  1. What Martinez did there, stopping Godfrey getting to the ball, didn’t that used to be called obstruction and was punishable by a foul?
  2. Have to say Gray has impressed me tonight. Benitez knew what he was doing getting him so cheap.
  3. Rashford urging their fans to make some noise there. This could go very wrong for our blue brethren.
  4. To be fair, they have been throwing money at the problem since Ferguson left 9 years ago. They were always going to end up half decent eventually. Antony is a prick of the highest order, CR7 lite.
  5. It’s exactly the same as City. It’s called cheating.
  6. They are visionary. It’ll be remodelled slightly smaller after Real Madrid win this one for keeps in 2035. It’ll fit their cabinet then.
  7. No point getting the fume up after that. Everyone knows what has to happen, we’ve got 29 days for it to at least start.
  8. Obvious to everyone it’s been a problematic midfield that has seen us outside the top four for much of the season, although we are currently second to Arsenal in the form tables over the last 4 games, and 3rd to Arsenal and Newcastle over 5 games, so how bad is the actual situation? I got a hiding earlier on in the season for suggesting Elliot was lacking in physical presence and speed to be relied upon every game, but that seems to have become more accepted as the season has gone on. He’s a skilful kid, no doubt, and loves playing for us, but it’s a lot to ask of a teenager to take on so much when his peers aren’t performing as well as expected, there’s also an expectancy around Bajcetic and other youngsters that, in my opinion, shouldn’t be there. Hansen wasn’t wrong when he made his claim about winning nothing with kids, Neville said a couple of years ago that he was right at the time, as even United weren’t 100% sure it’d work out, and it was because that group were a once in a lifetime occurrence. We handle young players and new arrivals very well usually, so if we’re having to rely so much on kids and “hit the ground running” players then something isn’t right. It is arguably because of injury and loss of form to players, some who haven’t been replaced at the optimum time, that the tactics we’ve seen applied so successfully over recent years aren’t now working as well. Watching Arsenal earlier in the week, I was struck by their speed and pressing all over the pitch, it reminded me a bit of when we were 4 up against them in 30 minutes or so a few seasons back. When the pressing was there we were almost unplayable and it sometimes appeared that our goalkeeper and centre backs could have taken deck chairs out for much of the games. It’s that intensity from midfield that we’ve missed most, because it protected our defence and gave our forwards plenty of chances, not all taken, but enough to beat most teams fairly comfortably. It surely hasn’t been lost on those within the club who know what needs to be done, even if they might’ve also been responsible for the situation being as it is. It’s in no-ones interest at the club for us to struggle, as everyone has a stake either through ownership, employment or support and winning games and trophies should be paramount to that, if anyone doesn’t think that then they shouldn’t be supporting, employed by or owners of LFC.
  9. I don’t think there’s a club in London who are anything but a bunch of cunts. Arsenal and their self entitled fans are almost as bad as Chelsea, I know a few West Ham fans who aren’t bad company, but they also love the “calm down”, “feed the scousers” shit and Tottenham are, well, Tottenham.
  10. Probably the first global football superstar. Can only think of Matthews, Puskas, Di Setefano & John Charles who might have a part claim on that, but because of what he was part of, and when he was part of it, especially the 1970 team, Pele reached a bigger audience and his presence lifted the game. Then the money men got hold of it. RIP Edson Arantes do Nascimento, you were decent fella.
  11. Coufal doesn’t get the ball cleanly, as he could have done, but he does get the Arsenal player fully with his follow through. Point I’m making, perhaps not clearly enough, is there seems to me to be a lot of tackles where this happens. Martinelli was up and running shortly after, so maybe not as bad as I first thought.
  12. Coufal lucky there? Another tackle that ends up with the tacklers foot coming down on top of the opponents foot. Is it me or are there too many of them happening to be coincidence?
  13. Nice to see Arsenal reverting to the Wenger model, trying to walk the ball in again.
  14. Hope Grealish plays, £100m white elephant with balance issues.
  15. Lucky to have been around while all on the list were playing, saw them mainly on the tele of course, but I think how you conduct yourself should be part of the argument, as well as for the skill, goals, trophies won etc.. Beckenbauer won everything and was a brilliant player, he’d have been close, but was involved in bribery allegations over Germany bidding for the World Cup which were never proven because time “ran out” for the prosecution to be brought. Where have we heard that recently? I think Messi can’t really be argued against now, on all counts, but Mbappe has a few years to complete a full set of medals, and I’ve no doubt score a shitload of goals as well, to possibly challenge him.
  16. Are there suggestions of scurrilous behaviour afoot? Surely nobody will expect favouritism towards either of the two teams?
  17. To be fair, he might not be used to playing so many games in such a short time? Didn’t he play in all of Morocco’s games? If we were already looking before the World Cup then there must be something we’ve seen, just a pity that everyone will know about him now.
  18. “There you go Naby, just like Southport beach! You’ll love it here!
  19. All set up for FIFA’s two golden boys to face off in the final. UEFA won’t be too upset either that two out of three of PSG’s superstars are likely to be behind the headlines. Cue every touch or move that either make will be lauded as “sublime” or “genius” by fawning commentator’s all over the airwaves and television. Ronaldo will no doubt be praying Messi doesn’t end up winning it as he would then be, arguably quite rightly, dubbed GOAT, and that would really stick in his throat. Mbappe on the other hand has years to win everything available and could win the CL with his club team to complete a decent set of medals at 23, but maybe he’d have to go to Madrid or Barcelona before being properly deified. Personally I wouldn’t mind Messi winning it because he’d always have that memory, to go alongside that other memory of us monstering his Barcelona team in 2019 and the Robbo hair ruffle. Then again, big Ibou could end up being victorious, which would be nice for him, especially if he scored the winning goal. Just hope it’s worth watching as so many of these finals fail to live up to the billing.
  20. Morocco not really matching their endeavour with skill. Plucky, but ultimately not really good enough. Their support though, World Class.
  21. Gree-ez-man. Why? He’s been Griezeman for as long as I can remember. Bring back Kenneth Wolsrenholme I say.
