agree with him all the time, he's clearly a very slippery operator, but he's captivating to listen to and if you're not careful his voice becomes a bit like Kaa from The Jungle Book's eyes. I'm sure he enjoys the sound of it just as much as anyone else does, but he's still a world class orator and extremely impressive to hear elucidating on most subjects.
  13. Aye, but fair's fair, he's in good company having missed in his career.
  14. Show-off. There's always someone wanting to go one better than me around here.
  15. Got it on Click and Collect at Waterstones to pick up in the next few days. Read some decent interviews with him about it in the last few days. Someone in his position will always receive bucketloads of criticism, but he's right about far more than he's wrong, in my opinion.
  16. I don't mean to be rude, but with opinions like that, have you ever even watched football?
  17. Van Basten's penalty taking was a thing of beauty. Straight out of a textbook.
  18. Stop being so bloody lenient on them, Mook. Its tolerant views like this that make me sick.
  19. Television South West era Gus Honeybun? I was into him well before anyone else was... In reality he ruined every summer holiday when I had to go down and stay at my Nan's he did, the shit fucking cunt. Sometimes nostalgia seriously plays tricks as to how much better television used to be generally.

    The Cure

Met Boris in faintly surreal circumstances a few years ago, at a family friend's funeral. I was giving a eulogy and kept seeing him out of the corner of my eye during it and thinking where the fuck do I know you from, which was quite distracting. At the wake I was deep in conversation with the singer of our friend's brother's band for hours, and Boris just sat opposite and silently stared through me for a good portion of that, with his much younger French missus by his side. Discovered later the lady I'd been speaking to had been playing their band down somewhat when she said they just used to gig a bit; they'd toured with The Cure and The Pixies and she'd been with Boris off and on for a long time. Only then clicked who the bloke staring at me and only grunting when I spoke to him had been from up-to-date pictures, he's aged a fair bit like. Our friend had mentioned that his brother played a bit, but again never gone into any detail such that we would ever have guessed he'd reached that sort of level. Strange part of the day and strange epilogue to a sad situation all round.
  21. Tripods was absolutely superb. People getting Capped all over the shop like it was South Central LA. Used to love this as a kid as well. Then when a little bit older this bollocks, with one of television's finest ever so shit its great soundtracks: Remember playing it to the other half years ago and her saying it was just shit shit. Didn't speak to her for hours the bastard. And the old classic Auf Wiedersehen, Pet was a Friday night ritual.
  22. This thread would take a seriously excellent Twin Peaks turn now if the person who PM'd Numero was RP.
