What we lack is a “stock” goal. We don’t seem to have a plan in the last third - what are we trying to do? Citeh work hard to get a player behind the line of defenders before crossing to players attacking the six yard box (often haaland). We don’t get runners like that since Trent and robbo stopped making that effort (no doubt, under instruction). We need something to replace that if we don’t reintroduce it.

If I worked with the best in the world every day I think I’d be better at 1 on 1s. I can’t see the current selection policy changing until we play someone half decent. I suspect these athletes are trained to cope with 2 games a week and not playing will disrupt the regime. There are some major differences in rugby. 10 yards further up the pitch is greatly more significant in rugby. It may turn a kick for touch into a kick for goal for example.
