  1. Oops i forgot to mention that the prize was a turnip surprise. The surprise being there's no turnip. It's the winning that counts though so many congratulations.
  2. RIP Jessie Paisley - Liverpool FC Liverpool Football Club were today deeply saddened to learn of the death of Jessie Paisley, wife of legendary Reds manager Bob. Jessie passed away in hospital on Wednesday morning at the age of 96 after being diagnosed with an infection of the heart last week. She was right by Bob's side as he became the most successful manager in Liverpool FC's history, guiding the Reds to six league titles, three European Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Cup and one European Super Cup during his nine-year tenure at the helm between 1974 and 1983. "She was the driving force behind my dad," son Graham said today. "She idolised my dad and was very much Liverpool Football Club through and through. In fact, the last piece of good news she got was the team beating the two Manchester clubs in the cups - she was very pleased about that. "She was so fully supportive of what my dad did - she was always 100 per cent behind him. There was no side to her and she never begrudged the time he'd have to spend away from home. "She was a schoolteacher most of her working life, so when my dad was off on his travels, she was very much the one in charge of the family. She controlled what was going on and even controlled my dad when he was at home - she was a very organised lady. "In many ways, she was his unpaid secretary and would help him write speeches and respond to correspondence. Obviously the demands of football were different back then to what they are now, but she was very protective of his limited home life. "If he came home and things were stressful, she knew when to say something or when not to mention anything about games - she got the balance right most of the time." Three years after Bob passed away in February 1996, Liverpool FC unveiled a permanent tribute to him outside the Kop at Anfield in the form of the Paisley Gates. The gateway was opened by Jessie in April 1999 and features the three European Cups the Reds won under Paisley's management. "That was a big thrill for her," added Graham. "My dad was so proud of the three European Cups and to have those on the gates at the Kop was a real privilege. "We have a wonderful photo of her at the opening of the gates and in many ways that moment epitomised what she thought of my dad." Everybody at Liverpool Football Club would like to pass on their condolences to Jessie's family and friends at this difficult time. Author: James Carroll A sad loss, and a true member of the Liverpool FC family. The pictures of her opening the gates is one of my fondest as i thought it showed what simple, honest folk helped to make our club one of the grandest institutions in not just this country but the world. Bless you Mrs Paisley and everything you did for Bob and Liverpool Football Club. You'll never walk alone.
  3. I've never been wholly arsed about wembley (much preferred the mill) but i looked at that seat view page and it looks ace from the cheap seats at the back. Can't friggin wait now. Just hope we don't take our eye of the games preceeding it or kenny might get another snot on.
  4. Not in the slightest. Half the ground are using someone else's card every week. They are only interested in dodgy fuckers trying to get in by hiding inside someones sebastian (coat)
  5. I can see a team not dissimilar to the one we put out at arsenal early in the season. No need to rush into them early and get stung on the break Let carroll and kuyt work their possible makeshift defence down for the 1st half then let bellamy and gerrard enter 2nd half. Even if we are down by 1 at half time i still think it is a tactic worth doing. pepe kelly skrtel agger enrique spearing henderson johnson kuyt downing carroll
  6. and the month before that and the month before that ...etc etc etc There's no doubt that he is having an awesome season but one season don't make s summer or something like that. Lets believe in wor andy to up his game now gerrard is back helping him out. Maybe even a bit of help with crosses from deep from fab (like when crouchie was at his best for us - arsenal hat trick especially).
  7. Very sad news and I can't believe it. Real feel for his friends and family. Rest in peace Gary. You'll never walk alone
  8. I think the oldham game should be our foucs. Boycotting the match only shoots ourselves in the foot financially and the FA couldn't give a fuck if a few fans stay away. However, and I know there is no comparison with the Mc******* truth day against arsenal a few years back, but we should get an organised statement of anti the fa and pro luis shindig going on. Get the kop full of international flags representing all our players past and present (see lfchistory.net boys for that) and masses of banners proclaining the fa to be this and that, maybe even a mosiac. The match is scheduled for a friday evening so is no doubt earmarked for tv coverage so we could send out another all powerful message to those corrupt muthafuckers that we shall not accept this slur Luis. Also, just seen on their website that the cup is due to be in liverpool on the 27th, wonder if an organised protest or something could coincide with this. TheFA.com - The FA Cup Trophy Tour will visit Liverpool city centre on 27, 28 and 29 December
  9. I have one spare for tomorrow if anyone needs one. Face value. I am travelling up from bristol by train so can obviously meet at the ground from around 12.30 onwards.
  10. Yeah absolutely agree with that James, I just can't help but be thankful for the simple things and am relatively happy compared to just over a year ago. Oh and nothing will make the atmosphere increase in the stadium until somehow the club sacrifice a little in terms of profits from matchday ticket revenue (which won't ever happen of course). the away games this season in the cc have been great and mainly because there are plenty of young scouse lads out for a good time, whereas anfield has become a shrine to its former self full of holiday makers etc.. If only there was a way of getting more tickets out to our core support at an affordable cost, then the atmosphere would return.
  11. To start with we should boycott our 3rd round fa cup game. It's been a while since we did one. This is beyond a joke. Absolutely shithouses. These fuckers have been at the heart of most of the problems within and surrounding our game for far too long.
  12. Lucas's song was being belted out last night by the kop, and it sounded great on the highlights i've just seen. "and now we really like him, we like him, we like him in fact we fuckin love him, we love him, we love him oooh oh ooooohhhhhh, oh oh ohohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
  13. bang on this. Andy carroll needs to do the same. He'd be better than messi with a proper short b&s
  14. What's the best place for a pre match sing and a pint round chelsea way? I can't wait for this as there are 5 thousand kopites heading to the bridge, so it should great fun. Come on the redmen!!
  15. ecclestons goals were both quality. His pace for the second one was superb. Really enjoyable watch. Well done lads, hopefully eccleston gets a call up for next week at the chavs
  16. Proper LFC legend is Clem. Get well soon.
  17. Thats not the case really though. I passed up on getting any tickets for home games (except the mancs) in the first sale in july/august whenever it was. However i still got plenty of tickets in the late availability sales. I even got manc tickets for some friends on general sale. It is not the be all and end all but if you want guaranteed tickets and with a slightly better chance of stand choice then it is the only option. I will be doing the same for this half. Get my derby tickets tomorrow and see what arises for the others nearer the time.
