Very good article Dave, finally someone applying common sense to the whole debate. It seems this subject has brought the histerical fannies out of the wood work, and turned some decent posters into narrow minded idiots. In an ideal world we wouldn't know anything about contract negotiations, we would just know a player has signed a new contract or been sold, but that's not the world we live in. Anyone thinking it's only the club to blame for leaking stories is extremely misguided, both parties are doing what they feel is best for themselves.

thats kind of the point i was making, last season i dont think there was a payer on hte planet that played better than him, it made everyone else around him up their games. if we had to take that out of our team it would have had a major impact, absolutley no way we could have challenged for top spot, more likely a battle for champs league spot.

but at the same time when it came to renegotiating with their best young players they were winning things on a regular basis, as of yet we are not we are a work in progress. Players want to win things and will be much less willing to leave as they will be collecting the medals they crave( and a none too shabby wage to boot).

I will say otherwise, at his best he was inconsistent and prone to at least 2 brain farts every game. Problem is his best only came around every 4 games. He could go from the sublime to the ridiculous in one game. The sooner this fraud of a footballer leaves us the better. He promised so much but delivered very little.
