  1. Probably the sending off yesterday affected his minutes on the pitch, we might have seen him on earlier without that happening, but I noticed him as the final whistle went, he went straight down the tunnel with hardly a word or acknowledgement to anyone else. Seemed pissed off.
  2. Was running everywhere when he came on initially, then settled down a bit, (think Virg had a word), just did the simple things well, got a couple of decent challenges in, caught the once, but it could’ve been given a foul as a couple of similar were to Bournemouth. Steady.
  3. Is there a club that has worse injury problems to its first team squad than ours? Don’t suppose there’s a website that does stats like that?
  4. Totally agree and something I and many others have sad. Some say you should never look back, but you could also say, learn from the lessons of the past. Shankly, Paisley, Ferguson et al knew their shit, it’s no disgrace to adapt their thinking to the present day.
  5. Could regret this, but I think we could be positively surprised by Endo. Not based on any knowledge or previous observation, but I think he could be an asset. Hope he’s not the only one I think that about in the coming fortnight.
  6. The term Mentality monsters just about covered the team from 2017 onwards until 2021. I agree that the away against Villa, the season we won the league (which I was fortunate to be at) was sheer force of will and we just knew after that game we were going to win the League. Ferguson, not that I ever liked him, brought in players that had that will to win, were capable of committing “professional fouls”, had the never say die attitude that set his teams apart from the norm, and currently, aside from the massive money they have, City or Guardiola, also bring in similar players. They bully teams, and it’s that kind of attitude that we need to be identifying when we sign players as much as their ability to run, jump, fight or ride a bike.
  7. Mate of mine was involved with the Main Stand rebuild, company he was working for were contracted to do the glasswork. I remember him telling me that there were more than a couple of contracting companies that would have gone bust if they’d have incurred penalty clauses. That’s how close they sail to the wind to get on to prestige sites.
  8. And by the time it’s all sorted, a Partridge in a Pear Tree.
  9. Don’t know anything about Endo, but maybe our recruitment team see a comparison with Wijnaldum in him? I think most on here were a bit nonplussed when Gini signed, journeyman and all that, but he turned out to be a very shrewd buy. And this Japanese fella at least sounds like one of the two we’ve lost recently. I’m in.
  10. So could BMD be finished before the ARE? Asking for a friend.
  11. Round pegs in round holes please. You know it makes sense.
  12. You just know they’ll wriggle out of any meaningful punishment, and I suspect that’s how it will be for any other big hitters with influential state backers. Bigger pictures and all that.
  13. Awkward when it’s someone who’s in a delicate position I guess. Doesn’t surprise me that it’ll be dealt with on the QT though, save the brand any embarrassment.
  14. Transfer ban? Points deduction? Demotion to the Championship? Rescinding titles? Don’t think they’d take that too kindly or mutually somehow. Monetary? If so, what a waste of time.
  15. Promote the idiots up out of the way. Businesses do it all the time!
  16. Szoboslai could be a monster for us I think, Mac Allister looks a very competent and accomplished player, Konate was very good, I hope he can steer clear of injuries, Allison did what was necessary and made no mistakes, thankfully, he does that a lot and very well. For a little while we looked ace, but then fell away, similar to the Real Madrid game at home last season but without our arses being handed to us. The deficiencies were there for all to see, we can only hope they are being addressed because if not, then what are we playing at?
  17. That’s a sad piece of news. 26 is no age and I only hope he’s not a young dad. In the wonderful world of social media there’ll always be some warped blerts who try to get themselves noticed, it’s a sorry indictment of the world in which we live in unfortunately. I’m sure Everton will have a fitting tribute to the young man. RIP
  18. If he goes that would be the mother of all clear outs. Surely too late in the day to even consider a massive bid, it’ll drive costs even higher for us to replace him and any other positions we’re thinking of replacements for. Hopefully he’ll be back to normal, maybe after Klopp and van Dijk have a word.
  19. VAR is a good idea, if it is implemented and controlled correctly. It should be a tool that assists the game in a positive way. Once you let incompetent, at best, or corrupt, at worst, humans dictate how it is used it might as well be switched off, as there are enough incompetent, at best or corrupt, at worst, humans on the pitch making decisions already. I’m not going to pontificate how it should be used, there are sufficient, professional, people in the game to be able to work that one out, but I would have though ex-footballers might be involved somewhere down the line, and/or perhaps referees/officials who could be classed as independent to reduce any bias.
  20. Agree with the main thrust of the post though.
  21. Lavia was a Southampton player no? Or have I misunderstood.
  22. Having no CL football might prove more of a stumbling block than first thought if we want a top quality DM. Being seemingly incompetent at dealing in transfers won’t help either. Can only hope there’s actually stuff going on behind the scenes to rectify the situation. Wonder what Henry was doing over at the weekend?
