  1. no sorry mate - I meant I have 2 tickets looking for a 3rd in same part of the ground
  2. Lower Centenary - I've 2 season tickets but 2 sons can't decide whose turn it is!
  3. Looks like we're tourning South Africa in August, just hope it doesn't turn into a globe trotting trip again. That said brave making plans when we will probably be in champions league qualifiers.........
  4. Can't remember being 9? I can, I went to see Liverpool v watford I think wearing an england tracksuit and some one having a go saying I shouldn't wear that to a liverpool match - maybe i'll buy us both jester hats and come sit in front of you at the next game?
  5. Pretty standard response to most things on t'internet eh!
  6. Even the title of the thread will make some people's blood boil but give me a second here....I took my lad on sunday to the Newcastle game, it was his 9th birthday, got his pic in the programme, got him a match badge, managed to see a decent game after his last few games, Blackpool, Wigan, Swansea, QPR, say no more.... Anyway I wanted to get him a match scarf but they'd all sold out - does anyone want to sell me one? Send me a PM if you do. He'd be made up. Cheers.
  7. tony warner - or bonus as he was known, sat on the bench picking up win bonuses, back in the day when we won
  8. was his debut against Man United, one of the best debuts i've seen - great player, runs a mean string of kids nurseries now too!!
  9. cheers mate - i'll keep looking, might be in touch later though!
  10. Seeing as we're now shite and everyone is running for cover it might be the right time to add to my matchday collection I've started for my boys. I'm looking for 2 x LFC v Blackpool from last season and 1 x Liverpool v QPR from this. Any ideas/offers please let me know, keeping an eye on ebay is best I've got to so far! JC
  11. would look great in the brochure when selling the club to other youngsters too - look you too can get a game at anfield - like it or not its competitve out there for the best young talent and being held back does no good for the image
  12. agree with that Cij - have the youngsters with the squad, have them on the bench, bring them on in a settled winning team - don't overload or overhype them or expect miracles and the new Owen/Gerrard/Fowler in their first game i just think winning teams find it easier to bring youngsters through - look at barca last week they bring some kid on who scores 2 but so much easier to do when you are 7-1 up
  13. been the problem of the last decade - we simply haven't been good enough to draft in 1 or 2 younsters here or there. Instant success is demanded and that means playing the highly paid stars etc. I thought the policy we were meant to be following is bringing the youngsters through and they need some game time to progress. that said - i enjoyed the carling cup win - in seasons gone by we lost to northampton with a reserve team.....
  14. my mate got one of the new season tickets, i thought i'd lucked out cos he's away travelling for a year and said i could have it - only prob is it needs to be picked up in person with photo id!! i guess there'll be one spare seat this season!!
  15. I think i'm 97, on the postcode checker , but no letter yet
  16. some confusion as the holding company's sole operation is running the footy club - the west ham holding company had several businesses of which the club was a profitable part. i seriously doubt they will impose a penalty - if they did we should just say fine we're off to play in the scottish premiership tata
  17. rob jones debut against man utd wasn't it? made me think we were going places again, sadly his body let him down! phil neal when he was playing but also the all time classic performance in "do i not like that" documentary
  18. this local club for local people works at some levels - thats why I coach my local teams juniors and play for their vets - even though they are shit and I should clearly still be playing professionally! but what happens when people move away, start having families - my kids were born in London but they want to support their dad's team first and foremost., I'm taking them on sunday and they'll be wearing the new kits, its their first time and they are bursting to go. Its not their fault they weren't born within spitting distance or in the middle of this shit storm, but the look on my eldests face when we drove past the ground the other week said it all. and don't worry he'll be telling everyone which end the kop is and who the staute is - he just might not have the "right" accent first lesson in life is loyalty, doesn't matter where you live ffs
  19. i'll support anyone as long as they work hard and knuckle down..won't win us anything if they're shit obviously but its a start
  20. doesn't do any harm in negotiations to not let on how much cash you have does it - i think the fee was kept quiet until the end of the transfer window so as not to prejudice our position in buying raul or the aborted carlton cole/pav fiasco. although i'm not happy with anything the club does at board room level - this is a big improvement on the past. I seem to recall lots of transfers or misses when the price kept going up because we showed our hand to early - a bit like when chelsea or mancity are involved these days
  21. i wonder if the quoted price was 10 mill people would think differently. personally i can't get my head round selling a player of 25 million value and replacing with a 4 million pound player, despite what we know of the owners. then again defensive midfields are like left backs in my team - i'd be happy without them and stick another striker on, always works in my U-7s team
  22. its clear that a bigger stadium and expanded commercial streams will produce big profits - provided we compete at the sharp end on the pitch. for the investment to work we don't need to win anythng just be in all the competitions up to the business end of things. sustainable is spending money on the team and not bleeding it dry - i think seriously the chinese market is the way to go, whether thats the ethical way is a bigger question than liverpool - they probably make half the tat in the club shop already!
  23. i quite like some of those comments/put downs to the players - any one who has done any coaching knows a bit of wit gets through to people quicker than using the same old phrases over and over. clearly coaching viking however long ago is totally different and i doubt his first training session was used to tell agger to hoof it up to torres double quick evry time!
