  1. yes and no - i think we have been slow starters but also best finshers in the last 5 years so its probably only a little tinkering. Assuming if we start better we'd finish better ignores the fact that its a real game and not fantasy football, maybe every season starts and the games every other team wants to play their best is against the top 4 teams but they don't have the ability to keep that going for a full season and so the quality teams finish stronger? that said a bit of continuity would help and maybe better opposition too, but at least we haven't lost our players crocked in over competitive meaningless friendlies
  2. or foul him and give away a needless freekick......or should i move on from that night
  3. lucas is always going to suffer because of who's palce in the side he's trying to fill - he isn't that bad, Igor looked genuinely confused about what he was meant to do half the time but at least had the physical presence to battle a bit. Maybe thats why the small beautiful man gets so much stick, if he could win the ball back at least once after the countless times he gives it away.....But he's our player and i'll support him - he might score the champions league winner and have to go up on my boys wall like the rest of the mob smicer and trarore included!!
  4. If you have that much money it doesn't matter does it really? They needed something better than they had and someone who wouldn't need time settling in. Its good for the selling clubs - but fucks us up. When we want rid of a player everyone backs off cos of the huge salaries and the player ends up disappeard in the carling cup team on +40k a week.
  5. i think we should give this Jesus Christ bloke a go, if he signs on a free of course - maybe just a loan
  6. The unit i meant more the structure than just the CBs, I think the pressure they've come under is because of problems infront of them. There's is more to it than how they defend one particular moment, if the ball keeps coming back at them or they are pulled out of position because we lose the ball its not their fault. Equally defenders are made to look better if the opposition gets run ragged and dispirited from never getting the ball. Basically i think we've defended well as a unit for quite sometime and I think its our ability to keep the ball and stretch the play that has waned!
  7. hmmm - i think a small over reaction. Only problem is we haven't improved and so far 2 decent teams we've played who underachieved last season got the better of us. Instead of worrying too much we just have to face facts that this league is now so much more competitive that we can't take anything for granted. a bit more imaginative use of our forward options would help much more than worrying about one of the best definsive units in world football!!
  8. the size of our squad is just down to Rafa wanting control of the club from top to bottom - that we call it first team or reserves makes no odds its down to the manager wanting an integrated approach with every Liverpool team playing the same style/formation within reason so that we can interchange when needed. size and quality are 2 different things. Every premiership team has 40 or so players they can call on to play. that said another angle is that clubs are now run like farms and first team players can be "farmed" out for cash!
  9. they don't even make stuff for 4-5 yr olds - we should really tap into this market. I thought the commercial side of things was meant to be the yanks strength I can't see why anyone would let this slip. it might be seen as selling out and ripping fans off but a few shirt sales and a well stocked shop pays for new players simple as that!
  10. Don Hutchinson - getting caught with a budweiser label round his knob knocked millions off the Carlsberg deal.
  11. yeah i know but there's no point letting the facts get in the way. they turn up on saturday, rafa has a few quid in his pocket, wants to solve a problem and provide some company for his homesick argentinian talisman..the rest is history
  12. Apparently we agreed to play atletico as part of the Aguero deal...or have i just googled something from 2006
  13. No way is MO a traitor - he clearly took one for the team, sacrificed his own career so that we could change tactics, lower our wage bill and reclaim our place as the top team in europe. He should be thanked and given a pay as you play deal when he's 35 so that he can say goodbye properly (that last bit isn't a dig at fowler - it would just be nice for all the players who once did well!!)
  14. For sure we'll get less points against the top teams than last year - you only have to look back to see that doesn't happen very often - but then again we can't do worse against the poor teams than we did last year. There's been plenty of one off bad results like Bradford, Barnsley, Watford etc thats where you win or lose the league. no goals v Stoke last year and the other home draws. So I think slur has proved himself wrong there - Can't see Rafa coming out in a press conference and saying hold on we didn't over perform actually we were shit in a lot of games and dropped too many points!! But then maybe Rafa will just sit back with a wry smile and say I just want to talk about my team..................
  15. I think thats why Tevez would have been a good buy - has the work rate and creativity to play deeper, but then I guess he's be taking the Gerrard role and Stevie G being your Xabi replacement.
  16. truth, a lot of hate - but its just frustration really - i have to explain to my little boy why his Xabi posters keep getting taken off his wall and uncrumpled from the bin and put back up.
  17. I don't think there is much point spending 8 mill on a lower league starlet to be honest - the academy is meant to be for recruiting starlets and 8 mill is meant to be used for established players - most of our first team cost less than that and at best a 18 yr old will need bedding in. I was a bit gutted we missed out on walcott way back when but he's not yet good for a whole season in the premiership.
  18. i quite like real madrid - and for all their problems the galactico era was good to watch. also if they were my club i'd like the way they do business - cast out the rod, flatter a few players and wait for them to ask to leave their club - would be nice if all the "boy hood" liverpool fans out there did the same for us. lets get rafa to go out there compliment a few top players and lets do some digging - or is that not the liverpool way!
  19. even better they are rewarding the "most loyal football supporters"tm with the opportunity to pay £5 for an iron on fizzy pop league badge. Apparently fans are made up by this!!
  20. Did mike hooper ever win the league with us - if he did he's better than pepe. fact. sell pepe get a carrot topped welshman in, they never let you down.
  21. The maths doesn't add up plain and simple 10000 members for 5000 tickets - 19 home games = 95000 tickets per year..... 2500 go to 0 games..... 2500 go to <3 = < 7500 tickets per season therefore 5000 people account for 87500 tickets per season OR these 5000 people go to 17.5 games each per season Can't be the case, but then again I'm all for you having to use the card a minimum amount of times
  22. how about 3 at the back? about time we dragged that one out of the cupboard again. didn't we play like that for agger's debut up at newcastel
  23. I take my boy to the match now but seeing as we're living in London now its not that often. Still I know that in years to come he'll get abused for being an OOT even though it was his dad that enlightened him in the first place!
  24. and someones taken it so the offer is closed! you can ask them if i was taking the piss
  25. I don't give a toss - trying to make sure the seat doesn't go empty! Some people seem obsessed with Dunc. He might be a sad waste of time but its also a sad waste of time even thinking about him
