  1. what a sensational choice. 44 and looking fine. i'm shocked.
  2. this would be the same michael johnson who proclaimed himself the fastest man alive (at the time) although that accolade usually is reserved for the 100m champion ? the 100m champion at 1994 olympics was donovan bailey of canada. the same donovan bailey who set the world record time of 9.84 seconds. it was the same michael johnson who reluctantly accepted the challenge of running a 150 m race to prove who was the fastest and then pulled up 'lame' after bailey was a good five yards ahead of him down the stretch. sryuicuQyR0 greatest short distance athlete of all time, my ass. overhyped egotistical american athlete maybe.
  3. greg lemond winning the tour in 1989 - making up almost one minute in the final time trial to paris to ultimately win by a mere 8 seconds. an incredible feat....... Xs02oztH0S4
  4. the small furry creatures fight back...... couldn't find anything eating a centipede however.
  5. but that would be two wild animals engaged in the natural cycle of life and death. this would be an unnatural situation where one animal is inhumanly tortured simply to entertain and indulge some sick and twisted individual. see the difference ?
  6. and while i'm giving some love to the chargers, you have to agree that their powder blue old style uniform is the best ever.....
  7. jacob hester is going to be a great player. used to love SD back in the early 80's with dan fouts, john jefferson, kellen winslow, charlie joiner, and of course chuck muncie.....
  8. glad you can see the error of your ways. the regular season starts next weekend - although there is a game on thursday night (sept.4) between washington and the ny giants. hate them both in equal measures.....go cowboys. edit: didn't read above post, sorry to repeat
  9. i'd also like to add that i loved that gold and navy blue kit (still wear mine) haven't seen an away kit that nice in many years.
  10. i've heard that one before. and i appreciate the no one mentioned the almost lunar proportions of my head in relation to mrs. neko.
  11. just about my turn now...... my wife and i at a christmas party last year. one of only a few i could find - i don't like photos of myself. i agree with some of those african tribes that it captures a piece of your soul.
  12. ah ha ! i don't see the combination of peanut butter and honey there either. another simple classic. has to be liquid honey too.
  13. thanks - i wanted to use the word 'sublime' but had already used it on the FF this morning. it's the kind of word you have to use sparingly. i'm curious now - has anyone had a peanut butter and banana sandwich before ? you don't know what you're missing......
  14. yeah, but then you would have to grate the cheese and separate and add an egg. the beauty of a perfect grilled cheese sandwich lies in the simplicity.
  15. i forgot that mcallister also came on as a late sub for gerrard (i think ?) we could use someone like him today as well.
  16. no, grilled cheese is pretty much as advertised. two slices of bread slathered with butter and grilled with a beautiful thick slice of cheddar (or other) cheese in the middle. you have to flip it to grill both sides to golden perfection. some people might add bacon or tomato to the mix, but i'm a traditionalist myself. the ketchup component cannot be overlooked. a good quality ketchup (slighly chilled) is essential and adds magic to the meal. by the way, it was my trans-continental tastes that brought peanut butter and banana sandwiches to north london in the early 90's. i'm sure it is all the rave throughout england now. i used to make them for my aunt and send her off to the factory with them. i remember that she met initially with resistance and uncertainty, but soon they gained acceptance and popularity with the workers.
  17. we have a wonderful portuguese bakery just down the street. life would not be worth living without it. it also turns out that i am the spitting image of a portuguese tv star, and therefore get the royal treatment when i visit.
  18. i'm a simple man with simple tastes in sandwiches. for a regular sandwich, i would choose egg salad (mayo, capers, dill, maybe a splash of mustard and lemon) on whole wheat bread. in the absence of egg, tuna or salmon are great substitutes. special treat ? grilled cheese ! has to be good quality cheddar and lots of ketchup. maybe on fresh sourdough, if available. mmmmmm.......
  19. that was a tragedy, for sure. how is marcus these days ? any news ? sightings ?
  20. was replayed on the telly yesterday, not long after the match ended. it made for interesting viewing and a study in contrasts to the current squad. the team that day was as follows.... westerveld babbel henchoz hyypia carragher murphy hamann gerrard smicer owen heskey where to start ? marcus babbel. what an incredible performance. broke up everything that came his way from henry and others, and was a constant threat going forward. how much better would the current team be with a player like that ? man of the match for me (owen aside) hyypia was looking lean and mean and made three goal line clearances - any of which might have sealed the game for arsenal. henchoz was lucky to escape without a hand ball and penalty on two occasions, but overall was solid, if unspectacular. our current central pairing(s) are certainly just as solid and reliable..... no problems there. carragher at left back ? certainly didn't look out of place. much more adventurous going forward and didn't make any glaring mistakes. i'm not sure if he would be a regular option at right back now, but you can never question his versatility and commitment. i would imagine the wide midfield pairing of murphy and smicer would have been met with the same howls of protest as kuyt and benayoun. neither contributed much in attack, although murphy was a definite threat at set pieces. when smicer was subbed for berger, the gulf in quality was obvious to see. the patrick berger of 2001 would be a welcome addition to the current squad. hamann and gerrard took awhile to assert themselves, but didi was perfect in his defensive role, and gerrard was energetic as always. mascherano and the current gerrard would probably offer a bit more, but definitely we are in good shape. up front, owen and heskey made a good pairing. it was interesting that when murphy was subbed for fowler, it was heskey who seamlessly made the transition to right midfield...... didn't look out of place to me. owen was a constant threat, and his two late goals were stunning and sublime...... very much the same electricity of torres, i think. fowler was very selfish in possesion and could have sent owen in one on one on a couple of occasions....they didn't like each other much then, did they ? overall, an enjoyable game to watch yesterday. maybe liverpool were a bit fortunate to win in the end, but i just thought it would be worth sharing in light of all the negative feelings surrounding the CL match.
  21. there was a thread some time ago that explained how to speed firefox up. do a search and you shouldn't have that problem any more (assuming firefox is the problem)
  22. firefox rules - and i find it much better for remembering logons and passwords best of all, it isn't microsoft. you know it makes sense......
  23. 1.) reina 2.) aurelio 3.) carragher *runner-up kuyt for the goal
  24. standard played well and deserve some credit........the big belgian bastards
