I've seen his few attempts at writing comedy, and sketches...its pretty shit. I can see why people dislike him and understand his personality can irk some. But I find him funny and reckon he's a genuinely decent bloke, otherwise I'd hate him.

Rich coming from somebody who hears 'Yeats' and most likely thinks 'cheap ale' I agree completely. He's at his best when he has somebody else to bounce off, but I still find his stand up utterly entertaining.

I find his self awareness utterly refreshing. His massive ego yet his apparent timidness and nerves are an example. Despite speaking about fame, and the nature of it, he still remains aware that he is famous and enjoys some aspects of the beast he speaks of so negatively. I think this awareness saves him from coming off as an empty vessel and also provides a sense of realism to the man. I also find he dumbs down his stand up for his audience. I've been to see him 3 times, and although I enjoyed every show (with Scandalous being his best) I was still left feeling he could do much more intelligent stuff as I'd seen him do on occasion. At one point during a show he basically said 'I'm dumbing down for my thick audience and I can say that point blank because they're too thick to notice'. I really enjoy what he does and am looking forward to the Oliver Stone documentary to see exactly how artistically stretched both men are. Clockwork Orange...
