    the scenario I favour is this: we extract as much money out of Chelsea as we can and immediately re-invest that money on some quality players before the end of the window; then, Torres sustains a career-threatening injury coming out of the tunnel for Chelsea in the game against us and a little while later he gives a harrowing interview about how he is forever haunted by images of selling his soul to the devil/having john terry jump on his back.

    sadly the bizarre horizontal powerblast of a free-kick and the failure to hit the target from just outside the six yard box with a clear sight of goal were a better reflection of the real babel than the fantastic strike that preceded them. that said i'd rather have had him on than voronin who was not so much a passenger as a saboteur.

    wasn't it mcateer who, when asked at a pizza restaurant if he wanted the pizza cut into 6 or 10 slices, said 6 because he couldn't possibly manage 10 - or so the story goes (something like that anyway)... wayne bridge has always struck me as thick ever since his post-match interview after chelsea won the league cup a couple of years ago - he said he was delighted with the three points... you won the trophy you gormless prick.
