  1. I'd actually not mind two stale draws and then beating them on pens again. Imagine the trauma for Teri and Lumparse!
  2. There was an occasion when Carrick made a pass to (I think) Tevez, just as Skrtel went in to challenge and clatter the latter. The commentator (think it was Dowie also?) was wanking himself silly about how great Carrick was, specifically his ability to spot a pass 2 or 3 steps ahead of anyone else. Well guess what, dumbass - Skrtel read that one all along - that's why he was on Tevez at the moment he received the ball. 2 or 3 steps ahead my arse.
  3. He scores! He scores! And gets injured some more. Total minutes on the pitch: Only twenty-four. Degen! Degen!
  4. Lovable neanderthal - his goal celebrations are insane... but he should really learn to STFU after collecting a booking. You'd think he'd have learned by now! The madman celebrations are amazing stuff. Should be incorporated into every player's goal celebration routine rather than the "I'm so cool" shit we see too often these days.
  5. He'd be a popular choice in a "Guys who don't look like pro footballers" thread. Right smack beside the likes of Mabbutt, Quinn, etc.
  6. Bleah, just saw Dave's post that Darby is out injured. So, forgive my rant (well at least for last night's game... he was on the bench for the Boro game). :D
  7. Oops just saw this. So my rant about not giving Darby a chance was dumb then. :D Any idea what he is out with and for how long?
  8. We took the foot off the pedal at 1-0. Then we stepped on it again at 2-0. It should've been the other way around though - given our weakness in defending setpieces this year, we were playing a dangerous game with that. Didn't go wrong for us today, thankfully, but we should really be going for the knockout after a eight-count and the opponent is winded. How many times have we said that all season (or in seasons before, or before, or before, or before, or before...)?
  9. What does Darby need to do to get a chance? I'd have thought the games against Boro and Sunderland would've been good opportunities to introduce him. Would've excused his absences if Carra had played there, but instead we've gone with players who've never played that position before (I think?). Bizarre. So if Arbeloa is still out when we visit Old Trafford, and given that we'll need Masch for ball-winning duties in the centre, Skrtel was a bust at Boro, and Carra doesn't want to play there, who is Rafa going to turn to then? Lucas? Plessis? Itandje?
  10. If Villa were consistently in Europe, I could see why they'd look upon the UEFA Cup with disdain. But they're not. This is their first meaningful European outing in years, and they go out and piss on it. You don't see Milan, who like Villa, are challenging for a CL spot, play their U-18 squad. They're infinitely more successful than Villa and yet they don't piss on the competition. Granted, the Italians have a deeper squad, but they also have much older legs. I don't know how the Villa fans really feel about it, but if I were one, I don't think I'd be too happy with it. What's their rallying cry: "Europe: We were there"?
  11. Currently playing in the league: "Plastic Twat Face" Ronaldo "Twisted Twat Lips" Ferdinand "Just Twat Me Already" Michael Brown "Goldfish Twat Face" Adebayor "Corner Flag Twatter" Cahill I'd have had Drogba in there if this was asked last season or the season before. He doesn't play (or play well) enough these days to remind me how twattish he is.
  12. I agree with parts of it, but most of it made me feel a bit sick. Negged for having the word "agenda" in your post. Now that's the right way to quote and add your comment at the end ... not quote the entire article and then add a one-liner like some have done. Imagine doing that to a Tomkins article. You'd spend half a day scrolling to find the poster's punch line.
  13. I think he actually worked hard after that miss and after they scored. He was running to blind alleys and getting surrounded by 3 or 4 defenders on a couple of occasions, so nothing actually came out of his work, but I thought he looked like he understood the gravity of his mistake and was trying hard to make up for it.
  14. Skrtel should've broken off Nugent's arm and assimilated it with his own torso. That would've been quite an awesome sight.
  15. The interesting thing is the rules don't say which set of laws has precedence, or whether the first set of rules covers the goalkeeper as well (I assume it did). I'm not sure if it opens things to interpretation - i.e. would another ref have applied the rules of page 110 over the ones in page 111...
  16. Feel bad for the fella' - thought he was okay until that miss shattered his already-fragile confidence; I think he needs to go out on a loan spell to a club where he can get more minutes to develop and get his confidence back; a change in environment could do him some good.
  17. I thought he was doing a Freemasons symbol... :D "G" for "Goal!"
  18. FIFA Laws of the Game here: FIFA.com - The Laws of the Game Page 110, applicable to all players I suppose - says a deliberate handball preventing a obvious goalscoring opportunity is punishable by a sending off. Said sending off is actually for unsporting behaviour rather than for the actual handball itself. The other result is that it's a direct freekick or a penalty, depending on where the offence occurred. Page 111 though speaks specifically about goalkeepers (and includes goalkeepers handling backpasses into the penalty area), and says an indirect free-kick is awarded. Nothing about bookings at all. I suppose Webb applied the second set of rules specific to keepers only. Not sure if the rules on page 110 should've been applied though. Sorry, I'm not answering your question I know... :D
  19. I think it's more a case of the curse of being played in each and every minute of every game (well, almost) by the manager, whether you're in form or not. You can fault Kuyt for his lack of ball skills, but it's Rafa who picks him even though he's not playing up to par. After a while, folks' frustrations boil over to the extent that seeing him on the pitch induces helplessness and resignation from the non-believers. I'll admit to being one of those fans who are puzzled/frustrated by Rafa's trust in Kuyt, but fair dues to the chap today, he played well and was crucial in us getting back into the game.
  20. Yes, we just need to tell the Spaniards that Torres has a hairband fracture after scoring the winner.
  21. You've jinxed him. Now he'll be rested for the next few games.
  22. I owe Kuyt an apology for this game. He did well for us in the time he had on the pitch. As for Torres - God has returned in a new form - and about effing time too.
  23. Given the lineup out there, have to say we haven't done as badly as I'd feared. In fact, I think if we kept everyone except N'gog out there in the second half, and introduced one of Torres, Riera or Xabi, we'll actually go on to score a goal or two and claim all the points. Pompey are really shit under Adams. At the back of my mind though, I've this feeling we'll get a 65th minute Kuyt-for-N'gog substitution...
